We got that 904 error also in last weeks crawl. Never ever had it before and we have great hosting. I´m not sure if this could be a Moz issue as opposed to a server issue. Any others experience a 904?

I hated trying to do SEO on Joomla but if you must, try out ACESEF module. Good luck!

RE: Php 301 redirect
There are various ways of doing this and yes the good ol htaccess can be a bit daunting at first.
Check this page out, should help you.
http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.phpYou cannot do a 301 redirect with meta tags - a meta tag "refresh" does not provide a 301 redirect.
Useful hint: Before commiting to it, try using the same script either in PHP or HTACCESS but with a 302 (temporary redirect) - then test it works and then make it a 301 (permanent redirect) - that way if you get it wrong, Google will not take the permanent instruction.

RE: E-Commerce - Country Domains versus 1 Domain?
Thank you for your answer.
It´s hard to estimate the value this one particular country would add - we work with a niche and getting estimates as to the volume of extra business it could yield is hard, SEMRush is helpful though.

RE: IP Address Geolocation SEO - Multiple A records, implications?
Thank you.
Our server is fast, hosted in OVH France and we use MaxCDN. Using Magento we can achieve a very low TTFB and load time of around 180ms. We rank better for our kws in France than we do in other European countries although our site is not in French.
Any ideas where I can find a map of european connectivity and hosting companies?
Thanks for your help, I think that we are heading in the right direction!

IP Address Geolocation SEO - Multiple A records, implications?
Hi,
We operate an ecom site, with a .com TLD. The IP address of the hosting is based in France and indeed we seem to see quite a lot of traffic from France.
How relevant is the A record of the domain for SEO? Is it still an important signal to help Google geolocate?
And, if that is the case, is there a case for having multiple A records for the domain? Like an IP Address in France, an IP address in Italy, etc... that way the domain would have multiple A records...
Thank you

E-Commerce - Country Domains versus 1 Domain?
Hi,
Just wanted to get some feedback and opinions re the idea of segmenting our ecommerce site languages under various domains, like .jp for japanese, .it for italian etc...
I do understand the geolocation benefits that this could bring us, but on the flipside, it would mean that we would need to grow our domain authority, link buiding per country domain, which is quite a bit of work.
Has anyone ever considered or implemented this and any thoughts?
Thanks!

Correct Internal Linking Flow / Keyword Cannibalization
Hi,
Would like some advice re our internal linking structure and possible keyword self cannibalization on our ecommerce site.. Will try and give you an overview. Imagine this page structure:
Site
Brand 1
Brand 2
Brand 2 Shoes
Products
Brand 2 SweatersThen say in Brand 2 Shoes page we have the shoes, e.g., the products labeled as
Brand 2 Shoes "Name of Model"
Brand 2 Shoes "Name of Model"Now, what I'm worried about is that if I do a search for "Brand 2 Shoes" it should bring up my landing page right? But it doesn't, it brings up some of the products instead...
I'm worried that we may be self cannibalizing some of the keywords - and thinking of changing the product page to be "Brand Name of Model Shoes" or "Name of Model Shoes by Brand"
Any ideas or comments appreciated!
Thanks all

Breadcrumbs for E Commerce Site
Hi,
Does anyone have experience with Breadcrumb nodes for e-commerce?
What happens if your product appears in more than one category? Should you let google spider the various breadcrumb routes to the category?? Which one would take preference in results?
Right now, for ease of management, we have not enabled category URL paths to the product - so the product appears right after the domain, for example, www.mydomain.com/en/myproduct.html - If we do enable category URL paths,
Any comments or opinions?
Thanks!

It doesn't show any result for the "blocked page" when I do that in Google.

RE: Pages getting into Google Index, blocked by Robots.txt??
Hi guys,
Appreciate your replies, but as far as I checked last time, if the URL is blocked by a Robots.txt file, it cannot read the Meta Noindex, Follow tag within the page.
There are no external references to these URL's, so Google is finding them within the site itself.
In essence, what you are recommending is that I lift the robots block and let google crawl these pages (which could be infinite as it is faceted navigation).
This will waste my crawl budget.
Any other ideas?

RE: Pages getting into Google Index, blocked by Robots.txt??
For example:
http://www.sekretza.com/eng/best-sellers-sekretza-products.html?price=1%2C1000Is blocked by using:
Disallow: /*price=.... ?

Pages getting into Google Index, blocked by Robots.txt??
Hi all,
So yesterday we set up to Remove URL's that got into the Google index that were not supposed to be there, due to faceted navigation... We searched for the URL's by using this in Google Search.
site:www.sekretza.com inurl:price=
site:www.sekretza.com inurl:artists=So it brings up a list of "duplicate" pages, and they have the usual: "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more."
So we removed them all, and google removed them all, every single one.
This morning I do a check, and I find that more are creeping in - If i take one of the suspecting dupes to the Robots.txt tester, Google tells me it's Blocked. - and yet it's appearing in their index??
I'm confused as to why a path that is blocked is able to get into the index?? I'm thinking of lifting the Robots block so that Google can see that these pages also have a Meta NOINDEX,FOLLOW tag on - but surely that will waste my crawl budget on unnecessary pages?
Any ideas?
thanks.

No Domain Authority after 6 weeks
Hi,
We have just launched a new e-commerce site and 301'd a lot of the products and categories to the new site. I have also added a link or 2 from other domains.
We launched it on 10th of June - but still using site explorer, there is no domain authority showing - just a 1.
Why is that? Any ideas?

Ajax Pagination on Ecommerce category pages - Good or Bad?
We have an ecommerce site. We installed an AJAX feature that when you scroll down to say, the end of 6 rows of products, it loads another page below the seam.
Question is, is this good or bad for SEO? Any tests you can suggest?
Thanks

RE: Images Sitemap GWT - not indexed?
Thanks for your reply.
Just checked that, and we have lost all images in search - only have 4 there from thousands!
This has coincided since we moved to cdn - but we also have implemented a google sitemap with images included.
My next step, is to put our cdn image address in the sitemap, not the local domain one as on our site none of the links contain this address but the cdn address.
Any more suggestions welcome!

Images Sitemap GWT - not indexed?
So we went ahead and created an image sitemap of 2387 images, one for each product - I was hoping it would give us better exposure in image results.
No joy, over 7 days and they only showing as "sent" but not "indexed".
Any ideas?

RE: Duplicate Content Issues on Product Pages
Hi there,
I'm also working on an ecom site using Magento - in short, there are a couple of ways that come to mind in how to deal with this:
-
Create grouped or configurable products that bring these simple products into 1 single product - customer then chooses size and colour for example.
-
Rewrite a lot of unique content in the product descriptions for each variation.
In my experience, sales convert better on option 1, plus my gut tells me they are favoured by Google.
Good luck!
