Https & Google Updated Guidelines
Definitely check out our Ranking Factors survey. As far as Accessibility, many good practices such as providing transcripts for videos and alt text for images are just good SEO too.

Google & Tabbed Content
Hi It's actually worked for us on certain pages, I don't like to just throw content under a tab on the page, but for now it's helping whilst we work on the design of the pages. I think they need improvement from a UX perspective still but for now it's helping. Thanks!

Pagination & SEO
Yep got it, thanks - will Google therefore not pay attention to those products on the second+ pages? Also Ive seen on if you're on the second page of results we still have rel="next" href="http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/plastic-storage-boxes?page=2" > And haven;t got the rel="prev" which I had requested, Do you think the unfriendly URL may be a problem? I've been looking at this site and wondered if having products when you scroll is better for SEO? http://www.dunelm.com/category/home-and-furniture/storage/storage-boxes

Targeting KWDs
Hi Andrew This is very helpful thank you, I have already put together a case for improving our page speed so it's something I'll push harder with the developers. I am also working on a section for the site which will include user guides and helpful articles so this is great Thank you!

Display:None
If you just will display icons then it's OK. But it's dangerous to display text with display: none: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-display-none-20626.html https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66353?hl=en https://youtu.be/7y-m_jiayLQ https://youtu.be/B9BWbruCiDc https://www.seroundtable.com/google-hiding-content-17136.html https://www.seroundtable.com/google-hidden-tab-content-seo-19489.html Because hiding text give "less weight" and you may get into trouble.

Google SERPs changes
Just as Russ says - many things may happen. I will add few more: Panda 4.2 https://moz.com/google-algorithm-change#2015 even was on 17 July in UK SERP can be delayed to August. You also can be hit from Panda at any time. Just recovering is slow. Penguin can hit you any time. You need to check and keep one eye on your backlinks. Just recovering is slow. You can be hit from hosting infrastructure, CMS theme update, CMS plugin update, etc. You should investigated previous searches in SearchConsole and compare this to actual one. You can use archive.org and see historical changes in site and it's pages. You should check website log. Similar to "ship captain's log book" you and team there should log every change to site and it's pages/content. And even small change can invoke disaster after 2-3 months or even longer. I wrote few things that need to be seen. I can wrote even longer but sometime there are even outside of SEO events. Imagine that you're auditing something as "Rover cars" and there is sudden drop... because company is now defunct. You also can be hit from negative campaign, rumors, etc. As you can see it isn't hard to explain what's happening without know this customer, it's niche, competitors and social networks.

URL Link Counts
Hey Becky I recommend looking at the metrics directly in OSE to get a side-by-side comparison https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.key.co.uk%2Fen%2Fkey%2Fsack-trucks You will find a breakdown of the page, sub-domain, and entire root domain metrics at this link. Hope this helps!

Menu Structure for Large Ecommerce
Hi, Sure I'll give you an example, our menu has 6 main categories: Storage, Office Trucks & Trolleys, Shelving & Racking, Pallet trucks + More Categories. within more categories, we have 18 more category pages - one is Kitchen & Catering equipment, this has within it 10 subcategories, these don't appear in the menu. You get to these once you click through the kitchen and catering page I'm wondering if we should include these to the menu, so when you hover over the main category, the subcategories appear. Would having this many links in the menu however, cause more issues for SEO

Ecommerce - Product Titles
Hi Chris Thank you for the detailed response, would you say have more subcategory pages is better? I wanted to make sure the product titles were in some way relevant to the category to help with optimisation. I'm trying to improve category page content, but at the moment it's a struggle. The focus is on the products so its not a priority for the business to have lots of content on the page. Becky

Grid view vs. List view
Hi there Have you tried to do any A/B Testing to see what converts better and has a higher engagement rate? Services like Optimizely https://www.optimizely.com/ you can do free Live A/B Testing with very minimal coding required (apart from putting in the Optimizely script into the Body of the page)

SEM Rush?
Yes, I use the "Related Keywords" tool frequently. Clicking on a related keyword to obtain "related keywords of related keywords" is also helpful. The most valuable keywords are obtain from the names that customers use when they call on the phone or when they write to us. That "language of the customer" often does not appear in keyword tools.

Blog - subdomain vs. subfolderq
Hi Erick, Thanks for the response. It all makes sense to me, and I'll push for it. I'll have to build a case of why we want to go with a subfolder, so having feedback and real life case studies from others is great! Thanks!

Display:None CSS & SEO
My reply is.... When we made a couple of pages that had text revealed with a click, those pages were really really big pages, with about 5000 words total. We just though that it would be easy for the visitor to make a short easy menu with the answers opening with a click. It was an experiment that I had no intentions of doing other places, because I believe that text behind a click is not seen by lots of people. So, we tried it. Long tail traffic that was really valuable disappeared. So, now, I put all of my text out in the open where everyone can immediately see it. If I write text (and I write lots of it), I want it to be out there where everybody can see it. I want them to scroll down the page, see every bit of it, whistle and say "holy smoke".
