Duplicate content? other issues? using vendor info when selling their prodcuts?
Thanks for the help guys. I am actually taking about vendor info not products. Like about us and history and summary of services and products offered. I know unique content is always best practice. Main concern is accurate content without using lots of resources. As well as not get penalized by google for duplicate content. thoughts? If i copy and paste 'about us" from a vendor that we see their products. What are the issues??

Indexing images? did something just happen?
Here are a few facts about image search.... Images can go in and out of the image search collection - especially if they are new to image search. New images can go in and out for a few months before they stabilize. If your newly uploaded image is already in the image search index (but hosted on another domain), google might index it and then drop it once they realize that your image is a copy - even if your copy is a different size, or slightly different in some way. Precedence has a slight advantage. Your image that has been on your website and in image search for a long time - even as long as a decade - can fall out of image search if the same or very similar image is uploaded to another domain. Precedence does not guarantee persistence. If you are the copyright holder for an image and it is on another domain in image search, you can file DMCA against that other domain using the Copyright Removal form in your search console. To do that, log into the google account for your search console and go here. BUT, BE CAREFUL.... if your copyrighted image is on another domain, the provisions of fair use can apply, so before you file DMCA, have a good knowledge of the fair use provision (U.S. copyright law) before you start filing take downs. The owner of the domain that you file against can sue you in certain instances. I strongly suggest getting that education first, and if you have questions about specific items, check with a copyright attorney before filing. If you are grabbing and republishing images from other websites or other sources and do not own the copyright for them you might get slapped with a DMCA. Many owners of copyrighted images (they don't have to be marked "copyright") will file DMCA against you and some of they will sue you. The owner might also complain to Adsense and get your account turned off if you are a habitual infringer. Lots of copyright holders watch their images like hawks. Some use automated methods or services that monitor their images. A few of them make big bucks by suing infringers. Google usually responds quickly when DMCA is filed, sometimes within a few hours, and almost always within a few days. They will sometimes warn you about fair use issues, but they might not. Google might also tell you to contact the infringing webmaster in some instances - especially if the image is on a really prominent site. Or, they might tell you to file with the host where the image is visible - they often do this with wordpress, typepad, pinterest and other domains protected by Safe Harbor provisions. I am not an attorney and do not give legal advice. I have been advised by three different copyright attorneys. I find that they usually don't cost as much as you fear and they can be worth a lot more than you pay them. This is how good professional service providers should be.

Pros and cons of video onsite or youtube
CON: "if your video ranks, it will direct users to youtube, not your website - so there is limited SEO value from that perspective." I agree with this. Having your traffic directed to YouTube doesnt really do your site or traffic any favors, BUT you can include links in the description and on the video overlays to combat this. Vimeo Pro allows you to directly embed vidoes on your site, and not have the branded video player. PRO: Its free, and really easy to use/upload/delete/share/modify. A lot of people use YouTube. Seriously. Google indexes YouTube videos in search result pages Can overlay ads on your videos for extra revenue Vimeo is $100 a year iirc. Videos all under one account, and uses gmail account to manage/log in To be honest, I don't think it makes a difference. I would focus on spending extra time on your video, to make it more "conversion-friendly". Spend more time on your message, and what you want to communicate to your viewer. That way, it wont matter where you host it, people will want to come see you.

Slideshare
I would Agree with Moosa - Be careful because you may end up with it not ranking what so ever. People may be finding your slide shows through the site and not necessarily via rankings. I would recommend trying to get a link back to your site or even a link in the deck pointing to your site so even if a user finds it they can still get back to you and its not lost revenue (though you won't necessarily get a seo benefit unfortunately) Remember Slideshare is an authoritative site if you strip[ it out can you compete ?

International web site - duplicate content?
To avoid duplicate content you need to use the rel=”alternate” href=”x” tag. You dont have to buy a domain, here are several ways you can organise your website. ccTLDs - [example.ie] Pros Clear geotargeting Server location irrelevant Easy separation of sites Cons Expensive (and may have limited availability) Requires more infrastructure Strict ccTLD requirements (sometimes) ****Subdomains with gTLDS [de.example.com] Pros Easy to set up Can use Webmaster Tools geotargeting Allows different server locations Easy separation of sites Cons Users might not recognize geotargeting from the URL alone (is “de” the language or country?) Subdirectories with gTLDs [example.com/de/] Pros Easy to set up Can use Webmaster Tools geotargeting Low maintenance (same host) Cons Users might not recognize geotargeting from the URL alone Single server location Separation of sites harder URL parameters [site.com?loc=de] Pros Not recommended. Cons URL-based segmentation difficult Users might not recognize geotargeting from the URL alone Geotargeting in Webmaster Tools is not possible You can have even the same content for example, if you have a version for the UK and another for the US the content will be very similar. Hope this helps watch?v=8ce9jv91beQ

New site or subdomain
I'm not sure there's a one-size-fits-all answer. From an SEO point of view, if the subdomain has a similar design and structure to the main domain, then the new product 'may' benefit from the domain authority of the root domain. On a new domain, the site starts from scratch, although I wouldn't worry too much about a sandbox effect.
