I understand what you are saying. However I did educate this client and told him what he could expect. I also told him that ethically and professionally I wouldn't guarantee new business from our services. I told him what we would do and I have provided the reports backing up our end of the deal. He just didn't seem to retain this...

RE: How to handle backlinks associated with website analyzers like whois.domaintools.com or alexa.com?
Google and other search engines take into account that this is a common occurrence and they do not penalize you for having them. I wouldn't put too much energy into it.

RE: Co-citation - do you lose co-citation benefits if you change your company name?
Well if Google is effectively using "Co-citation/Co-occurrence" then in the instance for Moz that you referred to above, they should be able to use the same process to adjust to the change in name. Moz could help this process by making more references that SEOMOZ is now MOZ, etc...
Here is a good reference from MOZ owner Randy Fishkin: http://moz.com/blog/prediction-anchor-text-is-dying-and-will-be-replaced-by-cocitation-whiteboard-friday

RE: Paid Yahoo Listings - I Need This, Right?
Looking at that info I would hands down go with Google Local. Then YP, Yelp, Superpages, Foursquare (all which offer free listings that will get you the results they are referring to.)
Yahoo Local isn't really a player at all with Apple and that is something to think about.
I just don't see why paying Yahoo is worth it. They are not a major player in local search. Nobody I know uses them. Even the people I know who use Yahoo mail don't use them for search.

Is it good to use Google Webmaster Tools?
Hey all,
I have heard conflicting information regarding use of Google Webmaster Tools. While they provide some great "tools" for tuning and SEO on your website, I heard that it also gives them too much info and that it can be used against you. Kind of like telling them "Hey look at me, I am doing SEO so flag me" etc...
What are your thoughts?
Thanks

How to export Google Places List
I am going to use the new Moz Local. When going into my Google places to try to export the list of businesses and location info I can't seem to figure out how to export it. I click download but it won't download any of the properties. It downloads a spreadsheet and says -0- locations downloaded. Frustrated. Any advice?

RE: Co-citation - do you lose co-citation benefits if you change your company name?
To answer your question make sure that your client and it's social community make a "big deal" of the name change publicly in several ways on the internet so google can adjust.

RE: Paid Yahoo Listings - I Need This, Right?
Hey Sarah,
If you are targeting Apple, go with Yelp and/or Yext. They are the major players in the Apple world.

RE: Whats the best way to revive a directory that was 301'd and now I want to remove that?
Remove the 301 then, get links to the new site. Add a sitemap and make sure there are no duplication between the two sites of content. If your 301 was listed in Webmaster tools then remove it and also set the new as a preferred site and verify it.
Also generate an XML sitemap and submit that to Google, Bing, Yahoo etc
That should do it... It won't happen over night...

RE: Is it good to use Google Webmaster Tools?
I have always used Bing's and see the benefit. I will give Google Webmaster Tools another shot. I generally regard the Moz community and participants as more of an authority regarding questions on related topics...
thanks

RE: Should I use a Google Plus page or Google Plus for my business?
I have to agree with Rich. I do the same thing. My company page is linked to the site and I am setup as the author using Rel author. I see both my company and my authorship listed when running third party tools.

Create the page(s) in HTML and offer a downloadable PDF format. Win/Win

RE: Link building to ROOT domain OR to WWW.?
Link to the www domain. Although if you set canonical and all to www, you will be fine either way.

Is there a Joomla! Component For A Blog Page That Is Recommended?
A business partner currently has a page on a Joomla! website that is passing for the blog page. I am not a Joomla! guy so I dont' know much about it. I do know that I don't like a lot of things and prefer Drupal however making a change to Drupal on that site is not an option. We need to upgrade the blog page so that it is more like a blog and I know there has to be an SEO friendly component for a Joomla! blog page.
Any ideas?

Hey Christy,
Thanks for the followup. Yes Paul did pretty much answer it. Although I asked another specific question and then I will mark as "Good Answer".
Thanks

It is working now. I gave him a thumbs up and you one also! It wouldn't let me give anyone a thumbs up that day. Frustrating... All good though...

RE: Drupal vs. Wordpress
I would keep it in Drupal no matter what. I have found that my Drupal sites have consistently outperformed my Wordpress sites for SEO and speed. Also Wordpress is associated with DIY and it cheapens the image or brand of the company the website represents.
Hope this helps...

RE: SSL, SEO, and Site Migration question
Thanks for your response Chris.
The point you made is exactly what I told our lead web developer. Why redirect more than necessary? It seems like it would be just another opportunity to have something go wrong, lose something in the switches, not pass as much of the link juice. If you lose 20% redirecting it seems like it could risk doubling that loss.. (I am just picking 20% randomly for an example.)
Does the site "forcing from http to https" count as a redirect? I know it is a change in protocol... hmmm
