RE: 1 page crawled - again
Hi Wesley
First, this has been an ongoing problem for the last 6 months. I've had tons of emails back and forth between the Seomoz team and have had my staff look at all traffic to find problems on our side. There is no problem on our side that would cause this. All other services crawling our site is working just fine.
Our robots.txt is being read and obeyed by all other crawl-bots. But not Rogerbot ... And for the hole period of time, the signal to me from Seomoz has been: It is not us. It is you - or Apple, Google, Twitter og Google.
To answer your question: Old thread is locked, so i could not add a reply there. Another strange thing from Semoz. Thread is marked "answered", but my problems it yet not resolved. It never has been. Why then mark it as answered? (as in "done")?
I've cancelled my subscription, so i'm not here to make things right. I'm past that. Seomoz is broken, and the support team blames google, twitter, facebook, apple. This is the reasons i've been given:
Google: Googlebot does not read robots.txt right. It's not Seomoz
Google: GA is loosing connectivity to Seomoz. It's not Seomoz
Apple: IOS creates an errors on semoz forum when posting replies. It's not Seomoz
Twitter: They have a flaw with their API. It's not Semoz
Facebook: They are not reporting data correctly. It's a problem with their API. It's not Seomoz
I like the Semoz tools and the community - but their tools just dont work. And it's pricy paying JUST for the community part. The Semoz team once gave me a month for free because they realized there was a problem, but they could/would not fix it and charged me the following month - even though the problem still existed.
The respect-issue you are mentioning must be a language and cultural difference. Where i come from respect is an action - not just written words. I can write here many times that i do respect Joel and the support-team, but it means nothing if it is not followed up by action that shows the same respect, right?. English is not my primary language, therefore i may often choose different words (with a slighty different meaning) than ie Joel and the support team.

RE: 1 page crawled ... and other errors
And Joel, one last thing: Could you be so kind to send me all my keywords and labels in a spreadsheet? Thomas was sure you would: http://www.seomoz.org/q/export-keywords-and-labels
That would be really very nice. Thanks

Export keywords and labels?
Does anybody know an easy way to export all keywords and labels from seomoz?

RE: 1 page crawled ... and other errors
Hi Joel
Sorry for the exaggerated timeframe. I must have been carried away. If it only happens a couple of times a year, I surely have no reason to complain...You seem to be a very experienced support. They must really appreciate you at Seomoz.org.The issues we have discussing before, once again turn out to be: It's not Seomoz, it's Facebook. It's not Seomoz, it's Twitter. It's not Rogerbot, it's Googlebot.Strange that Googlebot obey our rules. But Rogerbot is apparently more delicate than Googlebot. Is there a reason for this? Perhaps google could use some help to tweak their bot?I do come to think of a recent episode of Gordon Ramsays kitchen nightmares. I'm now to choose between watching that particular episode or reading your response out loud at our next SEO-meeting. If you don't watch Gordon Ramsays kitchen nightmare, and you have no idea of what episode I'm referring to, here's a little help:http://eater.com/archives/2013/05/13/gordon-ramsay-kitchen-nightmares-amys-baking-company.phpSorry for the lack of style and line breaks in my reply. It must be an error on my side, by writing from my iPad. Don't worry. It's not Seomoz. It's Apple.

1 page crawled ... and other errors
1. Why is only one (1) page crawled every second time you crawl my site?
2. Why do your bot not obey the rules specified in the robots.txt?
3. Why does your site constantly loose connection to my facebook account/page? This means that when ever i want to compare performance i need to re-authorize, and therefor can not see any data until next time. Next time i also need to re-authorize ...
4. Why cant i add a competitor twitter account? What ever i type i get an "uh oh account cannot be tracked" - and if i randomly succeed, the account added never shows up with any data.
It has been like this for ages. If have reported these issues over and over again.
We are part of a large scandinavian company represented by Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The companies are also part of a larger worldwide company spreading across England, Ireland, Continental Europe and Northern Europe. I count at least 10 accounts on Seomoz.org
We, the Northern Europe (4 accounts) are now reconsidering our membership at seomoz.org. We have recently expanded our efforts and established a SEO-community in the larger scale businees spanning all our countries. Also in this community we are now discussing the quality of your services. We'll be meeting next time at 27-28th of june in London.
I hope i can bring some answers that clarify the problem we have seen here on seomoz.org. As i have written before: I love your setup and you tools - when they work. Regretebly, that is only occasionally the case!

RE: Why? Keyword ranking on Google go under and down regularly
Hi there. Sorry for late reply. Been busy

Answered from ipad - so structure was totally messed up in my reply. Sorry!
From SeoConsult.com:
"But it’s not until a recent study was conducted by SEO Moz that we realised just how much fluctuation was happening on a daily basis. On average 80% of SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) that were tracked changed every 24 hours over a period of 30 days. Granted most of these changes were small (1 or 2 positions) but for someone who is on page 1 for their favourite keyword this can have a big effect, everyone knows there’s a huge difference from position 1 to position 3. 4 out of 5 SERPS change every day which shows just how dynamic the ranking game has become in 2012."
This sounds like normal fluctuation, but what you describe is more than that. I have not seen this myself, but perhaps everybody is working hard at SEO - hence changes are ongoing:
This could be relevant for you:
http://www.seobook.com/rank-modifying-spammers
"So, Google may shift the rankings of your site, in what appears to be a random manner, before Google settles on a target rank"
Is it far fetched to believe that sometimes google "randomise" the fSERP to achieve more biased data to calculate from CTR?. If I had a hard time choosing which page to present for customers I would A/B-test it. Perhaps google is A/B-testing the SERP for your keyword?

By the way : I have keywords changing back and forward from 19 to 39 within a day. But I guess it is very different when it comes to first page SERP.
Update: During the last week your rankings have been pretty steady for both keywords:
Turnstiles steady at #4-5
Time and attendance Software at #18-19

RE: No Info on My On-page Optimization Scan Reports
Did you add keywords to your campaign?
Try going to your campaign. Click "on page" and then select "report card". Is it possible for you to test the optimization of a page here?
-
RE: Why? Keyword ranking on Google go under and down regularly
Do you solely track your SERP rankings through SEOMOZ, or do you test these rankings yourself on google?
I LOVE Seomoz-tools, but they have shown not to be quite precise all the time. So if a keyword drops rankings on Seomoz, i always test the SERP # on impersonal.me and ie. rankcheckerace.com.
That said some keywords are very volatile and can change within the hour. Can you post the site+keyword here?
-
RE: Same URL in "Duplicate Content" and "Blocked by robots.txt"?
It's kinda strange. I would expect all URLs blocked by robots.txt to NOT show up anywhere on Seomoz.
-
RE: 301 redirect all 404 pages
Yes - indeed. The 301 need to be relevant. You can not redirect www.domain.com/red-pantss to www.domain.com/blue-sweaters
/red-pantss --> /pants or even better /red-pants
-
RE: 301 redirect all 404 pages
So you mean a customer types in /troussers and you would like to redirect that request to /trousers ?
That will no be a problem to SEO, hence google does not know the /troussers-page.
You can not get in SEO-trouble for redirecting pages that are not indexed.
I would say that if you get a lot of 404's because the customer mistyped your url - and it is not traffic from an other page/domain where there is a mistyped link - there is no problem!
-
RE: 301 redirect all 404 pages
Customer: Can i buy a pair of red trousers?
404: Sorry. We dont have any.
301: Sorry. We dont have any red trousers. But maybe these blue trousers would look great on you?
What you are doing is interrupting your customer. Consider that the way the customer enters your store, has a purpose. If the customer used the link www.store.com/trousers - they expect trousers on the page:
Customer: Can i ...
301: Welcome customer. Take a look around and see if you can find what you're looking for.
- you should definitely be more specific. 301 requests to pages regarding trousers to your trousers-category, and 301 redirects request to pages regarding boots to your boots category.

RE: Google Preview not showing images
Arh - offcourse. I was looking at our default domains robots.txt. Thank you

Google Preview not showing images
No matter which our pages i find in the SERP the Google Preview does not show images for www.spies.dk
Try searching for "rejser til malaysia" on google.dk.
The result www.spies.dk/malaysia is not showing images. Why is that?
Using the "google preview tool" under labs in Google Webmaster Tools sys it found 13 errors on that page:

Need advice on old brand names
A couple of years ago my company put all effort into one brand name, closing multiple sites with good names.
All traffic going to ie OldBrandName.com is now redirected to www.newbrandname.com/OldBrandName.
Here our customers are being told about the fusion/merge and we are linking to the key-products of OldBrandName, on our new age.
We have 4 of these pages for 4 different brandnames. These pages still get a lot of traffic.
Now to my question: how do I get as much juice as possible out of these OldBrandNames?
They have high page authority and many inbound links. But I would like to pass the juice and the links to our frontpage or other relevant pages. What is optimal?
Should I just redirect all the traffic to www.newbrandname.com?
The redirects was made approximately 2 years ago.
We are in the travel & leisure business, so customers often visits numerous times a year, closing deals 1-2 times a year.
All 4 OldBrandNames have their own specialities (family, low budget, off-the-beaten-track, wellness). Any recommendations on how to approach this?
