Maybe im making it more complicated then it is.

Each page just has some sharing buttons, when someone shares the page using one of these buttons social signal is generated, end of, happy days.

So the type of thing you could do which is similar to your page is the social sharing box at bottom/left - http://blog.kissmetrics.com/

Penalties don't even come into this so forget that worry.

But do you get what I mean from that example link?

Also be careful, you got a facebook page which gains likes (fans) and then you got a like button on a webpage which when clicked 'likes' the website page on someones facebook page.

You want buttons on your site, which once clicked, basically places a link on there facebook wall to the page they liked.

I would be inclined to add some more social buttons and make more of them as well, you got that box on the left which just has 1 facebook like button.

Why not have a facebook, twitter, linkedin, stumble upon type buttons, maybe with even an arrow pointing to them with the line 'give this artist some love' or something like that.

If the sharing goes on your gain some social signals, which in turn will help with ranking.

Yeah I did find this very helpful, always good to know how someone has actually tackled this problem, it also reassures im not actually being silly and there is a better way of doing it.

Looks like unique for each page is the only way to go.

The only difference is I might add say 200 words for each page from start and then add 100 words more each month, I think this might make it easier to write more in each location.

I have done some serious testing on EMD's this year and have seen results such as country coded domains rank 1st page with 500 words of content and a social sharing tool to add with no link building.

I have done a lot of research into more competitive search terms using the seomoz tool bar and have seen 100's of EMD's with low mozstats (DA:30) against the surrounding results with (DA:50/70).

I've done the same sort of stuff with hyphened and other extensions and nothing comes anywhere near the true exact match.

But thats just me and my findings.

I did notice my contradiction from what I stated and the link I provided.

But decided to go with it anyway because most talk about an EMD as a way to boost rankings and I have tried and tested and find a true exact (non-hyphenated) to have significant ranking benefits over the hyphened.

So yes you are right and I am wrong that hyphened are a type of EMD but in my eyes a true EMD is a non-hyphened domain.

Go into Google and type 'Exact Match Domains' your notice loads of people talking about the benefit.

Just so you know exact match means exactly what it says on the tin, exactly the same - NationalCurrency.com is a EMD for the term 'National Currency' - National-Currency.com is not.

Yeah that is a option but your now looking at creating semi-relevant content (that's even if you can find something to write about for each location that is semi-relevant).

Lets say you have a cleaning company, you have a services page, which covers window cleaning, carpet cleaning etc, lets say the content on this page adds up to around 750 words.

Now lets say you would like to create new pages which targeted location specific keywords in your area.

The easiest way would be to copy the services page and just change all the tags to the location specific term but now you have duplicate content.

If I wanted to target 10 locations, does this now mean I need to generate 750 words of unique content for each page which is basically the services page rewritten?

national-currency is not better or even as good as nationalcurrency when it comes to exact match domains BUT I would say it still holds some weight.

BUT I would still focus all my efforts on your current site, the domain name does still contain your target term and any natural linking to your url will have some targeted anchor text.

If your not moving in the serp's, your better off letting us know what kind of link building you are doing because you might find a shift in link building to a different type might create some movement.

Your in a pretty competitive industry, something dropping in rankings slowly indicates to me it's just the fact your not building your link profile as well as your competitors.

OR you have stopped link building because you hit position 3 and they carried on.

You must be able to dynamically code the canonical tags into those 'new products'.

The really question is why have you got 2 pages? Surely you have a link in the cat and a link in the new products section linking to the same page.

I would stay away from doing that as good chance it could flag as duplicate content.

What would the ratio of reviews to current content be on a page?

I would be inclined to use it to conversion optimise, but only selecting a few of the better ones.

It's nice you have the resource in-house to generate content.

I would start with a few articles like 'How to create a killer intro for your CV', 'How to layout a CV like a professional editor', to me and im sure to others this is juice content.

But what defines what quality is when increasing a link profile?

For example say I had two blogs after my article:

1. Blog with PR3, 150 facebook fans, nice layout, DA:20

2. Blog with PR2, 25 facebook fans, basic layout, DA:40

I personally would give the article to #2 because the SEO comes first any other benefit is second, a DA:40 is better then DA:20 - im going with DA:40.

So let me ask, if you now had the chance of 10 links from either #1 or #2 which one would you choose? (from a SEO benefit point of view only).

Well you would think, but a lot of industry pros talk about mixing it up with a range of low and high value links to make the link profile look as natural as possible, im sure someone on here will disagree with me and you.
