Should you claim authorship on guest posts?

Suppose you write a guest post for an authoritative site, is it beneficial to claim authorship of the article by linking to your Google Plus profile and adding the site to your account as a site you contribute to? If yes, would you do this for dozens of sites? (since your contributor list could get really long).

If the site is authoritative, then definitely yes. By claiming authorship on guest posts you've written on authoritative sites, you build up your own authority.
If you stick to claiming articles only on high authority sites, you're probably not going to end up with dozens of sites in your contributor list, but even if you do, there shouldn't be any harm in it.

I agree with Takeshi. As long as you write for authoritative sites then you can only increase your own authority. If and when Google decides to launch Author/Agent Rank then you would have written a lot of good content on a lot of different authoritative websites. This is definitely a good thing.
Don't worry about the long contributor list. Would you think any less of a book writer who has written dozens of books?
