Redirecting to a new domain... a second time
FWIW, I think you executed appropriately. I would have redirected 1 -> 3 and 2 -> 3 just as you did. It is going to take a while for the authority to catch up to the new (#3) domain and I would expect a lot of that authority coming from 2 -> 3 since 1 -> 2 has had a lot of time for its authority to pass to the #2 domain.

"Leeching" backlinks...yes or no?
You may find that some website owners will question your motives and be suspicious if you are asking them to replace an existing link to a high authority site like Wikipedia. You might see better results if you suggest the link as an additional resource that supports what they already have.

Google fetch (more problems)
HeY!!! We have a coupons and deal website. Coupons are added and removed from the website on a daily basis. But crawler isn't crawling it that often. Lately we started fetching and rendering the page, but that is a time taking task as we have more than 500 stores with coupons. So, I was looking for some API or some method using which the crawler would crawl the website as defined. Suppose "x" store page should be crawled every alternate day as we daily update the coupons there, whereas "y" store coupons are update fortnightly so , they can be crawled weekly. Can somebody suggest me something..

Influence The Google Knowledge Box/Knowledge Graph
That is a pretty good example you have there of a slightly ... unexpected ... knowledge box! The knowledge box can draw data from a number of places, as Ron mentions schema markup and google plus pages are used as are other online sources like wikipedia (which is the source in your example) and freebase listings. Dr Pete has written a number of posts about this which might help (here, here and here for example) and another good article on 'hacking' the knowledge graph here. The particular case you mention is a definition box and is driven from wikipedia and might be pretty difficult to change, if you are looking to influence knowledge graph data about a company or an entity the above links should help.

700+ Genuine likes in 4 Days on a new Site - Does it risk Google Spam?
I think that nothing but good things can come from the kind of activity you are seeing. The key is relevance and value. It sounds like you have some posts that are helpful and relevant to others...This is the ultimate goal with social media. In my opinion this type of activity only sends positive social signals. The trick is to understand that every post you make is not going to get this type of response. My belief is that the fastest way to get into trouble is engaging in tricks or spammy behavior to replicate the lightning you have created with these posts. Even though it is harder it is important to stay the course by slogging out future contributions knowing that many will not get a huge response. As long as these more minor posts are relevant to your audience you will slowly build up a base and over time your will develop a solid base that is engaged with your social media outlets. This is the long term goal as well as the long term value you want to develop. Enjoying lightning in a bottle when it happens is good Planning on it is not ;( Building an audience that is a constant power source is the goal Hope this helps, Ron

Help getting a Wordpress.com site to rank
You mention that its only been a month. My gut feeling would be to say this really isn't long enough to see any tangible results in regards to SEO activity. As previously suggested aim to get your blog on your domain as quickly as possible and work your content marketing efforts from there!

Google requires that businesses that serve there customers at their customers' locations must hide its address. However, this causes an notice in Moz Local advising that the Google listing is inconsistent. Is that something to just ignore?
Hi Adam, I want to make sure you received the answer I gave to Stephen via the Help Desk as well. Basically, right now, yes, Moz Local in marking hidden Google+ Local addresses as inconsistent and this is negatively impacting the Moz Local listing score, but coincidentally, this is something our Engineers are working on to change. I don't have an ETA, but it is our plan to stop marking these as inconsistent in the near future, and this will remove any negative impact on the listing score. Hope this helps!

Content
Hi Samuel Scott Thank you for your response. I am still having trouble understanding all of this. Are you able to check through our site to see if we have everything in order for the rel=canonical?I went through the guidelines provided by Moz. I will be making some updates to the content so they are more localised. Unfortunately due to our merchant services, we can only accept NZ Currency which is a bummer, it would of been great to advertise USD and AUD on all the relevant sites. I have also updated the countries in google web masters as well. The only thing I wasn't so sure about is the rel-alternate-hreflang you mentioned, and funny enough I saw that my competitor had this, which caught my attention hence this post, and I can only see that the language tags are the only thing set on our site. I have talked to my developer about this, and he doesn't understand what needs to be set accordingly. Thanks for your help.

Disavow File Submission process?
I would go ahead and submit as this can have an affect on the algorithmic part of the penalty. You should still try to have them removed, especially if a manual penalty is in place and record your steps, but if you know the links are bad you might as well go ahead and disavow them.

Open Site Explorer Top Pages https Title tag issue
Here is what i got after talking to moz-help people. Thanks to David Lee. Sorry for the confusion! The pages are not returning a title due to the pages having a 301 re-direct at the time we crawled them which was in November. For any pages with a 301 we will not have any information for the title and we do not show re-directed URLs in the app. If we were to re-crawl the site we will be able to update the data to show the https links. You can see back in December the site was still resolving the http version which had the 301 re-direct in place: https://web.archive.org/web/20140625093032/http://www.hyperlinksmedia.com/ There are some new links in the queue for us to re-crawl the site so you may see better information after our next index release. It can take 2-3 index updates for them to appear.

Why is MOZ Local not finding any of my citations?
Hi Dino For Moz Local we only query and display listings from the following services on moz.com/local/search: For business name and zipcode search Google Facebook Foursquare Yelp (need recommend reviews) Superpages Infogroup Localeze Yellow Pages Factual Citysearch Best of the Web Bing Yahoo Hotfrog Acxiom The links to these pages will not show up on Open Site Explorer as that tool is completely based on backlink strength to your website and has no relevance to the physical location of your business. These sites do have high authority but your links are likely too deep for us to index as those sites have millions of pages with listings. Just so you know, here's how we compile our index for websites: We grab the most recent index. We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains). We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index). Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index. So for Local Listings, you do not want to use OSE for citation research.

How do I optimize a website for SEO for a client that is using a subdirectory as a seperate website?
Hi Dov, You can definitely create separate sitemaps and GWT accounts for your two subdirectories if you prefer, but I don't think that it'll solve your problem. It sounds like the problem is, pages on the original subdirectory probably have a higher Page Authority and are outranking your new pages. When there are two pages on the same site that are both relevant for a search term, Google tries to only display one. So, your best bet is to make sure that there aren't any pages on the old subdirectory that are relevant to the keywords that you want the new subdirectory to rank for. You have two options here: Remove pages from the old subdirectory that are ranking for terms that you want the new subdirectory to rank for. 301 redirect their URLs to the new subdirectory. For pages that you would like to stay on the site, change the wording so it doesn't compete with the new subdirectory. I realize this is really general guidance, but it's tough to give more specific feedback unless I can see the site. Hope this helps, Kristina
