Affiliate Marketing vs. Remarketing | What are the differences
Hi Jonathan, I can't say I'm very familiar with those particular companies, but generally affiliate marketing is promoting someone else's products or services in exchange for a commission, and remarketing is the practice of serving ads to people who've already visited your site, bought a product from you, etc. It's why ads for certain products can seem to follow you around the internet.

Google Analytics During Rebranding
Hi sdaily, I'd definitely keep the existing GA property so you can see the full history in that one property. That way, you'll still be able to compare y/y traffic, etc. With a new property, you'll be starting your data from scratch and comparing different date ranges will be more difficult. Just create an annotation so you can keep track of the changeover date. Cheers, David

How unique should a meta description be?
Thanks for your response BlueCorona! The pages concerned are for products and the 'wraparound' text regards free delivery and next day delivery - this is relevant to all the pages and also helpful to tempt the user to click as it's pretty much the best deal in the country. Would you still say that is detrimental? Individual meta descriptions over time... we have 25,000 products and add / remove many products on a daily basis so I don't think it's really a realistic option.

Change of address tool (Google search console)
Thanks for the reply. I originally thought I wouldn't (and shouldn't) be able to use this in this scenario but then I stumbled across this post. All 301s are in place and working and will closely monitor the situation in GWT. Thanks Again

Http resolving to https - why isn't it doing that?
Though the ideal plan of action would be to move all pages on the site over to https, the HTTPS certificate happens on a webpage by webpage basis—so there are a few things that could be going on here. First, the website could have chosen to only move forward with procuring the HTTPS certificate for certain webpages and neglected to get it for others, which is why it's only showing up on some. Second, as mentioned below, they could be in the process of transitioning all pages to https but not be all the way there yet, transitioning the pages in batches but not all batches have been complete yet. Third, the redirects could simply have been done incorrectly for certain pages! One of these three options should provide the answer you're looking for.

Breaks in meta |
While Google and the crawlers will still read all of the content before and after the break, the meta description is for use by more than just the crawlers! Users look to the meta description as a description of what kind of content is on the webpage in question, and use it oftentimes to decide whether they'll visit that page or not. For that reason, it usually makes more sense to use breaks in your title, and to make your meta description as descriptive and keyword-rich as you can while remaining relevant in terms of content. For example: Title: HVAC Company in Maryland | Heating & Cooling in MD | Montgomery County HVAC **Meta: **Are you looking for heating and cooling service in Montgomery County, Maryland? Contact your local MD HVAC Company today!

Local business with two separate websites...what to do?
Hi Ricky! If the client is determined to keep both sites, here is the only way to be 99% safe doing so: Only 1 site can list NAP. The other must not list NAP. You do not want any part of NAP shared between 2 sites. Do not build citations for the NAP-less site. Remove them where they exist. Zero shared content between the 2 sites. Define a totally different purpose for the existence of the second site. If site A is about the business, site B could be about something else, like maybe a community information portal about health care or something. Do not interlink between the 2 sites. If it's necessary to have a phone number of some kind on site B, it must be unique and must be answered with a different brand name than that for site A The above should remove concerns about loss of authority, citation inconsistency and duplicate content. Quite a bit of trouble, though, and may not be worth it unless the client can think of a really good, different purpose for the site B, other than promoting his business on it.

Is it ok to have two blogs for my website?
Hi Miss Thumann, One thing to be careful of when creating a second blog site is competition against your existing site. If you plan on using pages on this new site with content that is similar to or identical to the existing site, then you will only be competing against yourself for rankings. So if you would like to create a second blog, then I would HIGHLY suggest targeting different key words then you used the first time around

Looking for a Social Analytics Reporting Platform
Hi! I know this question is a little dated, but I still thought I'd chime in here in case someone else is looking for an answer! I'll start off by saying that I'm not unbiased, as I work for DashThis. However, as a marketer, it's still a tool that I'd be using even if it wasn't where I worked. It offers over 30 integrations (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Moz (and other SEO platforms), Facebook Ads (and other social media platforms), etc.), and one of the main advantages here is that the learning curve really isn't steep: there's absolutely no coding required when you're connecting your integrations. If you want a report that looks attractive, and is also easy to understand, I think DashThis does the trick pretty well. And if you want to get started even more quickly, you can choose a preset dashboard template instead of starting from scratch. They've been created with our internal marketers to reflect the most commonly tracked KPIs for certain themes (SEO, social media, web analytics, etc.). Plus, you can include as many of your platforms into the same report, so there's no hopping from one dashboard to another, which seems to be what you're looking for, right? You can also create an automated email dispatch schedule so that your dashboards get sent to your clients or the rest of your team (depending on for whom you're creating your reports) automatically. And since they'll receive a URL, they can access their dashboard wherever they are. Plus, your data updates itself automatically - for example, if your client wants to consult his/her dashboard mid-month, your data will be up-to-date until that point. If you have any questions, please do let me know, and since this was posted a while ago, I hope you've found a tool that works for you in the meantime! Cheers, Nathalie

Anywhere to get Facebook ad promo codes?
Hi there. I have tried some of the "coupon" websites, which say that they have working coupons for facebook. None of them work. As far as i know, If you signup for adwords, you can get a coupon for like $25 or so, but anything besides that is on personal basis, meaning that you have to spend money with FB ads, and then, maybe, they gonna send you a coupon. Other than that - you might follow official FB groups, they rarely give away some coupons. P.S. FB advertising is awesome for most B2C businesses and products, especially if your audience is quite large. See these posts for some case studies - https://moz.com/blog/10-things-ive-learned-while-learning-facebook-ads and https://moz.com/blog/1-dollar-per-day-on-facebook-ads Hope this helps

Google My Business Service Area Question
Yes exactly, in that case I would expand my radius to include the nearest metropolitan area. I would maybe not try to encompass the entire city of a city like say Denver, but a portion of it. In my experience, if you get overly ambitious with your service area, you end up with very poor results. I would ask yourself this question, how big is the radius around your office, where if you were to rank #1, would give you enough business to earn a living and grow your business, but not too much business where you're overwhelmed? That's where I would I would "cast my net" so to speak. Get rankings in a smaller radius and then you can expand a little from there if you're not getting leads or exposure from there.
