Is it worth editing older blog posts for SEO purposes?
If its the improvement of user experience - then the addition of relevant links is worth doing definitely, with respect to changing the content itself, I would be inclined to only make very minor edits and not disturb any of the long tail phrases you are ranking for.

Disabling Wordpress Attachment Posts
have you tried to "disallow" google from crawling your images directory in your robots.txt file? If you get a lot of traffic from google image search you would probably not want to do this, but if the current problem you posted about is your #1 priority to fix, not allowing google to crawl your image directory should fix your problem.

How do you measure content on a website?
There are several ways to measure the success of the content and these can be divided into two categories - quality and quantity metrics Quantity metrics visitor engagement metrics (time spent on page, bounce rate, page view per visit) conversion metrics (orders / conversion driven by the content) social metrics (facebook likes/shares, tweets and other share metrics) of subscribers to rss feed (if the content is a part of blog) of comments Rank of keywords driving organic traffic to the page Quality metrics quality of comments quality of social shares Feedback received from users LDA score (although LDA is a quantity metric it fits the quality criteria because the LDA algorithm essentially is a mathematical indication of how relevant the content is to a keyword) Best Sameer

Is this a directory or are they selling links?
Traditional online directories are losing its value in the eyes of search engines and a good example is DMOZ. Even though DMOZ was one of the most popular directory before 2009 (it still has some value) it is not the best link source. Local search prominence has allowed local directories to become stronger than a regular web link directory. The question a user should ask before investing in directory link building is are users going to appreciate the availability of this directory? Is this going to provide benefits to the end user? Is this a vertical directory within high authority website or is this just a collection of links? Is the directory locally targeted (think yellowpages.com , cityguide.com) (applies to local ranking) If the answer to these questions is no then clearly this is not a good source for getting links.

Absolute vs Relative URLs
I use a mix of both relative and absoloute, for navigation I tend to use relative links in case i ever move things around. However for content in particular articles or news pieces on a site i use exact links. I have found before that some of these have been used on other sites so including the exact link ensures that there is a link back to the website.

Should we block urls like this - domainname/shop/leather-chairs.html?brand=244&cat=16&dir=ascℴ=price&price=1 within the robots.txt?
I had the same problem on http://www.tokenrock.com because I was doing a lot of URL Rewriting, it's a CMS system I wrote, but the same issue apply. I went from 7000+ errors according to SEOMoz, and I'm down to 700. Here's a few things I did: Use canonicals on everything you possibly can. Redirect 301 the items in the SERPS that are identical. I'm not familiar with Magento to help you work though that side of it. Having a link like: domainname/leather-chairs-244-16-price-1.html would work much better. The ones you have listed are because somehow somewhere you (the site) have a link to it. Unfortunately some of the CMS's are written by developers who don't fully understand SEO and why the ? is a bad thing.
