Similar content, targeting different states
Thanks for the details. So, if you have at least one physical store in each of the provinces, the best bet would be to create a landing page for each of these stores, and put content on it that uniquely serves that region, including but not limited to: Name, Address, Phone, Thorough driving directions Photos Reviews from customers for that store Links to your local listings social profiles for that store Content highlighting unique factors about that store (regional inventory, events, specials, tips for the region, etc.) By creating these landing pages with each of your stores as the focus, and by ensuring that most of the content on them is unique, you should not have any concerns about duplication. However, if there are regions you are targeting where you lack a physical store, that's a different scenario. If that's the scenario, what are your goals for those location-less regions, and what would be the reason for serving them different content for one region than you would for another?

I have 100+ Landing Pages I use for PPC... Does Google see this as a blog farm?
Hi jfishe1988, could I ask - do you have analytics on these pages? In your initial question you suggest that the pages don't have any organic value but in responding to Alick you say that lots of them get organic rankings. As a couple of broader points: Google has given conflicting advice about how low-quality links are treated, Gary Ilyes has said that low-quality links are just ignored (which makes sense as a way to negate negative SEO tactics) so this may not be something you need to worry about if you aren't relying on these 100 odd domains to channel link equity to the site you want to rank. However, John Mueller has said that the disavow file still has value, as I say - conflicting advice. If the only purpose of these landing pages is for hyper-targeted PPC and you don't want any link equity that is coming from them in case it poisons the main site, you could consider adding a nofollow tag to those pages. That should mean that Google ignores all links from those pages to your main site. It would insulate your main site from any link-network based penalties but it would also remove any benefits the main site might currently be getting due to any backlinks those domains have.

I think you will have the best search result features if you put the appropriate script on the matching page for each of those functions. The home page can be just Organization, or the most important @type, such as Hotel, if that's the case.

Can you do custom date comparisons in Moz?
Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. Unfortunately, there's no way to compare what you see on the Dashboard for a Campaign to months past — the only options we have are Weekly and Monthly data, with the latest week or month respectively. If you wanted to compare what you see on the Dashboard over time, you would need to set up a Custom Report with the Dashboard module in it, and set that to run either every week or every month. That way you'll have a record of what those metrics said in the past, and you can compare two Custom Reports together to see change over time. I hope that helps! Keyword retrieval tool that uses Intentions. Does it exist?
Hy Richard, Are you looking to sell plumbing services only or to educate plumbers and also provide training or a place where they can come to learn new skills? If you google plumber the word 'plumbing' here in the UK appears in bold. So google Rankbrain consider those two words to mean the same thing So there's no need for AI? Just a google search. The intent has been determined by Rankbrain to be equivalent. At least here in the UK anyway. Please remember to like my answers if you think they're helpful.

Hold Off on SEO Changes After Domain Migration?
I did a site migration from Http to HTTPS and saw no drop but google was big on making sure such transfers didn't create and problems so people did them. They wanted to encourage it so gave us a little boost. I saw no drop at all. But have heard of HTTP / HTTPS % HTTP2 having problems with traffic dropping. But usually this was an error that had been made somewhere. OK so now I now that you are lettings that explains why so many pages. Things should have improved but lately I am finding my pages are not getting indexed as fast as they were a month ago. There really is a shake-up at google that is earth-moving at the moment. Sensors and chatter has been 10/10 for almost a month now with rumours of new things happening on 17th April. I'm not one of these people who is glued to webmaster world but I'd bet it's things out of your control that have affected it or delays in indexing that will get picked up in a bit of time. Try re-requesting all your crawls. I know what's obvious but it got mine finally indexed.

Can you separate keywords in body text?
Ok this is a seemingly simple little question that opens up an extremely large can of SEO worms. The general rules are: Exact match is great. But only if you can use exact match 'naturally' but there is nothing unnatural about writing "Best Chocolate Doughnuts in Chicago by Frankies" as your H1. That way you've got exact match for chocolate doughnuts and best chocolate doughnuts. But once you're into the copy then just write naturally. You don't need to be thinking about the keywords more about the topics and how your varieties, doughnut chefs, materials, tools and techniques are all highly rated and better than the competition. Make it authentic and write like you'd write it as though you were explaining it to a customer or even a bunch of people coming to have a look around your doughnut factory. For example, if you are local you can put the local identifier int he URL and i the first line of the copy and in the H1 and it will still sound natural and not like you're keyword cramming. If you struggle to sound natural, a great way is to say, visit our main page here: "Best Chocolate Doughnuts Denver" and then you've got exact match in the anchor internally too - which google still loves - no matter what they sometimes say. From your example what's wrong with writing both? Perhaps sprinkle some social proof in there when someone has said "OMG Best doughnuts in Denver" so you are backing up what you say. Also i've found that there's ore to ranking the 'best' of something than just saying you're the best. Google is looking at reviews, what's in the reviews and their velocity, diversity and exact match key-phrases. So get your reviews in order. I never say something on my site I cannot PROVE with either social proof, our accreditations or our degrees and independently verified information. Google is using the same things to verify who turns up on the maps and who is, in fact, the best. Also I happen to think 'best' is overrated because people will research 1-5 if they are interested in really finding who is the best. But that's just in my niche and from the testing I've done. To track keywords in specific region, how can I specify region, not long list of all the cities in it?

I'm afraid that given the way we collect localised SERP data, it's only possible to track keyword rankings on a more specific level - you would need to enter specific cities. Redirect closed shop to main shop, or keep the domain and content alive and use it for link building?
Hi Leana, Thanks for the question. If you're not updating or maintaining the small shop subdomain anymore, it would make sense to move all of those products/content over to the main domain and then 301 redirect all of the old pages to the appropriate new ones on the main domain. This feels like the best long-term approach given that you will be focusing your efforts on the main shop. This can carry some risk though - migrating URLs and content can confuse search engines and you can sometimes see a temporary drop in traffic even if the migration is perfect. I'd suggest testing the move first and move over a few products from the subdomain to the main domain, make sure you're comfortable with the process and then do more after that if it all goes well. This should help consolidate everything (including link signals) into the main domain and help long term. I hope that helps! Paddy

Phasing in new website - new content on www2
I don't think I would do it this way, RWesley. Why do you need both versions to be live and indexable at the same time? Most of the time people use a development environment for this type of thing. I guess I'm a little confused about the strategy here. Could you explain more about the reason you don't just do all of the work on a non-indexable, private development site and then push it out live to replace the existing site on www. whenever it is complete, along with the redirects from old content URLs to the new ones (if that's even necessary; which it is not if you're replacing old content on the same URL).
