  • Ok, so we could canonical the first page in the pagination, that way any links to the pagination would flow juicy juice to the first page. That would make sense, since it would strengthen its ranking as a landing page as well. I think ill implement the canonical and get rid of the content on pagination anyways, just avoid the problem completely. Ace Marty!

  • HI Andy, It really depends on the sector and the competition but I have seen quite a few examples of strong rankings in both the US and the UK for travel sites. This is a competitive sector although granted the rankings I was looking at were within niche and destination specific segments. If the site already has strong general metrics then a few decent incoming local links (and if needed adding some country specific hreflang content) is sometimes enough to give you a good boost. If on the other hand the sector is quite competitive with different market leaders in the two countries then it can be pretty tough.

  • I dont know if you think this would be a big factor, but iv noticed on moz that we have 'keyword stuffing' on quite a few pages. This is just a result of the category names on those pages etc. would this be the cause?

  • I understand. Dealing with cart systems can be very time consuming, depending on how many products you have listed. Look at what your baseline keywords are, and then add the filters from there. For example, you might want to include "teddy bear"  if that is a more popular phrase in trends and keyword planner, then add your color filters from there. Make sure your product description gives enough detail to back up your page title. One other thing you may want to investigate. If you are using a cms, see if there is a plug-in or component available that marks up your product info in rich snippets automatically. This will help your listings stand out, while saving you a ton of time. Best of luck!

  • We don't have the same crawl capabilities as Google, so it could be we're just not crawling those pages with the links. What types of pages are you getting links?

  • **Do you know how to do it in Windows (web.config)? ** Sorry.  I only know about .htaccess. When I purchase hosting I always look for those that can handle .htaccess - because it is so frequently used on my sites.

  • Hi Samuel, It does to an extent. Is there any way to automatically populate a NxM matrix (keywords x URLs) though?  I'm curious how each page ranks for each keyword right now. I'm just starting out in measuring our rankings on two sites that I want to make better. I'm also just starting my learning with regard to SEO - so this request may somewhat naive. My thinking is that if I were able to have moz setup some initial monitors for a set of keywords (e.g: please scan my pages, and monitor the set of keywords N across each found page M) I'd get the ability to see where my pages are at, across the board, without having to enter N x M combinations myself. In my case I know I have a limited set of keywords and a limited set of pages. The NxM idea above I guess is me being lazy.  I'm also pretty sure I'd remove pages from that list as I discover the keyword/page combinations I want to focus on. I'd just thought it would be an interesting starting point.

  • If you want to track an individual lead all the way through the end of the sales funnel and tie it back to the original traffic source to determine ROI, feel free to check out our tool Convertable. It's currently in free beta but we will be launching premium features soon. We created it because there was really no easy way to look up a specific individual lead within Google Analytics and tie it to the end of the sales pipeline. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for how to make it better. Otherwise, you can try manually setting up a similar configuration by extracting data from the Google Analytics cookie and passing it along to your CRM - http://cutroni.com/blog/2009/03/18/updated-integrating-google-analytics-with-a-crm/

  • We're actually in the middle of this problem and found a work around. If you get the invalid pin message: Login to your Yahoo biz dashboard, navigate to your client's listing and click edit. Make a quick edit (doesn't matter if you change it back before hitting submit). After hitting submit, it should take you right to the verification screen to either a) send a new pin, or b) enter your pin. Use the PIN you already received to verify the listing. We've done this a couple times already, and it seems to be working.
