Seo for company services page?
Cool , didn't know if it mattered for SEO to just have a title in the Nav labeled services with a mega menu with all of them on hover of to also have that service title in the nav clickable to its own page with the same link structure as the mega menu. I'lll create another page with all the links. Thanks

One guy using some Alexa rank tricks to gain high PR etc..?
Hi and cheers for your response! I think there is 1 important point which everyone should notice. Using Alexa toolbar + visiting through it on your own sites and acting for getting low bounce rate and visiting several pages with long time spent on site. Google is looking on to those as a ranking factors.. Ps.. I am using Link Research Tools, SemRush, MOZ and Ahrefs as my main SEO tools, have been using them for years now. Sorry, not meant to advertise those, but just wanted to mention that i am using many tools at the moment.. And, quality ones.. Thanks,

Pagination duplicate title and meta description
That's a slick piece of code but fortunately this is no longer an issue for titles of paginated posts when running the Yoast plugin. The paginated pages say Page "#" of "total pages #".

Is there a better way to wrap schema on a testimonial page? Example website shown
Hello Shawn, I like the logo resizing on that page. It looks like you're including star ratings, and I don't see any ratings on the page. If the page doesn't include the information it shouldn't be in the source code either. Otherwise it looked good. I tested it in the Structured Data Testing Tool and didn't see any errors reported, and the ratings showed up int the SERPs. Are you still experiencing problems or is this resolved?

Publishing testimonials on your site that are from your Google + (or other review sites page)
Hi Sam! It might be helpful to start with a little clarification here - in Local SEO, the term 'testimonials' tends to indicate direct-to-business owner content while the term 'reviews' typically indicates content that exists on a third party platform. In researching this topic, it would likely be better to search for 'reviews' rather than 'testimonials' as you are talking about third party reviews. Mike Blumenthal wrote a great little post about this earlier this year: http://blumenthals.com/blog/2014/04/24/using-google-reviews-on-your-website/ Hope it helps!

Is getting a top position in a local results block acheiveable if you are outside of the central zone ?
Hi Sam, You're getting some great feedback from the community - I have a couple of thoughts to add. While the concept of a city centroid has long existed, this has gradually given way to the concepts of: An industry centroid The user as the centroid You can read more about the industry centroid concept here: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-local-important/8906-google-local-centroid-not-city-center-affects.html And I highly recommend watching the Bright Local webinar in which some expert Local SEOs weigh in on key local search ranking factors and touch on this emerging concept of the user as the new centroid: http://www.brightlocal.com/2014/11/13/insidelocal-webinar-local-ranking-factors-discussed/ I hope these are helpful tips!

Why is the exact same URL being seen as duplicate and showing an error in my SEO reports
Hey Josh, You may want to speak with your developer on this one PHP is a server language and could be generating the unique pages and causing Roger to crawl twice depending on which way he approaches the page. I apologize for the delay here as I was not receiving notifications on this post.

Local link building
Miriam, Love the answer, some great info hidden in those links , Cheers. Also I love the "Happy thanksgiving" message. Being in the UK it obviously means very little to us apart from for some strange reason we have decided to adopt your "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" . All we do over here is have a few fireworks on the 5th November to remember some chap who tried to blow up the houses of parliament ages ago, no Turkey till Christmas for us Brits I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving anyway

Back links Building and article/blog posting
Hi, Yes, Justian is absolutely right, knowing your competitors is fundamental when want to do good SEO! Checking out your competitors‘ backlinks is definelty the best way to start looking for healthy link opportunities. I would go for the LRT’s competitive link detox (CDETOX). The tool checks yours and your competitor’s (up to 9) backlinks and tells you, which ones are healthy ones and which ones are not. You can sort the links by their power and their link risk, so it is a good way to decide on which sites you’d like to build a link. I think knowing if the links are bad or good ones is essential when trying to copy the competitors‘ links, caus in the end it doesn’t help having the same links as your competitors if they are bad ones! Also the tool calculates your total link risk and your competitors‘ total link risks‘ so it is a good way to see what kind of link risk is normal in the particular niche or you can see if it is likely that some competitors will be punished by a penalty in the near future. This is also good to know when planning your own link building strategy. Regarding the recommended amount of backlinks created per week I have to say that the most important thing here is that you link growth is steadily and increases slowly! Everything else would look highly unnatural. Of course, some seasonal fluctuations might be normal for a particular industry, e.g. a higher link growth some weeks before christmas and so on … Hope this helped a bit. Cheers, Harry

Google traffic drops (October 24th 2014) - Penguin 3.0?
Reviewing your client's backlink profile, I simply don't think the site has enough inbound links to trigger a Penguin hit. Sites that get hit by Penguin usually have very obvious patterns of link/anchor text manipulation, and I just don't see it. When it comes to Penguin-impacted sites, I usually see tens of thousands of inbound links coming from just a few hundred domains and an overcrowding of money keyword anchor texts. Looking over the anchor texts, I see very few money keywords (what Penguin typically goes after). I would be very surprised if this was a direct Penguin issue. Perhaps competitors that were previously held back by Penguin have recovered and are now ranking above you? I find that the Google penalty checker by Fruition.net is very useful for detecting whether a site was positively, negatively or directly impacted by a particular Google update.
