Linkscape update?? again not happeening?

Hi all...

Linkscape update was supposed to be done on the 11th.... then moved to 20th....

Here we are - 20th - and still nothing...

Does anybody know whats going on?

The last notice I read said it would happen on the 25th.

Like you and many others, I wish the Linkscape updates were more frequent. We all look to Linkscape similarly to the way we looked in college to receiving our grades. We are anxious to see the results of our link building efforts.

We really shouldn't though. In college, we had a darn good idea of what grades we were going to receive without needing to see the official document. Likewise with our sites we should have a pretty good idea of how our links are progressing. Keep in mind Linkscape only captures around 25% of the internet pages anyway, so it's just a guide and not an all-inclusive tool.

well said. key part of that "only 25% of internet pages", which for a small company like seomoz is an ENORMOUS undertaking with quite a bit of cost and effort.

i too get excited about linkscape updates, but i feel like it's a blurry picture at best, so i view it as an aid more than the end-all-be-all-this-is-where-i'm-at tool.

I do agree with you.. and I do have full and clear idea on how the links are progressing and I do use different tools in verifying the links... mine as well as competition, however to me Linkscape update is just something that is an addition to all that and it does have pretty interesting "GRADES" in it :)....

Well, I do hope that it will be available on 25th!

I think that an important part of the process would be, if it is a true statement, let SEOMoz know that as a customer you prioritize the predictability and frequency of new data releases over the release of new features. SEOMoz can only be as good as their customers' feedback.

Thanks for the feedback guys And thanks for being so patient with the delay of this new index! We know a lot you depend on the monthly index updates and predictability is really important. We've been working on improving the crawlers to be bigger, faster, fresher, but, unfortunately, have experienced some hiccups along the way We're doing everything we can to launch this new index to you all by the 25th!!

Also just wanted to let you guys know that this index comes with some fancy smancy stuff (which we will be launching/explaining in more detail at MozCon), but as many fancy things do, they took a bit more time than we had planned. In the future we will work our best to better nail down the date based on total scope of the update, and not just go off the usual cycle ranges. Our bad friends, thanks for your patience and feedback. We hear ya!

It's still happening. A little after 4:00 Pacific time this afternoon, the SEOmoz twitter account said :"It's in process of being released. It's a few hour process and should be done in the next few hours." So just a little more patience, it is on its way.
