If I move my site to different host do I lose analytics data

I took over management of a website. Moved it to new hosting. They gave me access to Google Analytics. I want to see what happened between June and July of 2016 when they redid the site and traffic dropped. But I can't see but about two months of data.

Moving site from one hosting to another is not a thing to lose data.
In that case the problem is in how was Google Analytics implemented. Or it might not be implemented before you took over management.

Providing your Analytics script or TAG manager is still using the same code then the tracking should remain in place and always be available. A drop would indicate as per Gaston's response that the code was inaccurately implemented or missing.

Did they change the analytics whilst in development, was it missing when going live?
