      Hi,

If we merge two sites say, one with DA 35 and another 20 what will be resulting DA of the merged site?

Secondly, will the result vary based on which Domain is kept and which one is 301ed?

ps :- all content is transferred from one to another using 301.

      Regards,

        Hi There,

It is a tricky situation, in this case using 301 would not directly transfer the domain authority but since the traffic might get transferred and eventually the site would trust and get some increase in domain authority. Given the above situation, it would be advisable to keep the higher authority domain and work on it, let the lower authority domain be 301ed to higher DA.

        I hope this helps.

        Regards,

        VIjay

          Thanks Vijay!

Also something to note though is that for us to update any 301 link, we would need to re-discover the old pages to be able to follow and update the metrics. This is not likely common for sites with lower authority since old links are not continuously shared on new pages/articles/blogs.

Link Explorer works solely through link discovery and crawling. For every link we index/crawl, these links are not guaranteed to be re-crawled.

          Eli

          • Our client changed their domain name. Can we replace without losing the data for the old domain in MOZ ? We are at our campaign limit would the old domain count as a campaign?

          • I have removed a subdomain from my main domain. We have stopped the subdomain completely. However the crawl still shows the error for that sub-domain. How to remove the same from crawl reports.
