Moz Forum email alerts freezing Outlook
-
I know it maybe a client specific issue but I wondered if anyone had any pointers.
I occasionally request to receive email alerts relating to a post within discussions on the Moz Blog. These emails come into my Outlook 2013 client but whenever I select to read one of the emails my Outlook Freezes for up to 3 or 4 minutes. The emails work perfectly on my tablet and phone.
It is just a bit annoying and I have stopped using the email alert option which is a shame.

I had a similar problem where i accidentally signed up for a Moz blog post. Is it the Moz forum or a Moz blog post?
My work around was to delete the emails a soon as they arrived thus avoiding it. Moz was unable to help me but they might of come up with a fix try giving help@moz.com an email. As you've done you can also just unsubscribe to avoid the emails. Never got to the bottom of it other than it was trying to pull data from Moz which is why it took so long.

The main issue I had is with the Moz Blog posts.
I actually got an email alert when you responded to this Q&A post and it also had a delay but nowhere near the length of time with the blog posts.
As you say it looks like it is trying to retrieve data from somewhere. I will try dropping them an email.
Thanks for your help

This doesn't seem to be 100% unique to Moz however: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2652320 and older: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/178bce4f-707e-42ac-8743-ac41b7a4e046/some-emails-crash-outlook-2010-when-reading-the-email?forum=outlook

I actually get a small dialog appearing see attachment.

Hmm... That sounds like a virus: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/outlook-2010-cloudfront-issue/fe1c78ac-1b8e-4f91-b1b3-e2cefcecc567

Same error I had, my advice is to not subscribe to the Moz blog and delete emails and they come through with time the volume should slowly decreases..

Looks like the issue is with the profile pics and how we're referencing the CDN. We fixed this a while back for Q&A, but didn't realize there was a similar problem for blog comment notifications. I'm submitting a ticket now to look into this and get it fixed. Thanks for letting us know!

Hey Keri,
Sam here, I'm still getting this issue with Q& A emails.
Not sure what causes it but it seems to be isolated to Moz.
