Facebook Spam - Suggestions?
-
We put a blog post up on our Facebook page earlier today. Within an hour, there were 560 likes and over 4,000 comments. While that sounds great, that is nowhere in the universe of normal. Almost all of that was spam (there were no services that we engaged in to bring likes/comments).
So, has anyone else here been hit by rapid-fire Facebook spam? Any thoughts on what to do - leave it alone, delete the post, filters, etc.?
Would love the advice of the Moz community. Thanks guys!

Define a "blog post on Facebook". Are you using an outside application on Facebook? If so it might be generating the issue.
We've had issues with Facebook spammers, but they spammed us with messages which we quickly deleted, but that was nowhere near the 4,000 comments you received. If you did receive 4,000 comments I would quickly delete all the comments and leave the followers alone, unless they continue to spam you. If that's the case, I would delete them.

That was terribly unclear, I apologized.
We linked to a new blog post from our Facebook page. Posted through Hootsuite, but that's never been an issue before.
Because it's a fan page, there are no followers, and the same number of "likes."
Thanks for the help.
