        Hi Christopher

Any alternative analytics tool you use will report the same "(not provided)" result. That is because the issue is not with Google Analytics but with Google search not providing the search phrase as part of the data passed to the analytics tool.

It may be worth you having a look in the Google Webmaster tool for the same site though as some data is available to view with that, but not as useful as it would be for tracking a search visit as it would be in Google Analytics.

        Peter

Yeap, Christopher I agree with Peter!

Not an analytics problem but Google encrypting and not sharing its info with anybody!

          1. GWT will give you "some" info definitely incomplete, rough and by no means manageable as presented in analytics.

          2. Unfortunately we will have to use (and pay) adwords to seek more about kw

          3. Would pay much more attention to other search engines, Bing? They do share though!

Look Rand´s WBF for more precise info.

          Maybe Google is "Breaking Bad"

I would def. still take a look at kiss metrics because its a much better analytics to begin with. The multi touch gives you so much insight to the people who are using the site. You're still going to get not provided but between Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster tools , Google Analytics and Kiss Metrics - it should give you a lot of actionable insight to making your pages better.

              Christopher,

I would suggest you use Bing WMT (suggested by Joseph also) and gather as much data that way as you can. I am not sure if Bing is over compensating to fill the void, but the data there is pretty good and certainly clear to see. There is just not as much traffic so you have to factor that and the Bing demo in.

              Hope this helps

              Robert

A Tool that can help you get the exct data of what keywords your viaitors are seraching for you is simply impossible. Bing might provide you some data but still not exact for Google!

But, yes there are tools and ways that you can use to get closer to that data. Rand’s special WhiteBoard Tuesday was very helpful in that case!

PPC if you have the budget but you should really focus on the customer acquisition funnel, website goals, pages bounce rate, time on site, keywords that you're ranked for on that page.. and improving the conversion rate. We just need to adapt and educate clients that its more then keyword rankings. Cant think just search engine optimization - this is search engine marketing, inbound marketing - the keyword in this is marketing.

Do not become discouraged or get mad at yourself about this situation.

A new paradigm is emerging, Google will not supply info about the visits that are coming from its search engine and we are obliged to work on this completely new environment, trying to find ways out and palliatives, in the meanwhile.

All of our proposals are to "overcome" this current situation for 100% not provided. Our obligation is to move forward and find alternative ways of coping with our clients’ needs and our thirst for info.

You (actually we) should start a new approach to Bing & and other SERPS from a different perspective. As Fishkin told in his WBF (actually Tuesday) it’s a matter of Google´s monopolistic situation, they are driving us to Adwords, and the only way out is to find other means of information different from Google´s search engine.

Come on, lets give Google a "damn good battle to fight" ( actually I do not mean any  battle, nor  fight 😉 but let us move forward)

                      Cheers
