We operate two separate businesses from the same location. Each has had it's own Google Place page.

For the past several months, the listings have been rejected, reinstated and rejected again multiple times. The status can change from active to rejected from one minute to the next without warning. Google does not provide any information as to why the listings have been rejected, nor do they indicate what can be done to remedy the situation.

We have not been able to see anything in the listings that violate the guidelines.

The business names are M.A.C. Sales Company and Detail Supply Plaza, both located at 12335 World Trade Drive, Suite, #9, San Diego, CA 92128.

      Any advice?

      Thanks -

      Jane

My first suggestion would be to remove the name being all in caps. It is understood that Google places will accept 2 to 3 caps in a row to try writing it as Mac Sales Company. That is what was causing me problems. Also add things like opening times and try to get happy customs to write you a review. Also worth reading this... http://www.google.com/support/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=107528

Jane, have you been able to get this straightened out at all? Did you try removing the name in all caps? There are often questions that come through regarding Google Places, so it's helpful to see what did and did not work for other people.

Do both businesses have different phone numbers? That could be an issue if they have the same phone number.

I think since they are both located in the same suite this is causing an issue. Google doesn't believe 2 businesses can reside in the same suite.

I just had an experience with a very similar situation.  One company that I work for runs two partner companies out of the same office.  Originally, they shared phone numbers, but we were able to fix that quickly.

When I submitted them to Google Business places one, or both were immediately rejected, and an older page (that I did not create) with a different name, still showed for our location and one of our phone numbers.  After several go around with getting it accepted and then coming back later to see that it changed itself back I resorted to contacting Google.  They claimed at first that I should have been able to fix this myself, and when I showed them what was happening -- I got a sort of "oh...  whoops... my bad.." email that then said they had fixed the issue, and after a few days it seemed to show correctly.

Here we are 6-9 months later and after writing this post I decided to check up on the status, and it turns out it has reverted to the original company...  So I had to go back and edit the post and my intent for posting...   It was quite a bit longer, but I didn't see the point in posting every detail of a process I followed that ended up not working at all.

                Hi Jane

There has been a fair amount of discrepancy regarding Google Places rejections, and unfortunately as of now, there are still difficulties in re-instating rejected submission for Google Places. Located here is a good article regarding difficulties with Google Places listings; in the meantime, you can start by ensuring you are using Google Webmaster Tools. The Google Places dashboard does not mention checking the Google Webmaster Tools dashboard, where issues may be occurring, so you may be able to find helpful notices there. As well, if you have two businesses residing at the same address, it may be beneficial to add an “a” and “b” to the suite number (if possible) as Google Places may have trouble identifying two businesses in the same suite.
