Try doing a search for "yourniche + directory" in Google, and choose the ones with the highest domain authority. There really aren't that many high quality directories outside of niche specific ones. You can also try ebook directories, app directories, css directories, etc. based on the kind of content you have.

Sorry when I can't contribute with a list but is linkbuilding via directories "still" worth the effort after Matt Cutts gave recenlty the advise:

(3) Don’t think about link building, think about compelling content and marketing.

You can buy them pre-compiled from places like fiverr. Don't get over excited though...directory links are worth about as much as you'll pay for the list itself
