Question on Directory submission

If I am submitting to directories for our site. Should I submit them as www.mycompany.com or http://www.mycompany.com or some other way.  Any best practices? Or does it even matter? I am a novice.

It will make no difference if you include the http:// or not - it's really up to the directory which they prefer.  What is important is :

• correct and most relevant category

• anchor text still matters I believe

• you want to try avoid the 'free for all' directories or placing your link on a page with LOTS of links on it already(or like all the way down on page number 40 of the category).

ps. As with most things in life balance and moderation is key - so don't go overboard with directories but rather use them as a part of your overall link building strategy.

No rule on the domain with or without the http. Sometimes depending on the site and how they have configured the box you put the info in you will get an error message. Usually, that means try it the other way:-)

As has been said it doesn't make a difference. Most people would think however that the link looks neater without the http://, so I'd say that's usually preferable.
