Do you want an SEOmoz profile badge?
-
As someone who shot up in the leader board like a rocket over the past few weeks due to Pro Q&A participation, I sure do want a badge! I'm proud of the recognition I've been getting for providing quality answers, and want people to see that - maybe even click through so they too join in.
-
Wow yes definitely

It can include anything or nothing, as long as it's got SEOmoz written on it I'll be showing it off

Does sound like it might be a bit big though if it has too much info on, would be good if it wasn't too big so that it can go in emails sigs, etc... as well. Membership level alone would probably do for me.
Not to put a downer on it, but I'd think cautiously about doing it. If lots of people from here start wearing the badge on stuff, you may find that it becomes a sig of excellency (which of course it should be). But then you may have fakes made, photoshopped to say "Guru", etc... by lots of undesirables who spam and scam, which could then make SEOmoz look bad if the victims don't know the difference, and don't know that their badge was fake. Scammers may try to get sales based on the badge.
Just saying

-
I'm sure it will be gamed too. Hard to say if that's enough to totally derail the thought though. What if it linked to your profile, a little harder to fake that?
-
I liked the idea, but would not include the number of comments badge, perhaps it will only estimulates useless posts. The others, however, sounds like a really good idea
-
I find the idea not bad - but I woudn't include any numbers at all. This enforces only "number hunting" in my opinion. As Thomas mentioned the "staff endorsed answers" do have a "real" value.
-
Like it, but am also in agreement with others recommending that it have more weighting towards the quality of answers some how.
-
Absolutely! Do you have other suggestions than mine?
- Thumps-up
- Questions answered (not concerned with quality, but it gives context to #good answers and # staff endorsements. Having 2 staff endorsements isnt much if you've had 10.000 answers, but great if you have had 15).

Good answers

Staff endorsed answers

I'd like to see Q&A stats on the main users page as well - http://www.seomoz.org/users?show=100
In terms of what I'd want to see from stats
Answers
Good Answers
Endorsed Answers (also, please go and endorse more of my answers :p)
Thumbs up (Combined or Separate from blog comment/YOUmoz thumbs)
Thumbs down (Combined or Separate from blog comment/YOUmoz thumbs)
or
Combined UP - DOWN
MozPoints
Level (also when do I get my t-shirt? :D)In terms of a badge however, you don't want too much info so:
TOP X SEOmoz Member (5000,1000,500,200,100,50,20,10-1)
AND/OR
MozPointsLevel
Comments/Answers
Helpful/Endorsed
I'd also like to be able to show other people my answers, as in a publically (or at least available to members) viewable - http://www.seomoz.org/q/my-answers
-
Did anything come of this? I think it'd be a useful addition to an "about page" on my own site to add user trust.
-
It's still a possibility, although to my knowledge nothing is in the pipeline at this time.
-
Thread bump!
-
Yeah I'd like to know if this progressed any further as a concept actually... any more news Cyrus?
-
Hi Cyrus,
It's been a couple of years since this was last discussed. Have badges moved up the priority queue for new development? Can we get an update, even if the update is "no progress".

Ha! Hard to believe this old thread is still alive. This was one of the first questions asked when we first launched the public Q&A.
We have actually kicked around the idea several times, but nothing has come to fruition. Good to know there is still interest. So, no progress, but we will keep the idea alive.
-
Thank you so much for responding to this still-kicking thread! And on a holiday!
My expectations were low given the age of the last post, but didn't want to start a new one and fragment the conversation. Glad to hear there's still hope.
-
Cyrus,
Add another voice to the list of "still want"!
-
Yes, do it.
It'll get you more links.
