Category: Reviews and Ratings

Dive into how to manage reviews and ratings for your local marketing strategy.

  • I'm a local dentist and have the same problem.  So we have 188 x 5 star reviews.  They are appearing next to every blog post I write and every services page but not the homepage.  Having those yellow stars in the serps and on the map is HUGE and tyou can get them just not for the homepage. If you're on wordpress theres a plugin called Google reviews for business that works really well for us. So all your team pages, about pages, blogs and menus can have the stars - just not your homepage. So you could create individual pages for each dish or meal if you like and have stars next to them. So as a dentist I have a braces services page, an Implants one, a cosmetic one and a whitening one, all with reviews in the map, on the page as a slider and in the blogs. So don't be defeated, you can do it really easily with the plugin!

  • I am not sure if you are using all the tools, Moz offers but here is something I looked at and took 5 minutes. I used one of your keywords that you want to rank for - furniture movers melbourne I then took from the SERP Analysis, the top two websites. Then in the keyword analysis, I used your website domain and did entire root.  THen added two of your competitor's websites.   You will see all the keywords everyone ranks for.  When you go to their websites, it seems they have a lot more content than you.  Maybe start adding more content about the services built around your keywords. 2cdhhLG.jpg MCSNbK4.jpg FU3g82z.jpg

  • Hey There! Are you talking about reviews from Facebook appearing in your Google Knowledge Panel? Feel free to link to a screenshot, or to one of the older articles you're referring to, just for some more clarification. Thanks!

  • Thank you, I have advised my coworkers and our client that we will not be implementing this solution as it stands on the website. I normally bring a lot of hard data with me when I need to fight back against something like this, but was a bit short this time around. I just may frame your description for assessing risk and hang it up over my desk. Cheers!

  • Hello, Looking at schema.org and Google, neither specify a certain number or reviews are required before integrating aggregate rating structured data. That being said, we usually start with a few reviews before integrating aggregate rating markup. Whitespark actually has a good guide for integrating this. Hope this helps.

  • You shouldn't have to delete any of them.  If you contact Google My Business support they can merge them and should be able to transfer reviews as well.

  • Yes, this is exactly what I mean, Nigel! Marking an answer as "Best Answer" also rewards the contributor with MozPoints and marks the question as "Answered."

  • Try Add lots of optimized content and build backlinks from niche directories and blogs & comments, but don't start spamming just for the sake of links.

  • Ah, good to know we've narrowed this down together! For another reporting method, I'd tweet GMB @__GoogleMyBiz__ and link to your GMB forum post. If you do succeed in getting Google to edit the spammed names, I would love to hear what you see happen in the local pack after that. It may/may not affect rankings, so your experience would be educational to our community if you can share it. It's been a pleasure chatting with you about this.

  • Looks like free tools compilation, with many options such as Article Spinner Online Grammar Checker Backlink Checker Link Analyzer and so on... But talking about your question the "Plagiarism Calculator Tool" looks like a basic tool which is ok if you just want to check just a few articles per month and manage some small blog. If you want to get seriusly or have multiples blogs with several post to publish and optimize then this are some options http://www.copyscape.com/ https://plagiarismcheck.org/ https://www.grammarly.com/ http://plagiarisma.net/ https://www.quetext.com/ http://www.plagium.com/ Best Regards

  • Perfect, thanks for your feedback We have third party, but I have seen sites which use both third party and google customer reviews. The only thing I am unsure of is, if a customer gets sent 2 emails & ways of leaving feedback it may get confusing... will keep looking into it! Do you have organisation schema or are you just focusing on the local listing?

  • Hi Mark: Two things should help you get this client on track. Read Google's guidelines (https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en) and pay particular attention to the sections on Name and Individual Practioners. Read them closely to avoid making costly mistake and let me know if you have any questions. Know that what Google wants to see on your GMB listings is what customers see at street-level. Whatever is on the street-level signage and print marketing, and however the phone is answered by the customer service team, is what Google wants on the listing. So, if the sign on the business reads "Jim's Paint Shop", that's what goes on all of the local business listings that represent that business, even if the legal business name is "Jim's Paint and Sign Shop, LLC". So, please read the guidelines and take point #2 into consideration and then let us know of any further questions.

  • Joy's advice actually provides point #5, Jeremy. Personally, I wouldn't recommend outing your own client for review spam, but in addition to consumers realizing reviews are fake, your client's competitors and their SEOs may realize it and report the reviews to the GMB forum or to a Top Contributor like Joy, etc. So, that would be a 5th point to raise with your client.

  • Thanks, that's a great tip! I've bookmarked that page, very handy to have that link. I'll bring it up with the team. I agree, it might be easiest for the sales team to share the link.

  • Hi BlueCorona, How you doin? I would like to ask you a question, I am wondering if I can integrate my google ratings to my homepage using schema scripts. That being said, my plan is to include the numerical ratings through AggregateRating and hopefully be displayed on Google's SERP when someone searches for my website. Since you mentioned that we can feature the said overall ratings. What would that link be? Should the link be visible on the Homepage itself? Example: "See all reviews" (This will be the anchor text pointing to our google profile placed somewhere in our homepage). *** OR *** Should the link be included on the schema script only. Let's say it will be included on the RelatedLink or SameAs property. Looking forward for your insights. Thank you and have a nice day!
