Removing a page in GSC - anyone done this?
No problem! I just did this a few days ago, so I'm not sure yet. I would imagine that if the URLs aren't linked anywhere or listed on XML, then IF they come back to them, they'll see a 404 response and move on.

(Australian Business) Ranks 7th Brisbane, but ranks 3rd in Sydney and Melbourne. Why is Brisbane ranking worse, how to fix?
If your product is trampolines, I would think there would be lots of linking opportunities from the schools and organizations that use your product. You might even be able to get a dot edu link from the gymnastics team.

Is Moz Local useful for a specialized small business?
Hi Amy, Thank you so much for considering Moz Local. Kevin has done a good job of summarizing the main reason a business might choose Moz Local - it's always important to manage your location data, and this is what Moz Local primarily does. The product ensures that you've got correct and complete information on the most important local business data sources. It also enables you to track, for example, how users are actually interacting with your Google My Business listing (like clicks-to-call, clicks for directions, clicks to your website) and alerts you to incoming reviews on a variety of platforms. Moz Local is also a life-saver if your business re-brands, moves or changes other basic data, enabling you to get all the platforms updated in a single step (instead of having to edit all your listings manually, which is a major pain!). You can see a full list of features here: https://moz.com/local/features As for leads, yes, we have seen leads increase in some case studies we've been doing, but that's not something we can guarantee, as each business' competitive scenario is unique. Please, let me know if you have any further questions about the product. I'm happy to keep chatting.

Google Local Changes Randomly & Our Site Keeps Dropping Off Search
Thank you so much! I've actually gotten permission to talk about the school's themselves for the sake of trying to get some support on this, since this is such a tricky problem. To answer your questions: 2. So the URL for Penn State Law (pennstatelaw.psu.edu) is not showing up when you type in "penn state law". Only the subdomain that is advertising for both schools at law.psu.edu shows up and the school is listed underneath it, but its own domain name is not appearing. For our other school, the 'Dickinson law school', when their name is typed in their website at dickinsonlaw.psu.edu shows up and then the law.psu.edu site shows up. So everything is working perfectly, and as expected for that school. 3. Years ago, the subdomain law.psu.edu was active for the dickinson schools of law, until the split. Now law.psu.edu is advertising for both schools, and has a series of pages on it that talks about the 2 different choices, AND each school has their own site: pennstatelaw.psu.edu, and dickinsonlaw.psu.edu. The URL that speaks about both schools was set up years ago I think in order to help keep rankings high and start to drive value to the 2 schools websites, and the plan was for that to go down in rankings as the 2 new websites started to build their way up - but it looks like the law site has really held its own at the top of search results for a lot of keywords for the new school. (Probably because the school name is so broad and a keyword in itself) 4. These schools are completely different which is why this is such a huge problem. They have different accreditations and the education is slightly different between the 2 so they share the same website at that one subdomain but the addresses, phone numbers and everything else is different. 5. I've been going through the Moz Local a lot and haven't found any major inconsistencies. The right school is popping up with the correct phone number. I might still look into this to get it exactly the same across the web, but both of the school's listings are popping up with correct addresses & phone numbers. 6. So it is not being listed as a department of the university, but its own school and academic college that you can attend. Technically everything is under the university, but that is not how it is being listed or advertised. Thank you so much for your response and any other help you can provide. I really have been thinking that the law site providing info on both schools is causing a lot of the problem but I know its a risk to start messing around with that if I don't know what to expect. Hope this can help other universities with similar problems too! Thanks again!

Multiple google places listing
Hey Mike, I believe you are asking about Google My Business listings, right? Provided they meet all of Google's guidelines, it's perfectly fine for a company to submit all of its listings for a multi-location business from the same Google account and the same IP address. What would not be okay would be a marketing agency submitting multiple clients listings via the same Google account. Agencies should always make sure each client has his own Google account so that his listings are controlled via that client's Google My Business dashboard - not via the agency's dashboard. It's always important that each client directly controls his own listings, even if you are helping him with them. Does this answer your question? If not, please provide further details.

SEO - Should individual doctors at facility claim a Google My Business profile?
Hey Jared, So sorry to hear about your duplicates issue. This may be one of those scenarios which would require a consultant looking directly at your dashboard. You may need to engage someone with good skills to do this ... but, before you do so, can you let me know: Are any of the practitioners sharing a phone number with one another or with the practice, itself? What exact language are you seeing in the dashboard regarding the duplicates? Thanks!

Found a yelp review by unknowing client of webdesigner who made a one page site. bad seo
Hey There OhMichael, I want to be sure I'm understanding your query. I believe what you are saying is that you are an SEO and have identified a website that you don't feel has been well optimized. I'm not quite sure if you're saying this is a deli you personally dine at, or if you just found this doing a Google search. In any case, how you proceed would be based on what your agency's sales practices are. For example, some agencies send representatives to local businesses, some do cold calling/cold emailing (a rather difficult approach given how inundated business owners are with these pitches), some rely on paid advertising or their organic strength to bring in leads, and others receive a large amount of business on the strength of reputation, alone. For my own marketing firm, we've mainly relied on reputation over the years, though when we first got started, we did do some cold e-mailing and personal sales visits to local businesses (that was back in the day, though, before owners were so inundated). The best thing might be if you had a personal relationship with the deli (like being a regular customer there) that would facilitate striking up a conversation with the owner about how happy they are with the amount of business their website is generating for them. Then, if they're not already happy, you might have an opportunity to tell them about what improvements to the website and local search marketing could do for them, and see if they're interested. If you have no relationship with the business, then cold outreach of whatever kind simply may not lead to anything for your agency, due to owner saturation. Have I understood your question correctly? If I'm not quite getting what you're asking, please feel free to provide some more details.

[Local Search] Do you get penalized by using a Google Voice number for each seperate business location?
Thank you everyone. I think this client is small enough and with only three locations, we're safe to proceed with Google Voice for now.

Client in Scotland wants to rank for France term
What Hurf said is almost perfect. One correction: "However, If they are targeting French speakers exclusively then I see a case for ruling out on a .fr domain, especially if you have a local presence over in France. " French speakers are in many other countries than France. Keep that in mind. But I don't think that pertains to you. I think Hurf is right in that you are trying to reach all Europeans or just the UK. You want them to vacation in France in your client's chalets. If that is the case, you are fine. There is no need to include the local information of the chalets across the site to make it look like you are from France. Are you having issues with terms in particular? Can you share some of those and the domain? We are happy to take a look!

Geo targeting option in GWT
Hmm Riyaz, check what sources, locations, folders, etc. are changing and losing traffic over time. Losing traffic significantly because of changing the server settings is highly unlikely. It's probably caused by something else or a normal flow.

Google My Business Login
Ack, are you trying to get access to a client's profile? An easier method is to get the owner to give you manager access so you can access it from your own account. You can follow Hurf's article if you're not worried about security and that should do the trick too. I've had some bad experiences with lack of security and wouldn't wish it on anyone, so I don't recommend it if you can avoid it.

Citations & Snack Pack
Hi Brett! I'm so sorry - I didn't see you had replied until just now. Okay, so as I understand it, you are using Moz Local to manage the listing for these 2 legally distinct businesses. While I want to be sure I've mentioned that Google doesn't actually pay any attention to suite numbers, I do think you have some important questions here that you'll get the best, most customized answers on if you get in touch with a Helpster at help@moz.com so that they are looking directly at your account. Please, shoot your questions that way and you will receive a speedy and custom reply, based on your own listings instead of any general advice I can give not looking at your actual account. Hope this helps!
