Paid links from directory listing and business listing sites are good or bad according to Penguin 2.1 update?
Thanks for your reply. I have one more doubt. If I am going to get links from say 10-20 links from paid web directories/ business listing sites which is of high PR (pr 5 and above) and quality sites, will it affect my website ranking? eg: http://www.rddesignlondon.co.uk/best-paid-directories-for-seo/ http://www.seotechnocrat.com/directory-submission-sites/ http://tradeport.org/tradeblog/?p=22

Is there a really good place to find high end, cutting edge web developers online.
If you ask my staff, they will tell you that we redo lots of work every month. That sounds like it wastes lots of money and employee time, but in the long run I am confident that we are making more money because we learned something from our bad guesses.

A suggestion to SEOs that cold call potential clients
Thanks for the courtesy. Not to belabour the point (so this will be my last response): But I never said cold calling was ineffective. I just said that it was wrong. In the grand scheme of the universe, it annoys people, gives business a black eye, and invites government regulation that over reaches.

What skills I need for a valuable SEO job
I helped a guy with an auto glass website in a city not far from Scranton. Almost immediately after the site went up they were getting most of their business from the website. The SEO was easy because the competitors were few and naive.

Great SEO Agency
based on everything i have seen, and if you have millions of pages. you cannot go wrong with Distilled. Major respect for them! They know their stuff, and they are super good at preaching what they do as well. which means what they do must be the cream of the crop. just my 2 cents, really do not know very many of them, but I can tell you these guys are true pros.

Six Reconsiderations and Zero options left - Where do I go from here?
Hi there, Google's official policy is that you should try to have the links removed before disavowing. I'm assuming you've sent out some emails and tried to have some links taken down, but you haven't mentioned link removal yet - only disavow. I'm just making sure. You say you disavowed links 6 times - did you combine those into a single file? Google will overwrite your previous disavow, so make sure you're combining the disavow lists. Finally, if they were ranking well based on bad links, they can't expect to simply regain their former standing without those spammy links. The spot checkers on reconsideration are always a little arbitrary, so you just have to deal with that. Your only option is to decrease the odds that they'll find bad links by either increasing the proportion of good links or decreasing the bad links.

Google still showing sitelinks from old website
Once you do the 301's, the sitelinks will resolve to your site even if nothing else changes. Most likely, over a small amount of time, the sitelinks will change a bit given the new site. Best to you, Manny, Robert

Google Site Warnings via Phone?
Hi Keith, Google does sometimes make phone calls. See: http://www.localseoguide.com/hey-seos-if-google-maps-calls-dont-answer/ http://blumenthals.com/blog/2010/08/03/google-now-calling-to-confirm-google-places-community-edits-verification-issues/ http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/maps/rXf6l1sXxgo However, I am convinced that everyone on this thread is right and you were called by a marketing company. I've received calls like that, myself, in which the caller has gone out of the way to erroneously suggest that they are somehow connected to Google. When pinned down with the direct question, "You work for Google?", they have hung up the phone on me! You were smart to ask about this, Keith.

How many different webmasters should I maintain for educational based website for different search engines ??
Typically you will have your bases covered by using both Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools. They both report and value things differently, so you should (in my opinion) monitor both of them. The only other reason I can think of using another webmaster tools suite would be if the geographical regions you are targeting prefer different search engines. If that is the case, then I would suggest using that search engine's webmaster tools as well. You will not increase your PR or DA by simply signing up for these tools. You could potentially increase your rankings if you use these webmaster tools to fix errors that are reported, which could possibly increase your rankings (depending on how many errors you have... I have heard that Bing is more concerned with errors than Google). Hope this helps. Mike

Your experiences with Ekomi and Trustpilot reviews
I used them in PPC and I got pretty good results. For Adwords they are not complicated to set up - I wrote a while ago how to do it - http://moz.com/community/q/yellow-ratings-stars-in-the-google-serps You get better CTR for ads and certainly better visibility and trust. The only problem is to keep a high average star rating, or else they disappear. For SEO they might be a bit harder to set up, but I think you get the same benefits. Better CTR and more trust. I can't think of any good reason to avoid them - if you have very good products!

Manual action penalty by Google
The penalty is for links rather than thin or duplicate content, so at this stage I would primarily focus on your link profile. If your content is indexed first with social signal pointing to it then Google will (should) know you are the originator. You will need to systematically go through every single link coming back to the site. If you have any URLs 301ed to your site then those link profiles will need close examination too. If you have had a manual penalty you can't mainly get it right, you have to completely clean out anything with a whiff of toxicity. Keep a close record of all your activities, possibly using a tool like Rmoov, when your have exhausted manual attempts use Disavow then file a reconsideration request. There are some good threads and posts on here covering all these aspects.

Google Analytics (Not Provided) Count will Increase 100% by Oct 2014 ? - Your Advice ?
Adapt. Find other sources of keywords and rethink our current keyword practices. GWT is the next best bet since they aren't hiding what keywords people used to reach the site.

YELP: Legit, or is it wearing Prada's with a black hat?
No! They should use Yelp, just in the right way. Expect some bad reviews and be prepared to deal with them, fix whatever went wrong. With any business there will be good/bad reviews, just don't try to manipulate to your favor, sooner or later that can backfire (as it is happening to the lawyer, or even customers can spot those fake reviews).
