What do people think of Google discouraging guest blogging
Didn't surprise me, instead of trading a link for money you're trading a link for content it's still a paid link.

Best Tools for Invoicing, Accepting Payments, Sending Receipts
We have been using http://www.getharvest.com/ for the last few years. It's decent, but I think we'll move away from it shortly as we no longer really use time tracking. I'll be looking at something that integrates into Xero, or if Xero does recurring invoices, I'll just use that.

Impact SEO when sharing with other PC urls a mobile website url
Hey Letty, It's been about a month since you posted this - how are things going? Did the information Thomas give you help the process? Just to make sure I'm clear on your original question, the situation is: You have 5 desktop websites on 5 separate domains You have mobile versions of the site, but just on 1 domain (as an "m" subdomain) All of these sites currently share the same mobile platform The issues are: To search engines, it will look like 4 of your sites don't have mobile versions, and the one mobile site will have "duplicate" content with the other desktop domains Visitors may be skeptical if they try to visit one domain and it automatically redirects/recommends that they visit another URL for the mobile page The answer is, basically, you're right. Search engines are getting pretty good at recognizing when a separate mobile URL or subdomain is actually the mobile version of a desktop site, but this structure is really confusing. (If it confuses humans, it's probably going to confuse search engines.) You should really set up separate m.site#.com subdomains for each site you own and mimic the structure of your desktop site on each one. Did that answer your question? Is there anything else I can help with? Kristina

Has anybody used Yext or Universal Business Listings as an automated approach to getting clients into all of the many directories? If so does it work? Or does Google penalize in using these automated services?
Another wrinkle with using Yext. It appears that the links on many of the citations created by Yext, do not link directly to the business. Instead, they pass thru Yext first before being redirected to the business.

Are doorway pages making a comeback in the top 5 places in the SERPs?
Look at http://www.wordtracker.com/academy/keyword-basics-part-1-how-search-engines-work Some of the issues really having this website are making this way as a result using different twins to get to actually click on the landing page. It is not a source code does not necessarily mean it is bad. Honestly if it adds to the end-user experience finding the best thing that they can looking like if for bed bath & beyond bedsheets then I don't think it's bad thing. If it is going to up them in the SERPS just in order to just get a higher ranking of course it should be blacklisted and it should be under the category of black hat technics however I do not believe it is. I hope I've been of help, Thomas

Changing my physical Address. How do I?
I'm reading Christopher's explanation a little differently. Christopher, are you saying you have a single business (a flower shop) that you originally listed at something like your home office address, but that the flower shop is now moving and you want it to be listed at its new location? If so, this is the procedure: Edit the existent Google listing to show the new address. This may require re-verification and may result in ranking loss, at least temporarily. You may also lose your reviews. However, if you have the new Google Places for Business Dashboard, the good news is that it is possible to request that Google moves your old reviews to the new location. Read Googler Jade's explanation of this here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/business/3IyA72bx3o4 If you have the old dashboard, you cannot do this and will likely lose any reviews associated with the old address. Launch a citation cleanup campaign in which you discover and edit all mentions of the business across the web and update them to reflect the new address. This includes mentions on your website of the old address. If you are saying that you are also changing domain names (not sure if this is what you meant) you need to change this everywhere, too. You may experience some fluctuations in rankings, but hopefully you can keep working towards building authority over time.

Is LittleBlackDress.co.uk under penalty?
Thanks Tom, I think we have a similar school of thought to that. We will continue to add good quality links and go for high authority links over a sustained period of time. Unfortunately we worked with a bad SEO provider in the past who claimed "Google moved the goalposts" - this is utter none-sense as they just used spammy tactics for their clients to make money. In many ways I'm glad Google have updated their algorithm to be more sophisticated as it is rewarding the better SEO's & Link builders. Eventually I think those bad links that are still in our profile will be diluted and we will remove them as I think they will negatively affect us at some point in the future i.e. "Panda 3.0" but that might be a few months off yet. Cheers for the advice Paul

Effect of changes on the Content page on search ranking
Aditya, If the dynamic content is focused enough and your page title and back link anchor text correspond to the focused content you may be able to remain fairly steady in the rankings--depending on the term and the competition. If the dynamic content is all over the map and the rest of the on-page/off page SEO isn't well focused you'll likely have a tough time of it.

Big established websites outranked by new thin low DA sites. How and Why?
You've gotten some great responses so far. I thought I'd add my two cents. Prior to the Penguin update on May 22 of this year, why do you think you were ranking above these other sites? Was it because Google saw the quality of your site? Or is it because you had a lot of links pointing to you? It most definitely was because you had a lot of links, especially links containing your keywords as anchor. And that's how things should work, right? Links are important because they are a vote from Site A for Site B. But are your links really true votes? I had a look at your links in ahrefs and you've got 294 domains linking to you with the anchor text "calgary web design". Here are some examples: http://www.cheaphostingsites.org/directory/articles/5151/1/How-Beneficial-it-is-to-Hold-an-Outstanding-Online-Site/Page1.html http://www.articleon.net/automotive/cut-down-your-automobile-insurance-rates-with-some-of-the-following-steps/ http://www.articlebook123.com/Article/42719/Experienced-Web-Designer-Would-Deliver-Fantastic-Results.html http://articledirectoryabc.com/Article/246682/Internet-Site-Designing-Simpler-Using-Calgary-Website-Design-Company.html These are all low quality spammy articles and there are a LOT more of them too. This is exactly the type of spam that Penguin was created to devalue. It may not be that Google is trying to show low quality sites above you. You've definitely lost the link equity you once had from those links. What we don't know is whether Penguin just devalues those links or actually causes a negative value to be applied. Google says that Penguin is not a penalty but simply an algorithm change. I think it's possible that what you have done by building these low quality links is tell Google that they can't trust the quality of links that point to your site. I haven't taken the time to look but I am guessing that the sites that are now ranking in the top places are ones that have a link profile that consists mostly of naturally earned links.
