  • I'd 301 it. I haven't tested it but it makes the most logical sense.

  • Here's my opinion; Google's spiders will have more difficulty interpreting and following affiliate links using the onclick="window.open... method, but that doesn't mean that they can't. To my knowledge they can follow these links and even pass juice between them. Although I'm not sure that it would affect your rankings and so whether changing the links would do anything; after all, they're outbound links. If you were to nofollow them, then you would still loose the same amount of link juice, it just wouldn't flow to the trading sites. On a separate note, as you know; Google's problem seems to be that you're acting as a 'middle man' from the sites who are actually selling the treadmills. From the odd story I've heard, unless your site is bringing something 'unique' to the equation then they don't like to have it promoted in their advertising space, they prefer to have the actual seller paying for the advertising. One way I've heard to get around this is to have a PPC specific landing page that concentrates purely on the review side of things, however I'm not sure whether your site would be flagged by them now or not.

  • While there are generally a number of different ways to do the same thing, you are definitely doing things right.  Its a lot of hard work as I am sure you know, but in the long run and over time you will see benefits from your efforts. Regarding having links of others on your site.  You bet, there is definitely some benefit to having some  outgoing links.  Keep up the good work!

  • Hi Keri, Thanks for your message.  I am still looking for solutions. What I was thinking is : click on a partner link in my site opening an internal  page testing the Ip of users by country by PHP REMOTE_ADDR']; and sending users to the good affiliate link in function of his IP. The user arrive to the partner site. Can you tell me if it's a good idea or not and if it's SEO friendly ? Thanks in Advance, Renaud

  • Hi! We're going through some of the older unanswered questions and seeing if people still have questions or if they've gone ahead and implemented something and have any lessons to share with us. Can you give an update, or mark your question as answered? Thanks!

  • Amir, You can use Google Trends to see if people are searching for related terms. You should also try those queries in Google, Yahoo and Bing to see what the competition is, if any at all. Enjoy, Randy

  • Hi, Thanks for the message. So, really, a site that is the advertiser is not going to get link juice off of it's affiliate program even if it uses a hosted solution, instead of CJ? Thanks...

  • If the scheme has a very clear target market you may even want to consider a bit of old fashioned marketing and send some info to targets in the post.

  • Thanks for the info. I've just switched to iDevAffiliate. Too bad I still need the pro version of 1SC for the upsell and digital download modules. I was also worried I was going to have to buy iDdevAffiliate for $200 for each website that I want to point SEO Links to, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks again.

  • Every industry is different you can use keywordspy.com to see how much your competitors spend on ppc but with out testing the correct keywords you will not really know - because alot has to do with the way you setup your ppc account and the how well the site is setup to convert people (price, trust, usability, etc)

  • There are a lot of different reasons why they chose this way to place the blog (software, hosting-limits, easiest out-of-the-box setup, etc..) It does not do too much "damage" though. Having a sub-folder is the best-practise but using sub-domain is the second best. It would be "harmful" if they used another domain, which is not the case.

  • EGOL has pretty much summed it up! I know when I first came here, I was a little overwhelmed as well.  What I found worked best for me was to just keep reading.  It's amazing how much stuff goes into your brain and stays there!  LOL! But I'll emphasize again that the SEOmoz Beginner's Guide that EGOL mentioned is really really good. One other thing that I'll add is: "Don't be afraid to make mistakes".   I get guilty of not wanting to implement anything for fear of it not being perfect.  But really, anything can be modified.  So, start implementing stuff on your website and see what works.  And if you're not sure then ask a question in here.

  • I only ever had to file a reconsideration request once. In that instance it was processed in a bit under 3 weeks. Google will respond, it may take a month though. If I was in your position, I would continue to look at every aspect of my site and links as try to determine any possible reason there could be to remove your site from the index. In the mean time, wait the few weeks for Google to respond to your request. I can't recommend 301'ing the site at this point. If the site was permanently removed from the index, then certainly use 301s to your new site.
