Setting Up Author Tags on Wordpress Blog
OK I understand. Similar to what I have done on http://www.cookwareblog.com.au/? the latest post is linking to my G+ profile, the 2nd newest post is from another author within our company. I'll guess I will wait a while and see if they appear correctly in the SERPs. Thanks for your help!

Who to aim an on-site blog at?
Thanks for the details. It sounds like doing both might be a good move. Perhaps you should have two blogs... the original to share information and expertise with customers and another for people in the SEO industry. If you are a thought leader you might get a lot of links.

Do social signals pass through a 301 redirect?
Hi Bimmer, Thanks a lot for reporting your results. I agree that it is easy for Google to figure out that if Page A 301 redirects to Page B (regardless of which domain each page is on), they can look up the Opengraph counts for both the old Page A and the new Page B and pass the value to Page B. They just haven't publicly acknowledged doing so. That said, Google is a data monster, and OG is open. There's no chance on earth they're not trying to make the most of whatever of that data they can touch. In regards to people changing the OG:url property, I know that there is a way to do that, but, I personally would prefer any new likes to apply to the new domain, and not to an old URL. If Google comes out and says they're passing social value of 301s, then I might reconsider that belief. Thanks again for your feedback, very helpful!

Infographic/Link Bait idea. Unrelated to my site though, suggestions?
Hey, great thoughts. Much appreciated! I could do a survey around job satisfaction pretty easy. Have tons of data there. Was looking into that. What did you mean by the 'ego bait angle' and top 10 lists? Sounds interesting. Also, could you elaborate on the inspring people with online presence/profiles. Those seem pretty intriguing/possible. Thanks!

How to promote a blog after Penguin and the Google blog update
Hi Thomas, Great question. Fortunately, there's a super awesome resource on just this topic. It's called: 21Tactics to Increase Blog Traffic (updated for 2012) To be fair, the best ways to promote a blog really haven't changed that much in the wake of Penguin or other algorithmic updates. If you are creating useful content in a way that engages your audience, and then apply smart marketing to promote that content (see Rand's post above) then your blog will be above 95% of all other blogs out there. If you're specifically looking to build links, there's a ton of good ideas here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/4 Best of luck!

Facebook Page not in Search
We link to it from our website, blog and some news articles we wrote. The name is "brand - kw, kw", but would adding 2 keywords after the brand really make us lose all of our Facebook rankings? That doesn't sound right.

What is the best way to promote a blog like blogsport or wordpress?
You can choose any of the platforms on a self hosted domain. What you should be focusing on is the quality of content. The content should be unique with your thoughts and inferences/inputs even if it is about a generic topic that can add value to the users. Also, share your posts and participates in discussions on social communities to create a buzz as as as gain authority as an author in the respective niche. This is the only way forward if you want to future proof it from Google's algorithmic changes.

Social button yes or social button no...
Thanks for your reply Jamie. I think there's not only black and white in code writing. Theoretically you have to produce perfect html/xhtml W3C standards compliant code but you also have to face many changes in standards, the needs of your website, cost ties, velocity issues etc. For example, if you try to validate the piece of code I placed upon, using xhtml 1.1 standard, the w3c website will warn you because you can't use not supported attributes. It's clear: Google doesn't need to follow standards, beacuse Google makes the standard, but what really Google thinks about my site without Facebook buttons is the same as it would think with them? For example if I insert the following piece of code which is a tag that describes the entity your page represents, what's the googlebot's impression? In the end also a visitor will perceive the difference, if he will have to wait additional secs, waiting for the file download, especially if he uses an old single download channel browser. I don't know if the sum of all theese issues exceedes the advantages. Does someone has some evidence about it?

An interesting way to deal with comment spam? (just 4 fun)
Whilst I like your approach in how you turned the blog comment spam into a relevant piece of content for your target audience, any process in outing comment spammers or any other associated processes will result in a lot of wasted time. Comment spam is deployed in bulk, hitting millions of domains at once. The comments will largely be made using gmail email addresses so that the blog owner can't easily just ban the email domain from posting due to legitimate users of gmail. The entire process is automated, using scrapers, bots or other 'black-hat' software. The email addresses are widely not even maintained (real) - it is really of no bother to the creators, if the email address is added to mass marketing / email lists as whoever is employing them for mass spamming will own hundreds of thousands of email addresses with new ones being created every day. There really isn't any effective way of manually combating spam, not one that most can really justify the use of their time dealing with... Unfortunately.

I've noticed that the websites ranking above mine are constantly modifying their site. Everytime I refresh their page it shows it has been modified. Is this helping their ranking? If so, how are they doing this?
I do keep fresh content on my webpage but this is like them having "live" content.
