  • Yes your Facebook page will help your online presence; whether it really helps the "SEO" of your Website very much is debatable.  Here are some steps that will improve your presence in search results- Complete the Basic Information in the setting tab of your page.  Within this ensure your NAP (Name Address Phone Number) is an exact match for how it appears elsewhere online.  Provide your website url both in the website box and in the About section. Number of likes and shares are generally considered to be beneficial.  So continuing engagement etc is beneficial

  • After reading this interesting article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-prepare-for-authorrank-and-get-the-jump-on-google Suggesting not hte ctr% of  picture in results is beneficial but actually Google will take auth rank into consideration. If this happens, its not fair on brands who write quality and trust content.

  • I'd suggest starting a business Twitter account. There's no time like the present right? You might find that interaction on Twitter is better or at least different. Being in both can be very good for your brand too. That's what I would suggest.

  • No worries Ann, I like to share resources I have faith in. I have had a quick look/see at the service, and the insides look very interesting/promising. It's defiantly worth a look either way, im just wondering now if VCB would work well with Followerwonk!

  • Yes, thank you for the response. I heard it and also read it somewhere in the ART OF SEO Book from Rand, but didnt know how much it affected on rankings. It makes sense that sharing has more of an effect than liking, but i wasnt sure! Thanks for the response!

  • Increasing page shares with targeted keywords (1-2) have helped me get rankings. Along with reviews (social) and video.

  • Hi Bob, I honestly think you will be best off posting the full scenario in the Google And Your Business Forum in case any bugs are involved. In the meantime, here are some resources that might help: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-places-important-updates/168-how-detect-verified-status-google-local-pages.html http://marketing-blog.catalystemarketing.com/missing-google-places-google-local-images.html http://www.localsplash.com/local-seo-2/how-to-determine-whether-a-google-local-page-has-been-claimed-and-verified.html http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/business/FcPdPDzbMbk/xJWAFVeRJrkJ The Local Search Forum article is especially good, but I've included the others in case they have some info in them you haven't seen before.

  • IMO a simple like button in the header of the website works great. This way it's easy for a user to "like" you from any page in the site, still keeps them on your website (rather than redirect to fb page), and retains their attention as you make future fb posts.

  • If this were a case where someone had used SEOmoz in a case study, I would probably send a tweet something like "So Cool! Thanks @bigcompany for using us in this great case study: http://casestudy.com - Check it out!". But this is the "Moz voice" so obviously you should use your brand's voice. Alternatively if their tweet is short, you could RT and add your own message at the beginning, like "Wow, Thank you! RT @bigcompany This is a case study on xyz, bla bla bla http://url.com". Hope this helps!

  • Technically it is gaming, but it happens more often than you think. I, personally am a bit of a perfectionist and wouldn't be able to put my name to anyone else's work.

  • Hi David: As Doug notes, Followerwonk is currently all about Twitter social graphs and profile data.  At the moment, we don't do trend tracking or analysis.  We are working on a number of new features which we think you're really going to love down the line! Peter

  • I was looking into it, and didnt know if a specific facebook tag such as the opengraph one or just a generic tag such as: would be better? Thanks for the reply

  • Sorry i didn't reply sooner, but thank you for answering the question.  Your article made me identify a lot of concerns and thought maybe that the practice was in fact something that may end up problematic. I appreciate it.

  • Hope I've helped. If you were on about the benefit to your page rankings from having a like button then there isn't one - but that is not the point of the facebook like/share button. What's the URL?
