  • In my limited experience, 301's will redirect +1's, as Arjen said. For example, this page http://moz.com/blog/how-to-rank gained most of it's +1's before a 301 redirect, and those plus 1's are now associated with the page.

  • Hi Guy,  I remember seeing you at SEOChat a while back. If you have figured out how to fulfill the giveaway with no problem then it sounds like a great thing. I don't see anything about giveaways that suggest that they are anything less than white hat. Almost everybody loves freebies.. So, I would go for it.

  • Interesting - thanks. It's a bit hard to pin down, because Google has been changing the "volume" on authorship mark-up a lot these past two months, and that means both up and down on any given day. Authorship also seems to be page-based and probably query-based, which means any given site could have and not have the mark-up depending on the page and/or query in play. It's a real-time evaluation on Google's part.

  • Thanks. I actually used wildfire with great success before Google bought them. Now they want $1,500 per month which is not in the budget. I went with Woobox.

  • I would worry less about what your communication to them says and more about identifying the market. To get a 20-40% return on who you contact, you're going to have to put in some major work into who these site owners are and if they want or need help. This isn't a numbers game, it's a market identification game. If it were me, I'd spend time on a few web design and website development forums looking for people who are asking questions about their site or have concerns, and then develop conversations with them. Step away from this being about you and make it about them. Hope that helps!

  • My thinking was if you read the Beginner's Guide, then you can be able to better tell if an "expert" is truly an expert, or trying to feed you a line and take your money.

  • Facebook and Instagram both have filters of sorts that won't allow the visibility you'd like. Has to do with trust factors and the sheer volume of people posting. Idk how new or old your clients instagram is but that may make a difference. Also if you're not on top of what facebook has been trying to do it the world of cutting back on free impressions you should read up on it. Sorry for not having an article to post

  • You can only target to fans of pages you're currently an admin for.  Assuming this isn't the case, there is no way for you to do this as easily as "Target fans of page [competitors name]". There are lots of other targeting options available on Facebook.  If you can somehow figure out who your competitors fans are (i.e. e-mail address, phone number, or Facebook ID), you could reach them with a Facebook custom audience.

  • Thanks for the insight. If that's the case, we're covered as a result of having all of our locations (with unique phone numbers) on Google Maps/Places... which evolved into Google+. Thanks again, Erik

  • Hello, We ran a couple of boosted post ads in november and october to promote a survey we were running but that's it - nothing recently and the only ads listed in our campaigns are the two I've mentioned above.

  • Do you mean the "Most Popular Blogs"?

  • I see this quite often with companies who've set themselves up on facebook. It makes no sense for businesses to have a personal profile. Those profiles are designed for people, and yes it's a violation of the terms of use for companies to masquerade as people (be it intentionally or otherwise). So a profile like that is in risk of being deleted by facebook at any time. Also from a user point of view it makes no sense to have to 'friend' an entity, and just looks plain weird when referred to as a person. e.g. "company ___ has just updates 'his (or her)' profile photo". etc. At least your company in question do have a proper page setup, so there really is no point in having a duplicate showing up. If they are using it as an account in order to access their Page they can do that so easily from their personal profiles. The Admin roles in facebook are now improved with a couple of different access levels from full admin to content creator, so there's no reason why the business owner, agency, content creators and anyone else can't manage a business Page with their personal profile(s) for access. On your business Page you will be able to build on those Likes and run ads etc. as it was designed to be used. My advice is delete the personal profile (making sure you'll be able to access the Page via another account first). If they have 'friends' customers etc. on that personal profile maybe post a message to forewarn them that you'll be deleting that account soon and to head over and Like your Page to keep updated. Hope this helps.

  • Strange, I tested on my site and the load time is 2.69 without the plugin and 2.75 with the plugin. In 2008 our "friend" Matt Cutts wrote a post where he suggested 5 plugins, I am not sure how relevant those plugins are after so many is years, but is worth a try. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/wordpress-plugin-related-posts/

  • You'll get denied if the settings of the post aren't completely public. If for whatever reason that person doesn't share the post to the world, you won't be able to share it with everyone and it will have limited view on your wall. Hope that helps!

  • Awesome! this actually worked for one of my accounts. Unfortunately one of my accounts wont let me do this, or unlink them so I can do this. From what I am reading it has to do when and how the Youtube or Google+ profile was created. This was very helpful. I am going to keep playing with my owners/managers, and logging in with different users, and info to see if I can eventually get this to work properly. I am debating deleting the unwanted Google+ profile, and seeing if it will then allow me to attach a different google+ profile to the youtube channel. I am afraid that deleting the unwanted Google+ Profile will also delete the attached (wanted) youtube channel.

  • Right! And there can be secondary effects.  If you are running surveys and people bounce back into the SERPs instead of answering the question, could that result in a ranking reduction because of poor engagement?  I have been running surveys and am cautiously watching my engagement and rankings.
