  • I agree 100% with Erica that's what I was trying to explain to my 1st post. That is going to have to come up with a different domain regardless of whether or not you shorten it or simply choose a different TLD it should be noted though that only bit.ly enterprise & AWE.SM are capable of allowing a person to create a unique short domain and creating a name after the/of your choice there may be another tool out there that can do it however to the best of my knowledge. Bit.ly's Personal Edition will allow you To create a unique extension only if  no one else on all of bit.ly has chosen that ending. Chances are they have though, and it's wise to go with tool that will create a short domain that is capable of making your brand look good. the 1st answer does still answer your question. It's what I would do and what I have done that's why referenced the bseo.co link because I can to exactly what Erica stated  save space on social networks and create my own short domain that redirects to my homepage if it does not have a unique URL it needs to 301 redirect I hope this clears everything up. • This is no longer allowed.  Notice when you do this from interests, it says "People who have expressed an interest in or like pages related to SEOmoz.org".  This isn't necessarily mean you'll reach people who like the SEOmoz page, but people Facebook thinks are similar to people who like their page.  To reach fans of a specific page, you have to be an admin of that page. Twitter does the same thing for their targeting, you can't target people who follow a specific account, but you can target people like those that follow an account.

  • The answer would be - neither. It's not quite correct to describe something as being preferable to Google in this instance (because ultimately Google want everyone to put all their videos on YouTube then embed them everywhere so they can make loads of money in ad revenue), but in terms of SEO for an eCommerce site, and assuming your videos are to some extend product focused pieces - you should avoid YouTube altogether, because it can cannibalise your rankings, while giving you very little benefit in terms of seeding on YouTube.com (people don't go to YouTube to find products to buy...) I've written about this extensively here: http://moz.com/blog/building-a-video-seo-strategy and here http://moz.com/blog/the-marketing-value-of-youtube So, your best bet is using a third party paid hosting platform, e.g. Wistia, Vzaar etc... where you can retain full control of the videos and use them to drive traffic to your site and generate leads/sales. In terms of implementation, It probably won't matter a great deal, as long as your videos are visible to Googlebot on pageload and not delivered dynamically with JavaScript etc.. All you need to do then to get the rich snippet is submit a video sitemap.

  • Thanks for your comments Nishadha !! I would deifnately do so for different languages but keep seeing and hearing seo/social peeps say that for both seo & social reasons you should set up country specific social paegs such as Twitter and FB So i still welcome peoples opinions as to which ones ?

  • Hi Tyler, This should do it. If you don't do this facebook will scan all the pics and give a user an option to choose out of the scanned images. If the above is used once it will give one default image to be selected. You can use multiple og:image tags to allow the user to chose multiple default images that you have selected. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Christy, Sorry for the delayed follow-up. I did play with it a bit and I do agree (and appreciate) with all responses but I think I can add something... It seems that the basic fact of having a "G Follow" on every page already covers the rel=publisher part and the Google Structured Data Tool @Adam here recommended does show my company as the publisher even though I did not specifically add rel="publisher" (simply because of the Follow button). This is also why I don't know if I need it along rel="author" since I have the "Follow" button on all pages but I assume that you are correct and the two are not needed together. Thanks

  • I'd say that SEO skills allow you the segment the customer base more effectively, by understanding different customer groups, what keywords they use, and how they interact with your content. A social media campaign needs to be targeted at a particular customer segment. The deeper your understanding of that segment and their information/entertainment needs, the more effective the social media campaign will be.

  • Hi, one Q in regards to this - over what timeframe are the stats pulled in for? Is it in total or for that day/week?

  • Hey Nacny, Moosa recommends the simplest way. You can set Width, Height, Show faces, Border, Color, Stream You will get 2 codes Code 1: Javascript, you will have to place within your body. May be in footer or header Code 2: Where you wan to place it either in sidebar or footer or anywhere! That's a way! Regards

  • You want to be careful about duplicate content doing that. Your site's going to be easier to control the meta tags and such. If you're going for just bigger audience exposure, more stuff to share, etc., you might consider deindexing those posts. I'd suggest reading Dr. Pete's post on duplicate content post-Panda. On the other hand, Tumblr's notoriously bad at SEO without major tweaks so it might be worth looking into where you're ranking (or if you are) for your Tumblr and then going from there.

  • If you follow someone on Google+, content they share will be biased higher in your search results, if you're logged in to Google yourself and don't have personal search results disabled. That's the only definite. Here's more: http://moz.com/blog/using-google-plus-to-appear-in-the-top-results-every-time-whiteboard-friday As for showing other social signals on OSS - they're a useful metric to know, and will probably become more of a ranking factor in future. Shares from established Facebook/Twitter accounts with lots of followers will probably carry more weight. See Moz's Ranking Factors survey for more info:  http://moz.com/search-ranking-factors

  • Let's start with the basics. There's a tag there that does not exists: "fb:ids", I guess what you wanted to use here is "fb:admins". Now, the debugger is actually using the content in your meta tags properly. I tested also posting it to facebook and it also shows the appropriate data as you have specified in the tags, see the screenshot. HDMRMmY.png

  • Thanks for the responses. Visit duration for the root domain is 9:31, with an average of almost 10 pages/visit. And while we ARE actively promoting on Facebook, we don't have a link to that specific page. I'm doing an experiment this week - not posting anything at all and seeing if that affects traffic numbers. I have a feeling it won't. And no, we don't have any purchased traffic that I'm aware of.

  • Hi Takeshi, Thanks so much for getting back to me on this one. I am aware of Bing's experiments with Klout and just signed up for it today to test it out. I will be your response to my client. I can see this is a very aggressive move on Google's behalf. I wonder if eventually they will get dinged as Microsoft did on monopolistic behaviors. hehe...time will tell. Tks for your time! Have a good weekend Carla
