  • So far my best method for same day indexing is having a history of posting daily and doing it consistently.   In my case, I was getting indexed like you were.  After awhile, my indexing rate picked up.   I think this is one of those SEO issues where the answer is keep at it and hope they notice.

  • I think you have to be a little careful here, and not just from an SEO standpoint. Now, you're talking about potentially taking someone else's content from behind their paywall and posting it publicly. I don't know the context or the industry very well, but you may be encroaching on a legal gray-area.

  • I'm very confused about where the 404 fits in - are these dead pages? To re-capture the link-juice, you'll need to 301-redirect (which it seems like you're also putting into play). In some cases, if the pages are gone or never existed, just let them be gone. If you take every single URL everyone could ever visit to the home-page, you may generate so many 301s that Google starts to get suspicious. We've seen some issues with this lately. In many cases, it's also just not a good user experience.

  • I agree with Mat on this one. Also, building links to one page and making it stronger can lead to it ranking well for those same long-tail terms that are only in the on-page copy instead of in the page titles. Also, I think the one page approach is a better experience for the users.

  • Wouldn't worry too much about keyword density. It was possibly a factor in the early age of search engines. But today there's no correlation. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/10-myths-that-scare-seos-but-shouldnt-whiteboard-friday

  • Hi there, Without knowing more about your site, it's hard to say exactly what the best practice is for your situation, but obviously you want to build relevant links to topic specific pages. It's possible, if your main pages are optimized in a way that aren't providing any benefit, that you could try freshen the content on those pages to more accurately reflect the keywords you're trying to rank for. Really, out of the two options you proposed - building new pages or updating the old pages to take advantage of the existing link equity/authority - it's really a toss up. More important is going to be the quality of links that you build to those pages. As long as you're building new links, my preference would be to create new content. This preserves your old content (assuming it's relevant) gives your domain greater link diversity among a higher number of URLs (deep linking) give you a more options in the future if you ever have to "cut" spammy links Either way, as long as your building new content and creating new, good links, you should be fine.

  • Seriously, people over-estimate the importance of having a keyword in the domain. Google have said they are weakening the importance of this and have said many a time that a good brand is much more important. As Kevin rightly says, that is still 1 factor in a list of over 200. There is still opportunity to get the keyword into file names (therefore still in the URL) if you really want to. But don't over-emphasis something that Google is de-emphasising. You should build a strong brand first rather than making longer and longer domains just to get keywords in. Save your money and keep & use your main branded domain.

  • I already do. So maybe it's not necessary to worry about the blog's root page? Thanks.
