  • W3C Schools CSS Checker & Markup Validation Checker I use these religiously for every audit I perform.  I run both on the home page, and at least one page from every other primary template on a site.  I then run them both on at least one or two other highly visited pages that have questionable page speeds as well.

  • Unfortunately, all we can do sometimes is to keep marching forward and observe.  If no improvement comes at some point, then more answers need to be sought out.

  • Hi, In google webmaster tools my sitemap was not added before now I added sitemap to www.mydomain.com. I have also add mydomain.com (without wwww) to google webmaster tools so do I require to add sitemap to mydomain.com also? When I added www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com to google webmaster tools so does google see it as one site or two however I kept preferred domain as www.mydomain.com Thanks

  • I have the same query. Here is what we did : Kept the category title on h1 . Then a one liner description , which is same as meta description of that page as h2 . Then 3-4 lines about the category in simple words, without making it look too promotional. I guess, we are on the right path.

  • Quite a bit more - distribution methods go up to $295.  You used to be able to buy "credits" and get a bulk discount, but I'm not sure you can any more. Personally, it's a bit too much for my liking, but I guess this is the perks of being an in-house SEO!

  • Hi Chris Thanks for your answer. Well, that's good to hear. I looked around for more threads related to the subject and as you hinted, even if the number of on page links is above 100 (not in the 1000s of course), it should be ok, if they are relevant and add to the user experience. Oh yeah, I am not trying to hide links or menus I am perfectly fine with the content offered on the site and where it takes the visitors, but I guess there's not much you can do about the links count, if the ones within menus are tracked as well. Unless your site consists of only a few pages... Then you may be able to make it under a 100 links, but it doesn't sound feasible. Thanks again!

  • Thank you Devanur.  I will make use of this if a 301 redirect solution can not be found.

  • Hey Highland :), Nice to meet you, might of been a funny bug that it didn't display your name the first time. Have you seen this happen before ? If so could u (or anybody else) plz post 2 serp links displaying the same url but with 2 different page titles? I was only aware this would happen to meta descriptions (either a piece of matching text is taken or in some cases the dmoz.org description) thanks in advance

  • The second one most likely, but it could be only partly or unrelated to either. It's hard to give feedback without knowing the business or more details.

  • That's an SEO companies IP I think if you're looking at level of competition, ppc $ and monthly traffic estimates that can be a good start but you are also part SEO part business consultant so you need to factor in the clients margins and other factors as well if you want to do your job properly in my opinion. With existing websites there is always this sunk costs bias which I tend to see creeping in as well which affects people's decision making process.

  • You shouldn't be using a redirect at all for a mobile site. You simply tag the mobile site with rel=canonical and then rel alt the desktop site. 302 redirecting is the biggest mistake ever. Run away from this vendor as fast as you can.

  • Yeah I looked further into the URL removal, but I guess technically I did not meet the criteria....and honestly I am fearful other potential implications of removal....I guess I will just have to wait for the 301 to ick in.  I just cant believe there is not a simple .htaccess code to cause all URL's to show the .html extension.  I mean it is a simple thing to implement the reverse and have the extension dropped...I mean....good lord... Thanks for all your help though Mike, I truly appreciate the efforts!

  • It's hard to tell in such a short time frame, but without knowing additional information that is most likely the cause. If you were Google, why would you rank your site instead of Indeed? Additionally, you'll probably want to clean up some of your exact match keyword anchor text such as the ones on these pages: http://subjecttracerbots.com/index.php?c=37 http://director-web.net/World__international_/page-16.html

  • I am sure on the 301. I use http://www.internetofficer.com/seo-tool/redirect-check/ to check and it shows 301. I checked with and without the trailing slash. The sitemap is created and submitted everyday. The old urls are not accessible anymore. I am just stumped.
