Which is better? Google Data Highlighter or Schema markup?
If you use Schema.org, you don't have to use Schema Highlighter... it should doing things twice. Use that time for something else

Google update on 4th September
Hi, just a further update to my earlier post. My site actually recovered in September, following the 90% drop in organic traffic. It recovered to normal-ish levels after about a week. Following Hummingbird I didn't experience any dip in traffic at all, but then late on October 11th, my site experienced the 90% drop once again! I've got my fingers crossed that it's another temporary drop, but it does worry me since the drop is so drastic. Does anyone have any suggestions why my site appears to be so temperamental in the organic listings at the minute? Many of my pages that have dropped from page 1 to page 3+ have got great, unique review content, and in analytics, they show a low bounce rate. Users who find these pages seem to enjoy using them, they have a good conversion rate, but Google just don't seem to like them at present. I've not yet been able to find any online chatter about others experiencing similar drops on these dates, which confuses me even more. My site has never had any manual penalties - at least, they have not been flagged up in GWTs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks Mike

Does anyone have a clue about my search problem?
Thank you for responding Richard. That would have been easy if there were any purchased or bad links, but there were none. There were some links from blogs in sidebars and I did have two blogger blogs that referred to a number of our stories, but all of those were removed, and the two blogger blogs were deleted. Most of the linking domains are real businesses. I believe this is all about content, but I could be wrong. This is why I need help.

Can I use the same set of social media accounts on two sites?
I have done this myself and I see no problem with it at all.

Pages Titles in SERPs - Wordpress Site
OK here are the issues, stop using hyphens (-) and stop using pipes (|) these is seen as an attempt to stuff words in just for search engines. Google thinks that this will not be a good read for its users and will rename them. Also please keep in mid that Google does change title tags based on the search query sometimes to give you a better click through rate. They are testing things all the time. Also make sure your meta tags are the correct lengths for best results, some you have are very short and just one word not great for SEO and others are too long.

Yoast Seo Plugin
Thank you so much Paul for looking into this! You made my day much brighter! Are you sure that also having page 2 like this is alright, I really do not understand why is it there:-( <link rel="<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">next</a>" href="<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://villasdiani.com/page/2/</a>" /> I do not see this kind of page on other sites.

Canonical Tags being indexed on paginated results?
Yes that makes perfect sense. I had no idea that Google would use its own discretion on whether to honor a canonical tag or not! Totally agree that noindex is the way to go then. Thanks!

Should we use URL parameters or plain URL's=
Personally, I would agree with you an opt for the following option: clone.com/Apartments/New-York?price=30&size=100 I don't think it matters whether that section of the URL is readable to everyone. I would actually say that anyone who has a technical background would find the URL above easier to change than the other one, as having /'s in the URL almost symbolised different directories rather than a parameter (that's how I would generally interpret it anyway). I think in the grand scheme of things, It's going to make little different as you don't want the additional sections to actually be indexed in the search engines. Like Gary correctly pointed out, you can setup 'URL Parameters' in GWT and I think that's your best option. There's more information about that here - http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/improved-handling-of-urls-with.html You could also use robots.txt to block the parameters in the URL but this depends on whether the search engine crawling your website chooses to use it. Hope this helps! Lewis

Google's Structured Data Testing Tool? No Data
Steve, if you ever figure out what the problem was, please let me know. I've got two different client sites that have the "invalid URL" problem. I've dug through and cleaned them both up via the usual HTML validator, thinking maybe it was some unclosed tag or something sending the parsers off into La-La Land....to no avail

Worth contributing articles to a Page Rank 1 site?
Great direct advice, which I shall follow. I guess the 2nd step is after creation of good valuable content is to .... share it. I'm thinking in my case sharing with jewelry industry news websites, bridal websites, wedding planning, mens fashion websites. And if they think it is valuable content, they can mention it and send a link to our content. So this is good, right? I'm developing an indepth article as we speak that I think is valuable.

Best practice with duplicate content. Cd
Yes it is best practice. you can read more about it here : https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139394?hl=en It might not of been your designer more your CMS system that's create the pages.

E-commerce site structure & link juice: Bouncing off an idea
I'm still a little confused. Perhaps because we are thinking of different things when we say "category page"? I think of "category page" as a special page in the flow a customer goes thru when they start on your home page. Like this: Home page (has links to all the categories) >>> Category page (has links to all the products in that category) >>> Product page (has complete description and the Buy button) So in my view, it is perfectly normal for the Category page to have a link going out to each Product page it serves. That might be 5 products or it might be 50 products. If you feel there are too many products showing on the Category page, then you can use Sub-Categories to decrease the number of links. Like this: Home page >>> Category page (has links to all the sub-category pages) >>> Sub-Category page (split logically, like Men's bikes and Women's Bikes, or Under $200 and $200 to $400 and Over $400, etc) >>> Product page You may also want to check with your e-commerce system provider. If they don't have an arrangement that you like, there are lots of other e-commerce systems out there...

Best Practice For Company/Client Logo Endorsement
As Mike pointed out, this is pretty subjective and I think you can pretty easily make either argument. I think I'd tend to avoid the slider as it takes up a lot of space, but that's just an opinion. If you really want to find out if one is better than the other for conversion, test it using software such as optimizely! Otherwise, I'd go with your gut. To answer your questions: 1. I think the practice you described sounds good, should help establish credibility and trust, right? 2. Using the SEM Rush example, I might add a quote from one of the above clients for added credibility. On your /clients page, I'd probably do a couple things: I would add quotes/testimonials for each logo if possible - it's one thing to work with someone, but it means a lot more if you have a quote from them. Second, I'd look at doing case studies if possible. As I mentioned earlier, you should really test everything. Everyone has an opinion about CRO that's based on their experience but every vertical, niche, and company is different as are their customers so don't just take someone else's word for it. Test everything!

Duplicate Content www vs. non-www and best practices
_If I have some inbound links pointing to www.MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com and some pointing to MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com, I would think that this rewrite isn't necessary as it would seem that Googlebot is smart enough to know that these aren't two sites. _ Absolutely NOT, unfortunately. Search engines specifically consider these two versions of the URLS to be two totally different sites. The redirect rule you currently have is specifically in place to correct this problem so the two versions of your site (in the eyes of the engines) aren't competing with each other. The previous developer knew what he was doing. Leave the redirect as-is. Just be careful that all links you create use the primary version of the URL - you'll retain a bit more "link juice" that way than having them go through the redirect. (i.e. always write links as www.my-customer-site.com/whatever for links in content, menus, incoming links where possible) Paul P.S. For proof that search engines consider those URLs different sites, Google's own Webmaster Tools has a setting where you can tell Google which version of the site URL you want to be primary. Much better to do this with a proper 301-redirect though so that you can tell ALL search engines, not just Google.

Any problems with two sites by same owner targeting same keyword search?
I have adsense on niche sites that are on same topic as small portions of much larger sites. I don't see any problem at all with adsense.

Redirecting non www site
Thanks for the help guys, but ......... Well maybe I left out a few important pieces of information, because we need more accurate information. First we are not on a shared server, and don't use c panel. We are on a stand alone server. We don't use GoDaddy for anything other than that's where the domain name was purchased, so they currently have the DNS record pointer. We are running our website alone on a windows server enterprise 2007 edition. So even though EnvoyWeb above provided a detailed answer, those directions don't work under our edition of windows server. Any incite? Please?

IP Address: Ownership Location Versus IP Resolve
Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. If I were strictly trying to understand how Google, for example, sees my IP address, do they see it as a Canadian IP address even though it "Resolves" to Dallas, TX?

How do I best handle Duplicate Content on an IIS site using 301 redirects?
