Moz Rank and how to do better?
The existing links could themselves lose MozRank, which would mean a lower MozRank score to the site that they linked to. Most sites will decrease in MozRank over time in the absence of new links being built.

High level rel=canonical conceptual question
Yes, if you redirect URL B, it will not be indexed as content. It will be ignored by Google. Well... Not ignored, but Google will acknowledge the URL B shouldn't be indexed.

Checking Mobile Site Response Time
Hi Sara, The tool Tom suggested sounds good, although I haven't used it personally. A couple things I do to check mobile site response time: Google Pagespeed Insights is really good and provides recommendations for how to improve page speed. If you're using a Chrome browser, you can also use the right-click 'Inspect element' feature to view the load timeline. In 'Settings' (the cog in the lower right corner) choose 'Overrides' > 'User Agent' and select a mobile user agent. (NB: you can skip this step for a separate mobile site with a URL different to the desktop site if you're able to access the actual mobile site via a desktop) Exit the 'Settings' overlay and choose the 'Network' tab. There is a 'Timeline' column which shows the time each element of the site took to load. Hope that helps!

Blocking some countries and redirecting that traffic
Hmm a 5 years old post. A lot have changed since then. And still not sure what would be the best way to do it. Completely block, show some page saying they can't access or what would be the best?

Link to homepage or brand page?
Few years back you could totally go for all the links to the homepage if you wanted to have your homepage to rank well. These days Google looks at the link relevancy that was mentioned above, and also link diversification that is natural to multiple pages on your website. So another vote for "give them their brands page on your website" Hope this helps

XML Sitemap Indexation Rate Decrease
Every time I have seen this happen it is due to duplicate content across various URL's or very thin content. Google doesn't tend to want to keep an index of the same page many times or many pages with little to nothing on them. If you didn't have duplicate or thin content problems and have cleaned up your error producing URL's then I'm not sure what to tell you. Someone will probably have to get into your GWT account to diagnose from there.

Is 301 redirecting your index page to the root '/' safe to do or do you end up in an endless loop?
Correct, 301 redirects of duplicate homepages in order to consolidate them into one should not be an issue.

What's the best way to redirect categories & paginated pages on a blog?
If you have access to the .htaccess file on your server you can use this website http://www.htaccessredirect.net/ to generate content for it. The redirect directory should do it. If not the you can use php to create a 301 redirect like so header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently"); header("Location: http://www.New-Website.com/test.php");?> and the final option would be to email your hosting company and ask them to do it.

E-commerce worldwide sub domains or folders
Definetely go for subfolders, you can then target all you linkbuilding activities to different parts of the domains, and this will eventually help the complete domain. We work already with subfolders for the last 15 years and also with the hreflang, works fine.

De-indexing product "quick view" pages
Just to add, if you block URLs in robots.txt they wont actually get deindexed. They will be for all intents and purposes be blocked (wont cause duplicate content issues etc) but they will drop into the omitted results: _In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 13 already displayed._If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included. And will look like this in the SERPS (see attachment). If you want them removed from the SERPs you will need to use the robots NOINDEX meta tag, or use GWMT as William advised. The disallow entry you posted will block these pages, as long as they all start with that way. Although you don't actually need the trailing wild card as that gets ignored, you can just leave it open. Google robots.txt specs QqCCH1J.png

Does Google index url with hashtags?
Hi All, It looks like Google has setup a nice dev site and FAQ page to go over the options here especially when using AJAX and hash tags to link to that content.https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/docs/faq#whereinresults. It looks as if Google will be able to index the content of the entire page (hidden and initially shown) and not create a separate URL if you use a ! before the #. I'd read up on that FAQ page, and play with site commands on the Google dev site.

Rich snippet star ratings appearing and disappearing
Hi Irving, I did resolve the issue by updating our schema tags, right after I posted it here in SEOmoz. But just this week they disappeared again. We haven't made any changes either, so now I'm back to fishing in the dark and getting more gray hair than i deserve. We should start a support group, don't you think?

Why does this site rank above us?
Looking at the links, there's definitely some unnatural linkbuilding going on with both sites. Google is likely discounting many of the links that Moz has found. Theirs appears a little more unnatural, but without a link-by-link review, it's hard for me to say which of your link profiles is being discounted more. I'd encourage you to seek out a more strategic method of getting coverage where your potential customers are online. Google incorporates a lot of data into their decisions, so it might not be all about links. We should not assume that PA/DA has all of the answers. Link metrics is one of the larger factors, but it's certainly not the only one. Google does seem to incorporate user metrics to a greater degree lately. The most well-known result is a Penguin penalty, but the less-discussed action is that Google will actually reward sites that seem to satisfy the user query well. In any case, you can't go wrong by giving the user what they want. I think this is one area where you can improve. Make the purpose and customer action on the page clear. For example, compare http://www.discountbannerprinting.co.uk/banners/vinyl-pvc-banners.html to http://www.signfirm.com/banners/printed-pvc-banners.html, and ask yourself, "what is the function of this page?" My answer on the first one would be, "to learn about what a vinyl PVC banner is." The SignFirm page's function seems to be "to buy a PVC banner." I understand that the CTA is to get a quote, but we should also understand that most of the sidebar content will be ignored. Also consider a re-design to make the site simpler. Make the things your customer wants stand out. Right now everything stands out so much that nothing does. It's quite busy with tons of colors and a lot of text.
