  • Here's a middle ground. Allow the homepage of the redirected domain to be indexed. Put something useful there. Change the campaign URL to be a deep page such as SchwempleToSchpell.com/schpelling and redirect that. John

  • I have done that for a blog with Dynamic content before. You could just add a block of text in the widget area titled "About Us".

  • What exactly are you trying to do? Maintain high rankings for that page or somehow capture the high rankings for your new landing page? If you change the contents of that page into a landing page, your rankings will fluctuate. If you don't redirect, you will lose all of the links pointing to the content you move. Why don't you just gate your content for members only and point your paid media to a new URL with the landing page?

  • It looks like your site might be using a combination of Flash and iFrames to deliver results. You do have a Page Authority of 33 on your home page, and a domain authority of 27, with 12 linking root domains.  Hope this helps...

  • I would still start with the sites that aren't ranking first. The more things you try to do at once, the less predictable the outcome is and the greater the risk of a negative impact. Start by moving over a few sites that aren't ranking that well. Gauge the impact. Do their rankings increase or drop? What about a month after you've made the move? Once you have a better idea of what the impact will be, you can move over a few more sites, and repeat the process. A piecemeal approach may take a little longer, but it reduces your risk and gives you a more predictable outcome. It also will allow you to perfect the process of moving sites before you get to the moneymakers that are already ranking well.

  • Hi Ron, A good tactic can be to find out where people are talking about or asking questions that your created content answers. A good way to do this is to use google to find forums and online communities that are discussing the very area that your content is related to. Drawing people to your content in these forums and communities can be a good way to raise brand awareness or have people reading and sharing your content (providing it is v. good quality or answers their questions). Another great way to promote it is through social media. Doing this well though through social media usually requires a strong following and regular quality content updates. If you do this well, this platform for content promotion is most effective. All the best, Gav.

  • Hello, I've done this. It had absolutely no impact on our listings. I did exactly what you are suggesting to do. I'm not saying it'll have no impact for YOU because I don't know that, but it didn't impact me so is likely not to impact you too. If that makes sense!!! All the best, Amelia

  • Yes, I think it does.  We were hoping that we could just modify all the TITLES to: "Dialysis Center & CKD Center Los Angeles" to include the new keyword CKD Center.  Or maybe just do: "CKD Dialysis Center Los Angeles" and hope that Google will rank us for both CKD Center Los Angeles and Dialysis Center Los Angeles.

  • In my own experience, good category names are very, very important. Have you prioritized your top 10 or 20 keyword search phrases? Those should be worked into your top level categories. I have recently seen reasonable benefits from redesigning categories and subcategories, and of course 301 redirecting popular old ones to the new ones diligently.

  • I read a post by bings Duane Forrester where he explained that they will lose trust in your site map if it has errors more then 2%. all entries should return status code 200, no 404's or redirects. He also said that you should not include all pages, just places where you want bing to start crawling from, or where you want to discover links.

  • We have had over 9k new backlinks shown daily on majestic as of late...I notice many site wides, and then some that are relevant. I can't see google expecting us to manually review them all!

  • I am actually seeing that after a delay the rankings have rebounded and now are higher than before.   The backlinks are now again showing up in GWT.  I still think that the warning from Google and temporary drop are connected, but I guess in the long term it really doesnt matter.
