301 redirects broken - problems - please help!
Thank you. The 301s have been put back. I did wonder if I needed to do anything at all! (I'm a great believer in leaving well alone - why poke a wasp's nest if you don't need to lol) Over the last month there has actually been a slight increase in organic traffic to the new website. My concern is that some pages seem to have been removed from the index. Also (which I didn't say above) that impressions have gone down - however this could be seasonal rather than anything sinister. Do you know of a tool that shows you which urls are in the index - aside from Google, I mean - something I can extract into a spreadsheet? Thank you for helping me again today

Any E Commerce SEO expets
I just took a look at the following URL: http://www.urbandazzle.com/abc-wine-glass-red.html which looks to appear fine in the SERP: site:http://www.urbandazzle.com/abc-wine-glass-red.html This URL however gives some errors using https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/. Have you checked that proper markup is used? Are there any other URLs not showing up?

How to Get Google to Recognize Your Pages Are Gone
Sure, I can see the issues there. Having a look at the sitemap and submitting that would be my best guess.

Canonicalisation query
I have canonicalised the filtered products, and have put a request in to make the H1s editable so will alter those as soon as I can. Thank you all for taking the time to answer this question, I appreciate it greatly. Best wishes, Amelia

Do low quality subdomains affect the ranking performance/quality of a root domain?
Hi Amy Subdomains CAN impact root domain performance, it's just a matter of how they interact. But it's odd that your sub domains are performing fine, but your root domain is seeing the impact. That just sounds odd to me. I will have to do a little more research on your particular site to see if I find anything else. Thanks for your patience in my response on this one!

Redirect ot new domain
Hi Tom, thank you very much for your answer and time! I explained to Patrick above which are the reasons for doing in this way. I will have to find another way because this will obviously not work.

Best strategy to follow for a single service site
Great addition of Jonathan! I also think a well implemented example will not get affected by this update but identical pages won't do you much good in the future. So if you start with this strategy, make sure you do it good!

E-commerce System without error page
Hi SEO Martin, I'm trying to figure out your exact question. Are you wondering whether you should noindex the "empty" pages? Are you trying to figure out how to identify all the pages that are producing errors? Or something else?

Persistent listings or 301 redirects better for SEO?
Hi sichristie, I find your question confusing, probably because it's a complex scenario you're trying to describe. If I understand it correctly, I agree scenario 1 would be better for SEO because it's all about reputation. If you're looking for an explanation that might resonate with lay people, I'd try an analogy that builds upon the rationale you've described above. Here's an example of what I mean. Say to your audience, "Assume you are lost and thirsty in a desert when you come upon a set of three paths pointing in different directions. All three have a sign posted with an arrow saying "this way to fresh water". One of the paths looks like it's been there a long time. It's deep and well worn. Up ahead you can see others have taken this path because there are small items like candy wrappers and cigarette butts shed along-side the path. The other two paths are faint and debris free. You're barely able to make them out in the sand. It looks like their signs have been planted there recently, maybe even moved a few times." Which path would you take?

Moving to a new domain name - 301 redirect NOT an option
Using the Change of Address feature in Google Webmaster Tools and having your host point the DNS at the new site will help Google understand that the site has moved. However, you will probably see URLs from the old site outranking URLs from the new site for a while. If you can't create entirely new content for the new site, it would still be worth refreshing and rewriting the content for at least your highest-traffic pages, so they aren't exact duplicates. Reclaiming as many links as possible by reaching out to get them pointed to the new site, rather than the old site, is definitely worth doing. You should also start thinking strategically about how you're going to market the new site to earn more links links once it launches, to make up for the links you can't get re-pointed to the site. It will probably take a few months for the new site to start performing well and outranking the old site, but it's definitely possible.

And we're tempted by SpyFu premium, but rely on the free version right

Question about Before-After results pages optimization
As Ryan and Monica say.... "combine these results into a single long page". That long page will be much more substantive content for the search engines - so it will probably rank a lot better than any of the single skimpy pages. Also that page makes it much easier for visitors to compare. And, it reduces duplicate content issues.

Organic search traffic improved (besides Google) for last 6 months
Hi, thanks for your reply. Just a quick question: do we really need to implement hreflang tags since our site contains already es-Es as a language in the header?? http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="es-ES"> And how could we direct to an alternate version since we only have 1 version which is spanish anyhow? Thanks for your comments! Can PDF be seen as duplicate content? If so, how to prevent it?
It looks like Google is not crawling tabs anymore, therefore if your pdf's are tabbed within pages, it might not be an issue: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-hidden-tab-content-seo-19489.html

How to do Spam Link Analysis before posting a link?
Good advice Tom! I agree that no single metric (or even a combination) can replace the value you'll get from doing a manual analysis and using your brain to consider whether a site is a good, safe target or not.
