  • Hey Atul, I would recommend starting from the end and working backwards, i.e. what it is that you are trying to accomplish, e.g. your goal(s), and then work backwards from that to create your strategy and then get to the beginning of it all, e.g. your tactics. Don't forget  that the "me" is very directional, and pertains to the web property that it is found on vs. any specific content on the page or other site that page or web property is linking to. If I am understanding your question correctly, I don't think the example you gave above would achieve what it is that you are trying to accomplish, as well as other possible optimization tactics out there that you could employ. Hope this helps! Sorry if it wasn't the answer you were looking for. Christian

  • They were running several ad networks feeding ads everywhere - the system was choking on it.  Then there's the fact that it's a Drupal site, set up with default native taxonomy, causing serious data extraction bottle-necks. Both issues had to be addressed.  It's still slow, but much better.

  • Turns out I didn't need the sitemap. I just needed more time. Google crawled and indexed everything as I expected, but it took longer than I expected.

  • I'm at the same point with an ecommerce. I targeted a select amount of keywords too hard at the start. Now I'm looking at the past years ecommerce conversion keywords and fine tuning all my product pages to better rank them.

  • You don't need to drill down to that level really. You can use filtering within the results to show coats by colour etc. There are many examples in ecommerce of different URL structure and layout/navigation. It is difficult to categorically state (no pun intended!) which one is the BEST per se, however, if you work this problem backwards - i.e by generating a list of the keywords you want to target for all of your products, and look at the typical searches for these you will end up with some strong indication of where it is best to place emphasis and this may influence your url structure and navigation elements. As long as useablity isn't overlooked and you create content that naturally allows you to focus on your desired target keywords without trying to create artificial, keyword stuffed content then you should be well on your way.

  • thanks for all the input, but do the search engines really find author pages, tags and admin pages? those are the ones that are showing errors...

  • For character sake I would opt to not use the www and have it redirected. But once you have decided make sure you are consistent. You can advertise with either, it's more the actual linking that makes the difference.

  • After you make your changes, go into Google WM and re-submit your XML sitemap showing the new URLs. Make sure all old links (non-WWW) do point to the new pages as I think you have done. There will be a week or two of fluctuation. If your site if very popular, then the changes will happen quicker, if not, then slower.

  • It could be that you're a little over-optimized. On this page for example: http://www.recoveryconnection.org/addiction/alcoholism.php Near the bottom, you have three anchor text links all near each other, all pointing to the same page of http://www.recoveryconnection.org/detox/alcohol-treatment-detox-programs.php

  • It's going to be very difficult for sites to abuse the schema.org structure, though I don't doubt some will try. And if a site does go that route, it's essentially a deceptive business practice, which may cause them other problems.
