Rankings Last, google says no flags
I agree link count is not the end all, but when Gianluca said I had only a few links the focus was on that, where I don’t think that is the case and wanted the focus back off that. To say that he had a point would also go against the statement the number of links not being important rather the quality. OSE explorer I found never has many links for new campaigns, and only having 5 campaign slots, I did not have it loaded until a few days ago. I believe it finds the pages relevant to the campaigns, that my understanding based of observation only, I expect to see more next crawl . But I don’t think links is the problem. As I stated I was number one for my company name, now I came no where, with the same or less links. As for Bing and Google not having a correlation I disagree, they do correlate very well, it’s not a rule, but if you rank well in one you will rank well in the other. I have always seemed to rank better with sites in Bing than Google, but generally if I make progress in one I make progress in the other. To say the comparison is completely worthless does not hold water Look at all the factors I have mentioned and I think, there is something wrong, take my point about my company name, I Used to rank number one, now I don’t rank at all. I made a site thatsitsolutions.net.au, with no links only a few days old, ranks number 4. Imagine you search for a query, how to make pumpkin pie, you would expect some page with that exact phrase to be more important than a page that just happens to have those words in the content. This is what how search engines work, they work on meaning and relevance, not just matching words. If I was looking for a local Perth web developer I would expect the exact phrase to rank higher then a page with the words spread throughout the page. As for the being my site, I have many sites and built and promoted many more, I am not sentimental about my site, I am concerned that it has dropped out of the rankings to last place. I have mentioned that I don’t even rank for my company name where I had been number one for years, that is not normal. That and all the other points I think I have a very good case for being concerned. I hope that it’s just a temp problem, that’s all I can say. As for actions I can take, I think the best action I can take is try to work out why my rankings have dropped, I really don’t think that doing a bit of link building is the answer. If you have any specific action items that can explain the drop then I’m all ears, but I am not asking for SEO help, I have done very well in SEO besides this problem.

Removing inbound Spam Links
Hi Mike, Just wondering how this turned out, and if you're still looking for advice. Your question came through when we had a hiccup with the Q&A section and didn't get the visibility that it normally would, which is why you didn't have much in the way of answers.

Why just 1 Page has been crawled till date?
Hi Francis, I hope you've had more than one page crawled by now. If not, check out the help desk article about what to do if only one page is being crawled. http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-why-isn-t-my-site-being-crawled-you-only-crawled-one-page. If that doesn't fix things, it's time to email the help desk at help@seomoz.org.

Google support eTag?
I'm seeing another place where Google doesn't reference the Gdata in code.google.com. Check out http://code.google.com/apis/storage/docs/reference-headers.html#etag. In API changelog documentation for their calendar http://code.google.com/apis/calendar/changelog.html they say "If a client wishes to retain version 2.0 error behavior, then it can either send a request with the Gdata-Version: 2.0 HTTP header or append ?v=2.0 to request URIs. In this case, no error will be provided if an outdated updated-min parameter is provided or if a gCal:eid conflict occurs when inserting a recurrence exception. However, the server response docuement will still conform to version 2.1 and contain a Gdata-Version: 2.1 header." It seems like you're fine, as most of the references I'm seeing Google made don't include that GData info.

Websites on same c class IP address
But if you have 20 sites linking to you, and they're all from the same Class C IP address, and those are pretty much your ONLY links, that looks a bit fishy to the search engines. It's a signal to the search engines that "hey, this person can only get links from sites that have a high probability of the same person being in control of all of the sites". That's why you'll see people talk about linkbuilding and wanting to do so from different Class C IP addresses.

Would this be possible for my research
What about using the allintext: query, so that your keywords appear in the text of the page? More information at http://www.googleguide.com/advanced_operators.html#allintext

Problem with indexing
I just want to clarify what I was saying above. In my case, even though I put brand spanking new posts on my blog they weren't getting indexed. I had about 6 duplicate posts and 4 new ones and none of them were getting indexed. But, when I dealt with the duplicate content issues for those 6 (i.e got rid of the original copies and redirected the old site to the new) then all of my content suddenly got indexed. Just sayin'

Google penalty
I have been directly involved in assisting sites recover from manual and algorithmic penalties. I believe most providers of SEO services have this experience as well. Penalties are a common driver or business for our industry. I did not intend to upset you in any way. My only thoughts regarding your reply were: if you have knowledge about an SEO topic, please share it. If you feel you have discovered a solution, it would be helpful to let others know about it in the Q&A section. You can even write a YouMoz article if you desire which can yield positive credit and attention. generally speaking, taking months to recover from a penalty would be crippling to most businesses. I always strive to work with clients to balance their traffic, but when I first receive clients they often show 85%+ of their traffic comes from Google. If they were to lose that traffic for 60+ days many would go out of business. I am glad to hear you were able to resolve the issues on your site. Best Regards, -Ryan
