  • What is Sandbox? In order to avoid something like Sandbox, one should know very well what Sandbox is. But, nobody knows if Sandbox does exist, so let's just focus on the main problem here: How do I get my pages indexed? I have tried over years a lot of techniques, but I found only one that seems to work. If your site is not dynamic, make it so. Create the sitemap and the feed (I recommend RSS 2.0). Put your sitemap in your robots.txt. (last line, like this: Sitemap: http://www.yourdomainname.com/sitemap.xml). Submit sitemap to Sitemaps section in your Webmaster Tools' account. Submit your RSS feed to main RSS directories (just google the words, and you'll find plenty of them). Start with FeedBurner, to please Google. Wait a week or so and you'll see that your pages will start appearing in index. Good luck!

  • As it turns out the problem is with Yoast's Google Analytics plug-in per Yoast.  However, he has not yet released a fix nor given a date for the fix as of yet.  So one either needs to deal with it until fixed or switch plug-ins.

  • Try to avoid generating (or worse, buying) +1 votes from untrustworthy sources. My advice to you is this: build a great Google+ page for your website (fill all the details, and even add content, as valuable as you can). Then, check the top 50 pages on Google+. Add them to your circles. And wait. People will start appearing from the network and will start adding you on their circles. When you get the first 100, use the share options of the circle and write something like this: "If you like our content/info, please give us your vote by clicking on the +1 button on our front page" and place a link to your entrance page. Now you'll get natural and good votes. And, yes, in my opinion, because of the trends on the market, with social media becoming a key factor, I even suspect that soon the +1 will indeed replace the PR (Page Rank).

  • Already resubmitted the front page to Google using Fetch as GoogleBot and Submit to index from Webmaster Tools. Also pinged the page to all main Google local SE. On the other hand, sitemap (or site in general) cannot be in sandbox, as it appears in more than 5000 daily searches :). And I have more than 1000 pages in index. And they all appear when I search for the main keyword of each and every page :).  The only issue is the main page. Now, before it disappeared, I have noticed another strange behaviour. My front page displays, randomly, one article from a specific table in my database. Every time I was adding a new article, again the front page was gone from searches for a day or 2. Then everything was back to normal. Still, my question is this: If something is wrong, why Bing and Yahoo are displaying my front page for the main keyword? And Google not? Somehow, the algorithms are not that different.

  • Hi Gary, Great answer from Daniel. One thing that you can do is to create a list of noindexed pages in excel, then add all pages identified by SEOmoz as duplicates and run a simple comparison in excel. This will identify any pages that do not match. You will easily see whether the new pages in the report can be ignored. There is already a feature request in the works with the SEOmoz engineering team which will enable us to "turn off" pages that can be ignored (like those that are already noindexed). In the meantime, keeping track of the pages you can ignore is probably the best option. You can keep track of progress by following updates on the Feature Request here. Hope that helps, Sha

  • If you can no-index , follow all but the default, then you will send link juice to the pages but it will return the link juice because it is follow, but they will not index because they are no-index. If you use robots, then it can not read the page to follow the links.

  • Marty, When you look at the crawl errors in the campaign report (red box), where you see the forty in the red box, click or double click and give it a second. It will list out the urls. I will edit with a screen shot. Edit: Add Images - These are warnings not errors, but works the same. [" target="_blank">iframe>](<iframe class=)

  • I am not sure, as many sites do the redirect then the 404, I asume that search engines handle it ok, but I think it better to be safe. I like things to be done properly at my end i dont like to rely on others to fix the problem. by the way I use             Server.TransferRequest("/seo-perth/error404") reather than just Server.Transfer it is a bit more correct

  • Hi Sandeep. While I see it commonly used, "Allow" is not a valid syntax for robots.txt file. You can confirm it with this validation tool: http://tool.motoricerca.info/robots-checker.phtml Since the code is not valid, I am not sure how Google will handle it. My best guess is you should be fine, but you can also use Google's robots.txt tool: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=156449&from=35237&rd=1 Any changes to your robots.txt file should be picked up immediately on the next crawl. Can you please share the specific dates involved when the pages were restricted by robots.txt? There is a good chance your site is fine now and you are looking at old records.

  • You do have a lot of pages, I will point out that you have some duplicate title tags, and pages without meta descriptions. Golf, Overseas, T-Shirts.. I would recommend running a Crawl Test as it will point out major issues like this. Site seems to provide a good user experience, very pleasant looking & easy to use, from there I guess you need to make sure you have done the SEO Basics. Hope that helps,

  • "lots of affiliate links" This is what I meant.... http://noahsdad.com/gift-ideas-down-syndrome/ Nothing bad there....I had just read it's better to 'mask" those links (maybe with a url shortener) so google does penalize you for having them....

  • Hi Natanael, I think it's important for you to tell the right things to the right people in this case. When you talk to the journalists, you should explain them things on keyword research (without turning them into keyword stuffing monkees) and on-page optimization like using h1, bold, alt-tags. You should also show them how to write titles and meta descriptions that are compelling so CTR in serps will be high even if you're not #1 Another important thing for the journalists is link building, they are the perfect ambassadors for a news portal, they can use their network in order to obtain quality links. When talking to the webdesigner you should tell the front end developpers that Google is changing the looks of their serps  and that they should follow these changes in order to get the maximum visibility in SERPs using snippets like rating and so on. For backend developpers it's important that they make sure the content management system is capable of manipulating al critical elements. Manipulating seems a little bit creepy but what I mean is that you should have total control over for example: title, meta & url index, noindex include/not include in sitemap canonical meta & title templates Then make sure that they are aware every part is important in SEO. You can't drive your SEO solely on on page OR links OR tech, it's the sum of the parts
