thanks Cyrus. I want to keep the current domain and move it from the old host to the new host. Old site stays with the old host - they own it. New site is already with the new host and nearly done residing on a test url that I need to change to the existing domain Brett

hi, cannot remember exactly what date but about a year ago. before that we were number one but our hosting company messed up when they upgraded the site and we lost over 10,000 pages. since last week we were number five in google and now we are number seven. if we redirect all the old pages will that not slow down our site and also will google not like it when we redirect them to the home page when the articles are not there, also how many redirects can you have in your htaccess file

The site was slow for me- Social signals like twitter , facebook, pintrest etc should be encouraged on every post

The results you see might no be realtime data . Got a link to it ? If you made the change recently you might need to wait till Roger ( MozBot ) catches up to it.

The 50k in links is coming from one link source where our client bought a spot on buyersguide.aluminum.org. I checked the pages of some of the reported links and dont see our client's link on the page. This is an example link:http://buyersguide.aluminum.org/company.php?id=1120185&company=United Aluminum Corp. When I check OSE, they link isnt listed there either.

Hi Brian What Brent says in key, although some web developers tell you can't be done - don't get put off by them. Also - (but not instead of) in Google Webmaster tools you can select which URL is always displayed. Hope this helps PH

To clarify: option #2 would result in the entire site being redirected (just a little more sophisticated that funneling all KW relevance and domain authority into our home page via blanket redirect).  Anything that didn't have strong SEO value would just get redirected into the home page. Thanks for the feedback!
