Dive into vertical-specific SEO tactics.

  • Don't put product videos on YouTube, Vimeo or anywhere public outside of your domain. Commercial content like that inevitably does poorly on YouTube and the negative user engagement metrics will then just suggest to Google that the content isn't high quality and it wont rank anywhere. Moreover, product videos are only really valuable if they're viewed in the context of the product - where users have a clear funnel for conversion. I would securely host them with a third party platform and then aim to get rankings and rich snippets. While you can mark YouTube videos as "unlisted" in order to stop them being public, the content then won't rank.

  • You can use a mix: publish in video websites (youtube, vimeo, etc) a short/trailer of original video with a permanent footer with a link to client landing With this client video and brand will get visibility and some visits that if not are in video sites client don't get

  • Yes, I highly recommend moving the transcripts to the actual page that the video's on. This will not only help with accessibility, but also improve your on-page SEO.

  • Thanks for the comments and insight....good for for for thought. I do not need to just duplicate what is out there and expect to succeed.

  • Use Google Mapmaker to see what Google already has indexed as far as business name, etc. But you should only have one listing.  If you have multiple addresses, then you can have more then one listing but you must have a unique phone number for each listing.

  • Excellent suggestion from all 3 members here. I've give you each a thumbs up, guys. Jonathon - you've been given some really good advice to start with. I'll only add that in researching citations, I believe you are going to find Whitespark's citation finder to be a big help, if you're not already using it. Here's the link: http://www.whitespark.ca/local-citation-finder/ Hope that will help, too.

  • I have an account on Yelp with 19 real reviews.  The only one that displays is a one star bad review.  All the rest of the 18 are five stars and they hide them as "filtered".  This is a sham company.  There has to be a solution to this.........

  • Hi Donald, As others have mentioned, it's normally very difficult to get a rich snippet result off the back of an embedded YouTube video, which means your best bet will probably be to take the vids down from YouTube and host them yourself or with a third party provider. I created a guide last week which gives you step by step instructions for getting your own domain ranking for a video - if you follow those pointers then you should have no problem getting the rich snippets in the SERPs. Any questions/confusions, please do let me know. Cheers, Phil

  • Hi Vijay, make sure you're using the old (flash based) vimeo embed code for the video and then use the sitemap below as a template for structuring yours.  You need to fill in the gaps for  anything written in bold italics. <urlset xmlns="<a href=" http:="" www.sitemaps.org="" schemas="" sitemap="" 0.9"="">http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9” xmlns:video="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-video/1.1"></urlset> <loc>_**http://www.yourdomain.com/page-containing-video[](http://www.yourdomain.com/page-containing-video)**_</loc> video:thumbnail_loc_**http://www.yourdomain.com/thumbnail-image**_</video:thumbnail_loc> video:titleVideo Title</video:title> video:descriptionVideo Meta Description</video:description> <video:player_loc allow_embed="yes" autoplay="ap=1">http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=_VIDEOIDNUMBER_video:player_loc></video:player_loc> video:duration</video:duration>Length of video in seconds  (number only) e.g. 267 video:publication_date2012-02-29T18:30:15+00:00</video:publication_date> video:family_friendlyyes</video:family_friendly> video:tagT_arget Keyword 1_</video:tag> <video:uploader info="<em>https://plus.google.com/userid[](https://plus.google.com/userid)">Name<strong><span class=" s2"=""></video:uploader> video:liveno</video:live>

  • Learned a ton about video sitemaps.  Still ignorant about practices when using transcription with video.  Was it in there and I just missed it?  Thanks for helping with sitemaps.
