Online press coverage: publications asking for fee to add backlink. Should I pay?
Yep. Sounds about right to me. I'd also check the relationship of their content to your client's industry. The more relevant the better. If you're paying for it, I'd also request they use specific SEO-friendly anchor text. _Ex: rather than hyperlinking the root domain (prisonconsultants.co.uk) would be better to hyperlink 'UK prison consultants' or something similar. _

Does "external noopener" still pass on link equity
Also see: https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnrampton/2017/11/06/the-difference-between-nofollow-and-noreferrer-and-why-it-matters/#32e295f11e06 There are tracking implications, meaning traffic will come through as 'direct' source in GA instead of from the referring domain, but does not seem to impact SEO.

Inherited site with high Spam Score backlinks
Hi, IMO you should disavow them just to be safe. Thanks

Nofollow links with high spam score
No-followed links don't usually pass SEO authority across, negative or positive. Unless you begin to notice a specific and isolated impact on related rankings, I honestly wouldn't worry too much. No-followed links usually don't affect SEO (period) You could always just disavow the domain(s) if you really wanted to, then even if they removed the no-follow tags you'd still be unaffected. In my opinion I wouldn't do anything if the links are all 100% no-followed anyway

Link building strategies
Hi Nancy, Have you read The Beginner's Guide to Linkbuilding by Paddy Moogan? If not, I would recommend starting there and then perusing the free resources available in our SEO Learning Center. Let us know if that helps or not! Kind wishes, Christy

A number of times you should use your keyword in a guest blog
Whatever works for you, at times some calculation of keyword density may be required to avoid overuse.

Can you rank for keywords not listed on-page for SEO?
Hello, Yes you can for a number of reasons, the content of your copy & your backlink profile being the 2 main ones.

Blog post back link
This. Fiverr is spam-ville. All the job requests are active requests for spam, and most of the people who take the jobs are con-artists of one form or another. Darin is right OP, re-think your approach

Backlinks from missing sites
The only real problem is disavowing a site that might be helping you, but in this case that doesn't seem likely. It's more about a waste of your time and efforts.

My DA went down by 10 points! Is it because I just started adding NO FOLLOW links?

Backlinks and SPAM
I wouldn't do that if I were you it really seems like a "gray" to even a "black" hat tactic. It might work for now but in the future, it might create problems that you surely don't want. Mass link building to a certain domain or a chain of domains is not recommended at all.

Automatic links from other domains when we create a new landing page - Is this a spammy technique?
Thanks very much Nick. I will have a read of the article you sent and we're probably going to remove all the redirects and disable the domains that we're not using but are causing this to happen. I think this setup was created years and years ago. Our rankings are generally good (page 1), but we ideally want to clean up our link profile.

I just got hammered by a Google penalty - My guess is it was was keyword stuffing anchor text...help!
Hey Sebastian, Checking in here - does a penalty still seem to be applied? What have you done so far? Happy to help, once I've got an idea of where you're currently at. Best, Kristina

When working on navigation, is it best for product collections to appear under multiple menu headings or just the one that defines it the most?
Place them in menu headings that are relevant and useful for the visitors. You don't want to have customers thinking... Why did they put this crap in here. As soon as they start seeing "contamination" in your menu their shopping in that category will end. What do you think of the Amazon SERPs where they are showing crap in their SERPs that does not match or even relate to the querry? It has a really bad odor to me.
