  • These are two companies with two different crawlers. I did a test a while back and saw a major difference in what each backlink tracking tool reported. None are perfect and they will definitely not match each other. Sorry.

  • Hey there, I think some of the responses in this thread will give you what you need but just wanted to chip in. Guest posting is a bit of a contentious topic at the moment, recently Google Reps like John Mueller have said that sites should nofollow ANY guest links (so that includes very reputable sites and relevant posts). As Marjin says below - I think you're on the money when you talk about relevance. If we ignore Google for a moment - is it likely that users on those sites would click through to yours and convert? If no then it's quite likely this person is offering guest posting to a host of different sites and Google probably has a pretty good idea that the site is spammy. So you're less likely to get a ranking benefit from this and you're not getting direct benefit from the links. If, on the other hand, there is a way for your site to be relevant to the sites then at the very least you could get users clicking through and converting, which is direct value anyway. If this site is vetting opportunities to make sure they are relevant to the audience it's more likely that they drive value for that audience and don't just write about anything, which means there's more chance of Google seeing the site and links as valuable. By the sounds of things, this opportunity is in the first category so I'd be inclined to turn it down. Hope that helps!

  • Calvin, Let me go back to a previous answer: Better to stop now with that and take a month to study up on link building before you do more damage.  There's plenty of good info right here on Moz for a start.

  • I agree with Gaston, that setting your goal on a DA target is not the best approach. I set my goals by deciding what content should be on my website to make it an outstanding resource to my potential clients  (for a site that sells products or services) or my potential audience (for an informational site).   What content would you need for your site to serve the needs of the visitors you desire to attract? You can make a very ambitious content list that might take years to produce, or you can take it in stages - by topic.   All of my sites were started over ten years ago.  One achieved its content goal in two years.  The others have a content goal for which the goal posts have been moved outwards every few years.  I don't think about DA.  I think about the next article to write.

  • Pascal, Going by the numbers of links you're talking about (tens of thousands being only 5-10% of total links) in relation to them  being lost in the core update, makes me wonder about their quality. It makes me wonder if your rankings might have dropped, as well--I mean really, except for the people who closely watch the traffic brought in by hard-earned back links, most people would rather not have to worry about the dang things at all. Am I right? Anyway, the seemingly most obvious explanation is that the pages and/or domains those tens of thousands of links reside on were devalued due to google's algorithm update and Moz's crawler/algorithm didn't incorporate them into subsequent updates as a result. Are you seeing the same sort of thing on other platforms? It may turn out that the owners of the sites hosting those tens of thousands of links may be able to turn things around on their site(s) and all those thousands of links return to the realm of visibility.  But really, I don't know if I'd be clamoring to get them back, if I were you. If your rankings haven't dropped, consider yourself lucky and take it as a lesson to develop better back links. If rankings have dropped, well, take that as a lesson to get better back links  too. : )  In either case, if I were you, I'd take a very, very close look at them with an eye toward disavowing them--and maybe any more thousands you have that you might think could be in jeopardy in a  future core-style update.

  • Not using indexer tools, but what Google expects is a backlink that is truly natural. In my opinion, building my own backlinks by linking sites to other sites through comments, profiles, etc. is not optimal. Unless, you are using a strategy to build PBN (Private Blog Networks) backlinks. If you do it right like Renovasi Otak, in Google's eyes it will look good and very high quality. Because PBN uses natural blog development strategies and has almost no loopholes. Like the difference in IP address, devices, and so on. Remember, that is just my opinion.

  • OMG! NO!, Syndey. There are so many reasons why not to do that and like, zero, why you should.  It's a trap many marketers fall into--"Well my competitor did it and look at their rankings." And then you become the next casualty in the SEO wars. At least you asked first.  Many throw the spaghetti at the wall first and then ask questions about their penalties later. I try to push people to read the Beginners Guide to SEO (and everything else you find) here because it is solid, whitehat information and that can be hard to find out there on the web. (And while I'm thinking about it, do pay close attention to the dates of anything SEO-realted that you read--if there is no date or it's more than a year old, don't waste your time)  Fundamentally, it goes like this be patient and learn everything you can for a couple of months before you even think about making changes to your site. The reason is, if you do something wrong, the recovery process could put you/your site into a tailspin that you might not recover from. Now, back to your competitors' links. Firstly, do you really know that those links are helping them rank, or do you just see them there and assume so?  Remember, correlation is not the same as causation,  as they like to say here. Secondly, it's not always or necessarily the links themselves that are of value but the pattern of link acquisition that Google pays attention to. If there was a way to view things as Google does, even someone relatively new to online marketing could probably tell the difference between a whole bunch of low-quality links from obtained in a relatively short amount of time (yes you would burn out of your tactic within a few months) and a strong link profile of slow, steady link acquisition from reputable, complimentary sites.  If you were Google, which backlink profile do you think you would reward?  Thirdly, do you know how many good links it takes to outweigh a bunch of bad ones? It only takes ONE.  Focus on getting that one and you and your site will be way ahead of the game--and your competitors.

  • To continue to rank better for the term "fitness equipment names", you need to optimize the page a little bit better for that phrase and continue to build links to that page. Here are a few things I'd recommend: Change your title tag to "18 Gym/Fitness Equipment Names, Pictures, and Prices for Full-body Strength". Add "fitness equipment names" to the content once or twice. I'd probably just change "gym equipment names" to "fitness equipment names" two times because you have the former phrase in the content 6 times. Add "fitness equipment" to the end of the alt text of some of the images. For example [image: ...] Add a few more internal links from other blog posts to this page Go look at all the backlinks to all 10 pages that rank on page 1 for that phrase and try to acquire some of the same links from the same root domains

  • Hi there, Yes, after a 301 redirect, any backlinks present in the previous URL will be "transfered" to the last destination in the redirection. Keep in mind that, there are some studies that say it might lose some authority but Google said it doesnt. More info in this moz article about 301 redirects rule changing Either way, I'd try avoid making too many redirections, because of the potential lose in links authority and because of Googlebot no wanting to follow too many redirects. Hope it helps, Best luck. Gaston

  • I have read all over the place how ignoring these domains Is the best policy, but disavowing the globe does improve search presence, so always disavow them. I have built a utility to target the globe and others. https://dynamic.domains/disavow-utility.zip The utility is hardly refined, and a work in progress but entirely functional and will make short work of the Globe. It can scan all domains in your linking domains file and search for specific text. If you are like me and sorting through thousands of links this can be  life saver, as it will open each domain and scan for whatever keywords you like You can search multiple keywords, just separate by comma. The below search text will weed out the Globe and a ton more. keyword research,See related links to what you are looking for,popstripeRs,Search_Engine_Optimization_Services,Keyword Suggestions,This domain may be for sale,data-adblockkey,List website, complete online resource for web host providers,URLs categories for query and submission,Estadísticas web y datos de valoración simplificados,Ashibka.ru,Check Website IP on Server,Recently Analyzed Sites, research and analysis,Tools check keyword with Search Engines,1000 domain,the_worlds_most_visited If you want to just single out the globe use the_worlds_most_visited, and it will get them all, and build a nice list for you.

  • I recently had the experience of manually looking at over 3,000 domains. I am a programmer and so I made utility that will scan each domain in a MOZ Linking Domains csv file and search for specified text. It can pick out every Globe.com domain and other spam sites from a list in a number of minutes. I would love the feedback, and so I would share this utility. I found that in my case using the keywords below got 95% or better of my bad links. It can also use the Spam and DA values etc.. keyword research,See related links to what you are looking for,popstripeRs,Search_Engine_Optimization_Services,Keyword Suggestions,This domain may be for sale,data-adblockkey,List website, complete online resource for web host providers,URLs categories for query and submission,Estadísticas web y datos de valoración simplificados,Ashibka.ru,Check Website IP on Server,Recently Analyzed Sites, research and analysis,Tools check keyword with Search Engines,1000 domain,the_worlds_most_visited If you would like to give it a try please see https://dynamic.domains/disavow-utility.zip This is not a commercial application, and although I am working on it to release the same, it just does the one thing right now. It does do it quite well though. It is an .exe in a zip file. I know there are trust issues, but at the same time you cant get a MOZ pro account without CC, and dynamic.domains is mine. I am the author of MintDNS. This app is 100% clean and in no way malicious etc.. Right now it only works with MOZ Linking Domains CSV files. If you have a sample Aherfs file I would love to add support. If you try it out and find it handy please give me your feedback and suggestions etc..

  • You are correct, it is a waste of time to republish duplicate content across the web. Write great unique content for your own blog and promote it wherever you can and then write unique content to submit to other websites for link building.

  • It's not really worth your time when compared to other link building methods and writing content for your site that will attract links. I'm just saying that the more linking root domains you have, the better and so it can't hurt to get one link from wordpress and blogger. But yeah, on a spectrum of most valuable links to least valuable, they would be on the least valuable side of things.
