Category: Link Building

Chat through link building best practices and outreach techniques.

  • I agree with Paddy here. I'm not suggesting you use typewriter links to link to thermal label content - let me make that clear. You should still go after links specifically to the main thermal labelling business pages.

  • Andrew, If you are asking your question in terms of SEO (vs usability) keep in mind that when there are several links on a page to the same external resource, only the first one of those links carries any SEO weight. Also, if a page contains important info for the visitor, it should be linked to from numerous pages on your site.

  • Hi Nigel, obviously the content shouldn't be the same. There are many things to say about each topic, or many ways to say similar things without saying the same...

  • Use below code (Ignore previous one that will work for http only) <code># Redirect to www RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^[^.]+\.[^.]+$ RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)| RewriteRule ^ http%1://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]</code> *It will support https and http both Thanks

  • Just at the right of the url you can see the cache version from Google of this page. By clicking to the "arrow" than points down. You can see that the Snapshot is from 28-05-2018: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:Pu-yOVqMlVAJ:www.paydaysunny.com/payday-loans.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=en Surely the spider-bot will crawl the page soon again and it will show the new title, be patient and don't force this Googlebot takes more or less time to reindex if your site is more or less active. The other questions: The fastest and better way to index a website in Google is to create links in a very active website of your topic. Almost every PBN was very useful 2-3 years ago, today you have to create a very natural and quality PBN to cheat Google with links like this. It takes a lot of work / money, so I don't recommend you this tecnique.

  • Hi there, As others have said, buying links is against Google Webmaster Guidelines and if they find you doing it, it can lead to a penalty and depending on how bad the problem is, the penalty can range from losing a bit of traffic to you not appearing for your own brand name. I won't lie - buying links can still work and I see websites doing it all the time. But you need to be aware of the risks if you're going down that route and if you're working with a business that relies on traffic from Google in order to survive, the consequences can be severe. Hope that helps! Paddy

  • Have a look at how Moz now calculates the spam score, it is done based on correlation with characteristics of other band websites. That is to say just because it's a high spam score doesn't mean to say it's going to do you damage. However I always steer completely clear of any indication of spam. I would consider 20% plenty high enough, at 40% I would completely avoid it and put my effort elsewhere.

  • Hi Marynau Look on the right side of teh Moz bar and they give a rating out of 17. I'd say anything over 6/7 would be considered bad. Having said that I rely on SEMrush to tell me if it's toxic or not. Best Regards Nigel

  • Hi Marynau It's considered bad practice to link to other sites through footers. It results in 100s and often 1000s of links coming to you from one site which could be considered spammy. You probably won't get a manual penalty but there may be an algorithmic one if it happens too frequently from a number of different sites. Check the spam score of the site linking to you - use the MOZ bar - if they are a sponsor then they are likely to be OK. Then politely ask them to link to you once from an 'Our Sponsors' page or just one link from the home page (as it's likely to have a higher PA - page authority) I hope that helps, Regards Nigel

  • 100% Agree with you. Does not make any sense just add links (do-follow) just to do it. At the end of the day, Google just tries to classify all the info on the web in the best possible way. So if you can contribute to that in any way (Content) that will be reflected in your rank.

  • Hi, Thanks for your response. "Ensure the sites aren't low quality or being spammed with low-quality links". How can I ensure this? does Moz spam score will help? if yes then what % of spam score is ok

  • If you have a local website, then posting to directories is foundational to local SEO, and for that I recommend Moz's own service: https://moz.com/products/local It's effective and cost-effective. Just make sure you have Google My Business set up first or it won't work out real well for you. You'll find several businesses besides Moz also offer this service as a core part of doing SEO. Now if you're not a local business, it's still not bad practice to post to directories, especially if they are well established authorities within your niche. That's just good outreach.

  • There is no difference between a free or premium domain, at least Google does not evaluate the domain itself, what Google evaluates is the profile of the domain, backlinks, internal links, content, relevance and so on. So usually free domain has no value from the Google perspective...why? who will invest money, time, links and content on a free domain, I mean if you have the money to pay for hosting, content, and links why you will use a free domain....does not make sense. How many Blogspot sites, free WordPress.com websites do you know that have real value and authority. That's why I think, .cf / .tk / .gq / .ml / .ga probably will not have any value for linkbuilding.

  • I agree with Asif.  I would not do this because parameters become a briarpatch without creating them. You should be able to use Google Analytics or other analytics to see where your traffic is coming from.

  • Hey Casey, Thanks for the guide. Agree with that. Yes, I feel those are impacting ranking. But there is no penalty yet from Google.

  • Yeah there are many, But it's highly recommended not to use them if you care about quality links and ranking.
