Buy domain, redirect, get all the good links (+link juice) and disavow the spammy ones?
If you're OK with domain age, niche etc. you can disavow bad links. Or you can try to remove them manually. Contact website owners to request them.

What should be the step after building links?
It's not necessary to ping the links often, but I put a reminder and revise them from time to time.Of course, key information and global SEO changes mentioned in guest posts need to be updated.

Link building too quickly
I was doing a search for a similar topic for a site we manage that has gained 50k links in the past 4 months, and I came across this article. I was a bit shocked at the answers I saw, and some of the ones that were voted as good. It's an old article, but I felt compelled to answer since this is still a relevant topic. The link structure you showed is completely normal, and I would highly doubt you would see any negative impact from a strategy such as this. New sites and updated sites over time always receive new links. It's not about "how many" but more about "from where". I will address them one by one: 100 directory submissions Great, as long as you have tested the directories that you are being submitted to. If they have high spam scores and low domain authority, could be a risk. You should ask what directories you were submitted to and research them to see if they have a blacklist history or are penalized. If not, I see no issue here at all. When we launch a site, we submit it to up to 450+ trusted directories, depending on the SEO plan level selected. All directories have been tested via Moz tools and other providers, to ensure the link health. 80 bookmarks Not sure when you mean by this, but as long as the places you are being added are trustworthy and somewhat related to what you provide, I wouldn't worry. Even non-related links can be beneficial, coming from the right source. Granted, everyone wants the perfect anchor text link such as "awesome product in CITY", but a "visit website" followed anchor link will not do you any harm coming from the right source. 16 search engine submissions If this is a page or URL submission through Bing or Google webmaster tools, it's a total non-issue. People submit hundreds of URLs per day, or even thousands for larger sites. 15 Article submissions "Submitted to where?" would be a better question than how many is good or bad. If these are legitimate articles through a legitimate source such as PrWeb or the like, you should have no issues. Just depends on where they are placing your articles, the article quality, and the linking domain. 46 forum links Could be good, could be bad, depends on how you were linked to, and the trust factor of the linking site. See above. You may also want to see if the linked is followed because if not, it holds little value unless it was posted on a relevant forum as helpful advice, that has good visibility. 10 local classified searches Not sure what this is indicating, but again, it depends on how the linking was done, and where the links are coming from. As to the people stating that having a lot of new, varied links is a great way to get banned/penalized, just NO. That is not true. You want link diversity and many places linking to you, and in the business world, you can't always keep posting great blogs/posts/pages/articles hoping and waiting for the links to come to you. I have also never seen a link campaign that got someone penalized unless it was just blatant disregard for link quality or lack of knowledge. Hope this helps...years later lol. Or at best, it will help someone that comes across this article in the future.

How you do guest posting on behalf of your clients? What do you use in the author bio - your name, client's name or a fake name?
When you're acquiring links for a person or a company you definitely need to be in a position where your client is comfortable with you representing them or their brand. When it comes to Guest blogging you shoot for the ABSOLUTE BEST, and for the highest links you can get! So if you want to rank for SEO, you get links by answering 200 questions on MoZ, because they're an authority in SEO. You write guest articles for search engine journal, because any piece of content from a well known authority serves as an endorsement. DO NOT EVER use fake anything for yourself or for someone you represent. Writing is a valuable skill to have, and if you guest post about anything at all, you're going to have to do very SOLID research to be an AUTHORITY. However I have come to find, you don't have to be a psychologist to write a better article that paints and defines the difference between bipolar I and bipolar II better than anyone formerly had done before! The 3000 word compendium that you gained your source of information on the subject matter, nobody needs to know that was your clients website and onsite SEO you did for them. money in the bank for you, backlinks for your client Sorry, kinda strayed to the fake name segment and gave it priority so back to your numeric order: 1. What is your outreach process - Do you pitch as a marketing manager or as a subject expert? on a local level SEO clients can be acquired by ranking in the term city name + SEO. It's actually seemingly easy aside living in a massive metropolis. By doing things as simple as ranking a Youtube channel with tutorials, writing a nice 2000 word local SEO blog. You'll most likely kill your competition. 1.2m population here in Tucson and not one of these guys has a Youtube channel that breaks 100. In summary, I provide content and that teaches others through my experiences. When it comes to SEO, right or wrong, results and positive client reviews will bring in the crowd. 2. What do you mention in your author bio? I lost count of how many profiles and forum membership sites I've signed up for, many of them vary, tailored specifically to that particular platform, and who my target audience is. This changes despite selling specifically web design and SEO, for example a profile and blog on ActiveRain or AccountingWeb, you would need to be specifically targeting realtors or CPAs. So I base my blog posts specifically on those markets. There really isn't a specific template aside simply saying use current pictures, make profile names a nice variance of different target keywords, and whenever possible use 400+ words to make your links contextual. You'll never need to use a clients name for your offsite/onsite SEO especially if you are winning them links and leads with quality content marketing.

How can i build back link for competitor website
Once you sign up for your MoZ 30 day trial click MoZ Pro, and then link explorer on the MoZ Nav bar. Type in your competitor's url and it will show you all of their links. Depending on what kind of link it is determines if you are going to want to move in on acquiring the backlink, and how to go about doing it. I recently wrote on article on this particular subject matter, and effective ways to Steal Your Competitors Backlinks.

Effects of a bad link linking to a image
Your gtg for the most part when it comes to images. In Rand's Image SEO White Board Friday, he states images are graded for SEO on a more traditional style. So if it gets tossed around and embedded hundreds of times in bad web property neighborhoods all is well, for the time being at least! https://moz.com/blog/seo-photos-visuals-graphics-whiteboard-friday

What is the difference between external followed links and internal followed links.
So does it mean lesser the number of nofollow links better it is?

Hi. One of our competitors is ranking ahead of us on Google. Our site has a much stronger authority and much more quality links than this competitor. Would anyone have any explanations for this? Thanks
Hi Barry, further to your note about volume, whilst it is good to be adding new content, short or long is not necessarily best. I would rather focus on genuine quality and answering a users intent over adding lots of content that may not serve or fulfil a users needs. Have you performed an audit on your competitors site, are they answering topics or user queries better? And what content are you serving? Are you in a niche market?

Can affiliate links benefit or hurt my seo?
I did a bit of Affiliate marketing for Crakrevenue a few months back White, and one thing I advise that affiliates aren't going to tell you proactively is to add rel="nofollow" on your affiliate link. My adult affiliate site was very easy to drive substantial traffic hitting the right hot spots, and I ranked it pretty quick. In short order, many of the affiliates I was advertising for had less authority than me. So to avoid passing all that hard work to get authority to someone who was merely paying me for traffic, adding the nofollow tag was a quick fix. You definitely WILL NOT get a benefit in SEO from an affiliate, that would just be to easy!

I am concerned about the links pointing to my site. There have been an additional 273 dodgy links added in the last 2 months for unknown reasons skewing the linking domains by DA to mostly 1-10\. Could this be a negative SEO campaign?
it is certainly possible depending on the content of the website. I have issues with an individual producing links from very disreputable sources. Essentially if the contents one these: Link to Fireams Link to Gambling Link to a page linked to your site that is a clone as to cause the content duplication issues Adult XXX content It's a very likely possibility. especially with a questionable suffix like a tk or nl for example. I wouldn't worry about it, Google seems rather savvy in not including garbage like that in your overall score. Just make certain you don't link back to the content obviously. There is always the option to submit a disavow txt file if you think it is impacting your rank, but I doubt you have to worry.
