Root Domain Link for Affiliate's Link
To be quite honest, I don't know. I would assume there is if you are currently using one of these solutions. If HTML code of the http://www.hrmsplugins.com?partners=21 contains a reference to a canonical URL like this: It should pass along the link juice. I'm assuming your affiliate program uses cookies to track affiliate sales. If you are using a 301 redirect after the cookie is dropped to the root domain. It would help your main url rank.

Is anybody else noticing a dramatic change to their 'links to your site' section in Google Webmaster Tools?
It's not an issue at all - Don't get me wrong I'm not in a hurry to get the low quality stuff back again!

Lost inbound link from Huffington Post???
Further to what Keri was saying, no link tool out there promises to track/report every single link you have - not even Google's own Webmaster Tools. In fact it's only recently that GWT has increased reporting of incoming linking root domains. As long as the link is still on the page and the page is still indexable by Google (and it is - last cache date is Jan 26), then the link is still contributing to your ranking. Just because tools aren't reporting it doesn't mean it's not still contributing to your site's authority. Paul P.s. Keri thanks for the heads-up on this week's GWT glitch - that's the first I've heard about it..

Value of certain directory links
Two things: 1. While it's a a good idea to reverse engineer your competition, you don't always want to duplicate them. Has the site been ranking highly for a while? If not, you may not want to copy their links. 2. In my opinion there are literally 10-20 directories worth the time and effort. Remember: it's all about looking natural. And nothing looks LESS natural than getting 100s of directory links. Here are some of my favorite directories: Free: R-TT Directory DMOZ (good luck) So Much Ranking Directory Directory World Net Insert All The Websites MavicaNET Paid: Family Friendly Sites BOTW JoeAnt Ask Bee DirBull.com Yahoo! Directory (expensive but worth it) Hope that helps!

Subpage PR4, No PR increase on Homepage - what gives?
Ahhh, I see what you're saying Adam. I looked at the infographic page and the 2 links pointing to the homepage should send some PR to your homepage. So I doubt that's the issue. One PR4 link isn't enough (even with the low OBLs of that page) is enough to bump a PR up from 2-3, at least in my experience. It still may not be juuuuust not enough to show up on the toolbar. You could have literally gone from PR2.1 to PR2.9...almost there but not enough.

Build links to home page or internal to rank internal pages?
MOST of your links should be internal pages...especially if you run a site with a lot of pages. Take a blog with 150 posts. What are the odds that 90% of his links point to his (or her) homepage? There's no hard and fast rule about what percentage of homepage vs. internal links you should have...but I try to have less than 50% of my links pointing to my homepage.

Buying High PR Sites
Brian's right. My brain thought automatically about expired domains so I messed up a bit.

Reciprocal links
This is a solid explanation and really, we just have to exercise common sense. If you are exchanging links to the site as it provides value to visitors of both sites visitor then great, if you are exchanging links to somehow manipulate the search results, well, not so great. Ultimately, if you are doing this for search engines, that is definately not going to help and it could certainly hurt now or down the road if Google gets even more antsy regarding link based SERP manipulation.

Linking to sites that link to porn or casinos, my site getting penalized?
i only have about 4 reciprocal links, the rest are one way. I left these reciprocal links up because there is good anchor text in the incoming anchor text. Does google penalize my site by a small amount if the site i'm linking to links to a casino site?

Multiple guest posts from one site have any effect on rankings?
Hey Samuel, Multiple links from one site can help with rankings: If you are targeting different keywords (anchor texts) with each post, you can improve your rankings for different keywords with multiple posts on the same blog. As posts get older and are pushed off the homepage into the archives, their link value diminishes. Getting a fresh link up on the homepage can thus boost your rankings even if you wrote for that blog previously in the past. So getting multiple guest posts on the same blog can still be beneficial. Also getting multiple posts on the same blog may be more beneficial than getting posts from different blogs if there is a disparity in domain authority. Getting multiple links from the New York Times is better than having links from 10 random blogs.

Listly and SEO
Nick Kellet at List.ly reached out to let me know move about the service. He gave me permission to copy and paste his email below. From Nick... "I'd love to fill you in on the details of Listly and SEO Sure we offer iframes, and embed, but they are really secondary options. Our first choice is to use our Wordpress plugin, which means a list embedded in a post is treated as part of the post. ie your content is SEO searchable.Wordpress is just a first stop in executing our full vision for Listly.Crowd contributions ensure your post is ever changing, we know that brings significant impact to search results. This changes the lifecycle value of a single post from an SEO perspective.I'd be happy to share more and give you some examples of what this means in terms of organic search.I'm you'll be impressed and curious. We also have some great local search examples too.The anchor text is controllable from Listly. List items on your lists are freely nameable."
