Explore on-page optimization and its role in a larger SEO strategy.

  • I was checking your website and your on-page optimization. I would like to start with a recommendation. For tablets you don't need to force the visitor to view the mobile version. As for the seo, the website needs some good improvements. Start by changing all the meta titles and the H1 tags. As for the issue with the cities, is best to have other internal and external links pointing to those pages. You could keep them at their current location or give them a more prominent position in the home page. Ps. Wrote the above and then realised that you are redesigning the website. That would make things easier. Yes do add the locations in the home page since is something your visitors will want to see first!

  • The nofollows are automatically created by mediawiki. I'll try to find a solution for removing them i guess. Thank you for your input.

  • Cool , didn't know if it mattered for SEO to just have a title in the Nav labeled services with a mega menu with all of them on hover of to also have that service title in the nav clickable to its own page with the same link structure as the mega menu. I'lll create another page with all the links. Thanks

  • I understand the theory but I disagree. When you use your H tags properly it doesn't necessarily make a difference where they are located. H1 tags are usually the title, so it is better to have them higher on the page, however it doesn't negatively effect you if they are closer to the bottom of the page. My h2 and h3 tags are actually above my h1 tags and I have not seen any negative effects from this. The important part of these tags is the keyword use and whether or not they are used in order of importance, h1 most relevant to page, h2 is like a subtitle and so on.

  • The shortest and sweetest answer to this is YES! Long tail keywords are the combination of (mostly) of few head keywords and when you link to long tail it automatically benefit your short tail keywords too. Personally I was trying to optimize for bigcommerce premium themes and get some links with the same anchor text and as a result my client was appearing on the first page for both bigcommerce premium themes as well as bigcommerce themes. Hope this helps!

  • Ok, I started analyzing my site and as almost all of you suggested content needs to be improved if not created from 0. I have a very specific question, I have a subcategory named briefs, where I display men's Underwear Briefs. the structure goes something like this mainsite.com/mens-underwear/briefs I need a Meta Title, Meta description (I know this are relevant for the User not much for Search engines) and then I need a description, However the word Brief is extremely broad. Any suggestions where I can find keyword Ideas for this? or search traffic that is more targeted? I would appreciate your comments. Again thank you!

  • Hi Denverish, thanks for your reply, been months since i looked at this problem. It has returned so trying to sort it out. the redirects mentioned did not work. so any suggestions. The CMS allows for 301 redirects via a form; place old url at the top of the form and the new url at the bottom and save, But as I am trying to create a wildcard 301 redirect, i am not sure what code to place in these fields..see pic tai MgrqdVB.png

  • Try DYNO Mapper. If you are looking for a tool that will generate a URL list, I think it will work really well for you. It also will give you a full content inventory that you can filter, search, and export content types. This particular Sitemap Generator is also integrated with Google Analytics and has collaboration capability for multiple users. watch?v=kjFBnQCoxjI

  • Personally I would go fully qualified links ie xyz.com/blah.html. Yoast has a good post here about the subject - https://yoast.com/relative-urls-issues/ Also on MOZ http://moz.com/learn/seo/internal-link

  • Attributes and their corresponding values can be in any order within a tag. Having a self referring canonical tag also helps eliminate duplication issues if the site produces query strings appended to the URL. There is no ambiguity as to which is the "real" URL.

  • Thanks for your answers. That helps a lot. I'm still strugling with exactly how to do it. The domainname "Maleribasen.dk" basically meaning "Paintingsdatabase" is not a "brand" as so, but it's one of the most popular private gallerysites, which is a "niche" market thou. The latest article's subject is translated from danish "How to price my own painting?" and it's an article to help the artists with putting the right pricetag on their paintings. So, how would u do the title-tag on this article? 1. How to price my own painting? | Maleribasen.dk 2. How to price my own painting? - Buy and sell paintings | Maleribasen.dk 3. How to price my own painting? Or something else? The frontpage title I will probatly change to something like "Buy and sell paintings by private artists | Maleribasen.dk". Before it was "Maleribasen.dk - Buy and sell paintings".

  • The links between the pages should contain rel=prev and rel=next the also help let SE's know that the content is paginated.
