On Page Optimization, F on all keywords?
Looks like our host solved the problem. They mentioned they were blocking the rogerbot crawler. Anyone have an idea of how long we have to wait until the page grades and other info updates in our dashboard?

Does using keywords in the top level domain make any difference to SEO rankingsq
Although it is clearly a good idea to have a keyword or keywords in your primary URL, the problem is that your keywords may change over time and you can't have ALL of your keywords in your URL. IMHO it is probably more important to have a short domain name so that if you have a blog or page title containing a keyword it will show up in full.

Anybody knows how to get high ranking on Google BIz ?
Hi Mark! Thanks so much for sharing your website with the community. Likely, what you are going to need to do is to hire a reputable Local SEO consultant to do a thorough, professional audit of your website and your off-site local search marketing to identify problems and solutions. In the meantime, to get you started, here are some things I see at a glance and some suggestions I have for you: Your physical location in NY automatically means that you are in a very competitive market. This means that your geography is likely already filled with competitors whom it will be a major challenge to dislodge from their current rankings. To compete means that you will need to have the very best of everything - the best website, the best content, the best reviews, the best citations, etc. It's estimated that there are some 200 or so factors that go into local search rankings. In seeking high local pack rankings, your business is going to have to beat out competitors across many, many factors if it wishes to steal their spots in the packs. This won't happen easily or quickly. Your overall website design will benefit from improvement. Right now, the site does not look professional, and competitors are likely to have more modern, balanced, slick-looking sites. Your site is lacking an obvious logo, has this large statement at the top of it, "Acupuncture NYC, New York. Manhattan Acupuncture Clinic" instead of a traditional masthead, has no footer, etc. You need a modern, professional website. I see that efforts are being made to create helpful content on the website. That's great! What needs improvement here is the language itself. I would recommend hiring a copywriting who can take your company's ideas and write them up in error-free, persuasive language. Google grades the quality of language, and right now, there are many grammatical issues that could be holding this content back. Basic Local SEO best practices are absent from the site. You need a footer with complete Schema-encoded NAP in it, and this info belongs on your contact page, too. Check this out: http://www.smallbusinessonlinecoach.com/blog/seo/onpage-optimization-local-seo-perfectly-optimized-local-page/ So, that's a start, just at a glance. This article may also be useful: https://moz.com/blog/troubleshooting-local-ranking-failures Now, let's look up your business on Moz's Check Listing tool: https://moz.com/local/details/JTI1NUIlMjUyMnRyZWUlMjUyMG9mJTI1MjBsaWZlJTI1MjBhY3VwdW5jdHVyZSUyNTIyJTI1MkMlMjUyMjEwMDAzJTI1MjIlMjUyQyUyNTIyVHJlZSUyNTIwb2YlMjUyMExpZmUlMjUyMEFjdXB1bmN0dXJlJTI1MjIlMjUyQyUyNTIyMzIlMjUyMFVuaW9uJTI1MjBTcXVhcmUlMjUyMEUlMjUyMiUyNTJDJTI1MjIxMDAwMyUyNTIyJTI1MkMlMjUyMjIxMjUzMzExOTIlMjUyMiUyNTVE It looks like you are listed in a variety of places, which is great. Pay attention to those duplicates being reported, and be sure you're listed on all 15 of the sites the tool covers. Given the competitiveness of your city, you may want to consider the possibility of a Hyperlocal strategy, in which you're aiming to rank organically for your neighborhood in addition to ranking for the whole big city. Check out: https://moz.com/blog/mastering-serving-the-user-as-centroid You may also need to rely, in part, on paid advertising, given the competitiveness of your market. The other area of investigation is going to need to be competitive analysis. How well are your competitors doing with things like: reviews social video offline marketing Are there holes in their strategies? These are opportunities for you! Please bear in mind that this is all just stuff I've jotted down in about 2 minutes. This cannot replace the type of insight a professional audit will provide, and I do recommend you consider getting one from a reputable Local SEO firm so that you are making decisions based on data rather than a quick glance. I hope this has been a helpful start!

Web spam traffic coming from Fort Lee in Google Analytics
It definitely doesn't seem to be valid traffic, although the bounce rate in our case is still pretty on the normal side all the traffic is direct and comes via the service provider: xlhost.com inc.

Grade F page on Moz positions No 1 on Google Keywords not contained
Thank you Patrick that was a great and very thorough response. I have worked through the page improving links and key word popularity this has caused three of our pegs to move overnight to take P1,2 & 3. the major corporation we are battling do not have the key word we are promoting in their page. It is a registered trademark so we assume they are promoting off page and feeding links. How can we search for links to their page to understand what they are upto? Any ideas welcome. Thanks peter

Too Many on page links on my homepage question?
Well, the point of a landing page is that visitors go directly to an offer of some sort from SERPs. That tends me toward suggesting you remove it from each page. However, you've already had them there for what I expect is a while. So it might be harmful or tricky to do that. Generally speaking, if you want to make a change that you're either unsure of, or that might have a large impact, you want to start by taking small steps rather than do it in one fell swoop. My overall suggestion is that you remove one or two of the landing page links from your homepage, and check reporting after a couple of weeks. If it went well, then EITHER remove that same one or two landing page links from all bottoms of your pages, OR remove a few more landing page links from your homepage. I can't stress enough that you don't want to do both. That might make too big an impact. But it all boils down to a consensus between what you should do and what your boss will allow.

Duplicate Title Tags/Meta Tags for Website with Multiple Locations
Are individual versions of the quote form being indexed? Do they come up in a site: search of the website? Are individual quote form URLs serving as landing pages for organic traffic? If not, you are probably good to go. It doesn't sound to me like your current situation is much to worry about.

Is this hidden content?
Hi there I recommend running your page through the Fetch as Google tool in Search Console. This will help you see how Google sees your page. From there you can diagnose any issues you may run into. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have an eCommerce Site with in some cases, 100s of versions of the same product. How do I avoid "duplicate content" without writing literally 100s of unique product descriptions for the exact same product?
Philip, This page: http://www.picnicandtailgate.com/products/reclining-camp-chair-with-mlb-logos-by-picnic-time Should be the canonical version, referenced as such in the rel canonical tags, on these pages: http://www.picnicandtailgate.com/products/reclining-camp-chair-with-mlb-logos-by-picnic-time?variant=1367734467 http://www.picnicandtailgate.com/products/reclining-camp-chair-with-mlb-logos-by-picnic-time?variant=1367734531 http://www.picnicandtailgate.com/products/reclining-camp-chair-with-mlb-logos-by-picnic-time?variant=1367735171 This seems to be the way you have it set up at the moment, and I would leave it like that. If your hope is to get more search traffic for team-specific searches you'll either have to rely on that one page ranking for all team variations (each team is listed in the code from the selector box so you shouldn't need to add them somewhere else on the page) OR you'll have to create unique and useful content for each one of them that doesn't follow a pattern (i.e. don't just replace the team name on each page). Does that answer this question for you, or were there other related issues?

I have lots of articles on my website. Should I add myself as the Author Rank for seo purposes
If you are the author, and want to start building a reputation as an authority on this topic, adding authorship markup can be a way to do that. You probably won't see much "SEO benefit" in terms of increased rankings, traffic or snippets in the current Google algorithm, but I think Matt has a good point in that it has the potential to be used as a signal again in the future.

Structured Data
Gary Thank you for your response. I have asked my web developers if they can point the domains to the same directory. I used to rent a virtual office in the USA but our main supplier took humbridge to this and ordered us to remove the address and telephone number from our website. John

SEO for E-Commerce Sites
Hi Folks, Thanks for generously responding to my query. Yeh I feel there must be some more information about the sites I am talking about. Sites are actually web-based applications to be used by our existing clients and will be completely available to search engines for indexing except the applications. Login areas and the applications onward have different urls not for search engine consumption but for the users only. Each site has only one product (application) to be sold/used by the clients. Rests of the promotional pages are very few and available to search engines. And I expect management is not interested to add up any more pages, even the one site has not even a single page so for except the application and login area. Hope this information is enough to help you frame you response to this specific situation. The sources you suggested I am consulting and in the meantime hoping to listen from you. Thanks

Strange google indexing behaviour
Michael, Many thanks for the reply. In your view then would it then also be treating the search result page as having the same content as the no indexed product page? Thanks Carl

Best .net cms and ecommerce platform for seo?
I believe with Kentico, you "SHOULD" be able to modify the UI to have a better feel, and sorta streamline it, that way only one person has to suffer, that person being the one doing all the set up. I'm going through that right now. I'm building out a program that is a total nightmare. For everybody else, it should be pretty nice though... in theory...
